    Introduction

    Hi! If you're holding this book in your hands (or gliding through its digital pages), you probably have the intention or curiosity to quit smoking. Let me tell you something before you go any further: congratulations! Just the fact that you are considering taking this step is an accomplishment in itself.

    Now, you may be wondering, who am I to tell you all this? Well, my name is Eduardo and, like you, I was a slave to tobacco for many years. I never imagined that I would be the author of a book about quitting smoking, especially because for more than a decade, I couldn't start my day without lighting up a cigarette. But here I am, and let me tell you, if I could do it, so can you.

    I remember it all started at a party during my college years. Like many, I thought I would be just one to socialize, to feel part of the group. That just one quickly turned into a pack a day. I justified it by telling myself that I was young, that I had plenty of time to quit in the future. But the years flew by, and that promise of quitting tomorrow was postponed again and again.

    My awakening came on a random day when I was playing in the park with my five-year-old nephew. I realized I couldn't keep up with him without gasping for air. That night, as I looked in the mirror, I saw reflected the truth of my choices: dull skin, yellow teeth and that lingering smell of tobacco that I could no longer ignore.

    The road to quitting smoking was not easy, but not impossible. It was a journey of self-discovery, of facing my fears and learning tools that I never imagined existed. And now, with this book, I hope to share with you everything I learned in that process.
