Quit Smoking Forever - Andrew Thomas
Preface
This book is short , can be read in a few hours, and gets straight to the point. It describes my journey as a smoker, and gives the reasons why I started to smoke, as well as why I decided to quit. More importantly, it tells you how I quit and why I have stayed off cigarettes ever since I made that final decision to become a non-smoker. There is no magical system, no celebrity endorsements, and no hidden secrets. Just hard facts, a few useful techniques that I learned and boring old will power.
I used to smoke cigarettes for about sixteen years before I managed to quit for good. During that time I managed to quit smoking for around eight months, on two separate occasions. I will not say that the temptation to have a crafty cigarette does not still rear its ugly head every now and again, but so far, I have not touched a tobacco or nicotine product since I took the decision to stop forever. My will to ‘remain clean’ is now stronger than my previous addiction.
I have therefore decided to share how I took back control and responsibility for my own health. I hope that I can provide some inspiration, and possibly guidance to anyone else out there who actually wants to quit smoking for good, but is perhaps unsure of where to start. If you really do want to stop smoking, it is actually reasonably easy to do. To reach the point of wanting to stop is the hard part. And so this book is about my own personal struggle with nicotine addiction and the strategy that I used to beat it. I used the 'cold turkey approach' which, in my case, worked best. Different approaches may suit other individuals better.
My guide is aimed at readers who would like to rid themselves of all smoking-related addictions. In order to do this, total honesty and self-discipline are required. This will involve a lot of discomfort, both physically and mentally. Possibly emotionally as well. Unfortunately, in an age where society is constantly pandered to, you will often be part of the minority if you follow my cold turkey approach (which is what this book delineates). However, for many people, this is the only approach that can work. Total, brutal cessation of all forms of smoking and nicotine consumption means no slip-ups, no casual smoking, and no battery-powered nicotine products that taste of bubblegum. And no cannabis either! It means a complete end to smoking. Forever. That is what I have done, and what you can do too.
All it takes is a handful of belief and a gut full of determination! It took me many frustrating attempts to get it right, but I did it in the end, solely through honesty and self-discipline. It really is that simple. If
