    We all know that tobacco is bad for our health. Smokers know this perfectly well. When we smoke, we notice that sometimes we have trouble breathing, struggle to exercise without getting extremely winded, and sleep poorly. Even so, the damage done by smoking becomes even more obvious when we quit. That is when we truly realize how much harm we were doing ourselves by smoking.

    I am not going to cover the benefits of quitting smoking in this book because you are surely already familiar with them. There are thousands of websites that cover the health problems caused by smoking and the benefits of quitting. I will address those benefits very briefly at the end of the book, the ones that I observed in my own body. Those are the visible benefits, the ones that are immediately clear.

    In this book, I will tell you how I managed to quit smoking, what my strategy was, what I went through during the process, and everything I gained from giving up tobacco. My goal in doing so is for my story to help YOU quit smoking, too. I must warn you, however, that it will not be easy. Not at all. I, as I imagine you may be, was an adamant smoker, a smoker who loved to smoke. I liked the flavor of the tobacco in my mouth. I liked the sensation I got from my first cigarette of the day. And the one after lunch. And the one after dinner.
