Anti-Inflammatory Diet - James Michaels
Introduction
If there is one factor that is more commonly associated with disease than any other, that factor may be chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a serious condition, but it is often ignored as just a part of life after an injury or as what happens as the body ages. Often, people with chronic inflammation shrug their shoulders and say there is nothing that can be done about it. They simply continue to take pain relievers and live with pain and limited mobility. Often, chronic inflammation is not addressed beyond temporary pain relief with over-the-counter or prescription medication until the body encounters an inflammation-associated disease.
Current research shows that some of the most common diseases that are caused by or involved with inflammation include cancer, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, macular degeneration, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, allergies, multiple sclerosis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, lupus, and dozens of other diseases.
If you suffer from chronic inflammation or any of the dozens of diseases associated with it, you know how much it affects your daily life. In addition to feeling constant pain in your body, you are inconvenienced and may not be able to live the life you truly want to live. You may suffer from stiffness and immobility depending on how the chronic inflammation has affected your body and what disease you have developed from the inflammation.
Chronic inflammation can also affect you mentally. You may feel like you live your days in a fog, unable to think, remember things, and focus on the tasks at hand. You may not have the self-confidence to try new things or participate in events that might require mental focus. As an example, people often drop their hobbies such as doing crafts, writing, or playing intellectually stimulating games such as chess. because they cannot concentrate on the hobby and become frustrated when it becomes so difficult.
It is not uncommon for people to change their careers because of the pain, limitations, and disease caused by chronic inflammation. Often, this creates financial hardship for the individual or family, not to mention the loss of career achievement. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention report on arthritis (Arthritis Disabilities and Limitations, 2016), arthritis-attributable work limitations affect at least one in twenty-five people in the working-age group of 18 years to 64 years old, in every state of the United States. The same report states that The prevalence of arthritis-attributable work limitation varies by state but is generally high, affecting from 4.2% to 11.6% of all working-age adults.
Arthritis is just one of the dozens of diseases that are directly related to
