Don't worry; this will be a very simple and short introduction.
I personally want to thank you for choosing this book and putting your trust in me. It matters a lot to me because it has always been my dream to write down all the techniques and affirmations that in recent years have contributed to giving a crazy boost to my life.
Also, I am proud of you. And you should be too. If you have taken the action of taking Positive Affirmations for Black Women
it is because you are a person who wants the best out of yourself, looking for solutions or the right motivation to face any kind of challenge.
Speaking of challenges, writing this book took a lot of energy. Explaining how positive affirmations work, the secrets to making them extremely powerful, and choosing the best ones from the thousands I tested was a long process. Long and satisfying.
I have chosen to divide the book into 3 sections. First, I'll explain what a positive affirmation is, why it works, and the secrets to reaping the maximum benefits. In the second section, I share the best positive affirmations organized by: 1. Self Love & Self Confidence; 2. Mind & Body; 3. Relationships; and 4. Career & Success.
The third section is a bonus that I felt like sharing with you. I talk about what meditation is and why it is a powerful means to integrate together with positive affirmations.

CHAPTER ONE – WHAT ARE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS
By positive affirmations I mean phrases that represent a goal, an emotional state you want to achieve, or the type of person you want to become. Through regular repetition, they cause significant changes in your mental and physical state.
Practicing positive affirmations is very simple. All you need to do is pick a phrase and repeat it to yourself. You can use them to boost your self-confidence, motivate yourself to do better every day, or just to bring positive changes into your life. If you frequently have a negative self-talk, positive affirmations can be used to replace your subconscious negative patterns and replace them with more powerful ones.
Do they really work?
Imagine two people with the same skills who want to learn a new language—for example, Italian. The first person has a very critical and negative internal dialogue towards himself. I'll never be able to learn Italian; it's a language so different from mine. It will be really complicated.
The second person, on the other hand, has a much more positive internal dialogue. I'll be able to learn Italian; it's such a different language. I can't wait to start!
In your opinion, which of the two people will be able to learn Italian? There are no doubts. With this example I wanted to make you understand how much our thoughts influence our choices and consequently our reality and the results we obtain.
And guess by what means our internal dialogue can be improved? Exactly, listening to and repeating positive affirmations.
What does science think about positive affirmations?
As the name implies, positive affirmations cause positive thinking to be established in our mind. Through research and in-depth studies, it has been possible to demonstrate how much the positive mentality influences the increase of physical and mental well-being.
Optimism in Physical Health
According to a 40-year study carried out by the Division of Adult Psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, optimism is linked to longevity. The goal was to examine how much pessimism and optimism influenced the risk of early death.
The experiment began in 1960 with a sample of men and women who were given a test to fill out. Each question was assigned a score ranging from the lowest level (pessimism) to the highest level (optimism). Forty years later it was found that for every 10-point increase, the risk of early death decreases by 19%.
Positive thinking has been seen to play an important role in the recovery from an illness. Some studies, for example, have thoroughly researched a correlation between positive thinking and breast cancer. Optimistic people have been shown to experience less distress when confronted with a serious situation like this.
A fighting spirit has a better chance of surviving cancer because their willpower allows them to develop greater stamina and physical prowess. From this, we came to a common conclusion: optimism can profoundly affect a person's physical health.
Optimism in Mental Health
It is not only the body that benefits from optimistic thinking but also the mind.
In a 1992 study, Litt and other researchers evaluated reactions to a negative pregnancy test result. Those who did not manage to get up began to develop signs of depression while the others who brought their attention to the relationship, came to reach the serenity to try once again.
This suggests that anyone who bases his life on a positive way of thinking is able to cope with the disappointments that may exist, focusing everything on the positive aspects by engaging in problem solving. They do not stop at the first sign of difficulty, but try in all possible ways to overcome the obstacle.
This is also demonstrated by research done at the University of Texas that focused on HIV patients. The more positive patients were found to be more proactive and willing. Thanks to this type of mindset, they were able to organize their recovery, ask for information, and receive support to be able to win the huge battle they were fighting. Optimists also tend to accept reality, while pessimists tend to deny and abandon the goals they set for themselves.
As you can see, there are many scientific studies that have been carried out on positive thinking and the majority of these arrive at the exact same conclusions: optimism equals good health.
Answers to Common Questions about Affirmations

How often do I need to repeat positive affirmations for them to be effective?
There are no specific or rigid (strict) rules about timing or frequency. In my personal opinion, affirmations can be repeated up to three times daily to reinforce the positive belief. Writing your affirmations down in a journal and practicing them in the mirror is a good method for making them more powerful.
Can affirmations help with anxiety and depression?
Positive affirmations are not designed to be cures for anxiety or depression, nor are they a substitute for clinical treatment of those conditions. However, they are very helpful in finding the strength and motivation necessary to overcome difficult times. A study of cancer patients suggests that spontaneous self-affirmation had a significantly positive correlation to feelings of hopefulness.
Can you improve sleep with affirmations?
A large number of anxiety sufferers experience disturbed sleep, and affirmations can sometimes help to relieve anxiety. This means that they may have some beneficial effects in promoting better sleep.
In addition, incorporating your affirmations into meditation can be very relaxing. Meditation has been found to have numerous benefits in terms of sleep quality, so positive affirmation meditation could be a good way to improve your sleep.
