Positive Affirmations for Warrior Black Women - Jazmine Marshall
Introduction
Affirmations are a technique for self-help, boosting self-esteem and self-belief in one’s own skills. These simple phrases may help you redirect the attention away from personal failings or deficiencies and toward actual strengths, both those you currently have and those you desire to improve. They provide you with the ability to deliberately manage your thoughts. Affirmations are carefully crafted in order to have the most effect. They have become concepts that create the desired world when you express or think about them.
Affirmations, whether repeated or chanted to oneself, have the capacity to affect the way we think and behave in our lives in a good manner; they may modify our feelings, alter our behavior, and rethink our beliefs. Finally, they may assist us in achieving life objectives and achieving success. Affirmations have the ability to stimulate you to do certain tasks, to focus on achieving long-term goals, to alter your unhelpful thoughts and focus on positive patterns of thinking, to aid in obtaining a new belief system, and, most importantly, to reconfirm positivity in one’s life and to help individuals reclaim or boost their self.
As a beautiful woman of color, try and repeat the affirmation on a regular basis and sincerely believe in the things you are saying for Affirmations to be effective. This book will help you achieve your goals of self-loving, creating a healthy relationship with yourself and others, learning to take care of yourself in every walk of life.
Chapter 1
Positive Affirmations and Usage
By employing positive ideas in positive ways, affirmations are a terrific illustration of thinking and behaving in a manner that invites positive change and creates confidence. Affirmations come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but these all have one commonality: they’re all meant to operate like self-fulfilling prophesies to target one’s beliefs and ideas about oneself, others, and the universe around them. What you would not understand is that it’s quite possible that you’ve utilized affirmations without even recognizing them at some time in your life.
Have you really given yourself a motivational speech, using optimistic statements like you can do this...
or even trying to calm obsessive thoughts like I am OK, everything is good...
? You’ve then utilized affirmations. Positive affirmations are words or sentences that we recite to ourselves in a positive manner. In essence, they are utilized to actualize our desired objectives, desires, or experiences.
In certain groups, positive affirmations are regarded as magic, while they are considered pseudoscience in others. The truth would be somewhere in the middle. We don’t know if affirmations produce vibrations
or energies
that assist us in manifesting our goals. However, we understand that affirmations depend on and include a number of scientifically documented psychological processes backed up by evidence.
Self-fulfilling prophesies, for instance, suggest that we are more likely to see something come true if we think it will. And neuroplasticity research reveals that concentrating on something strengthens and develops certain areas of the brain. One can even increase the power of positive connections in the brain, reducing the dependence on unfavorable, well-worn pathways.
This science may seem complicated, but practicing positive affirmations is simple. All you have to do is select a sentence and mentally repeat it. Using the guidelines in this book, you may choose the positive encouragement that will benefit you the best.
1.1 What Is the Best Way to Pick a Positive Affirmation?
There is no such thing as a universal affirmation, so you’ll have to find out which one feels best for you. It might be a compliment on a particular attribute or a wise decision you’ve made, or just anything affirming your self-worth. Toxic positivism should be avoided. Using positive affirmations does not imply that you are persuading yourself to ignore the challenges in life or the society around you. Standing in front of the mirror and repeating, ‘You’re amazing,’ or ‘You’re lovely,’ might seem insincere. And, to be honest, Only positive vibes
isn’t practical or beneficial.
Rather, choose positive affirmations that accept the truth of your present position while encouraging you to grow and develop.
1.2 Psychology behind Affirmations
While it may seem that there is no research to support the concept of positive affirmations, there really are various psychological theories that do. The self-affirmation hypothesis, presented by Claude Steele in 1988, is a theory that explains affirmations. In this hypothesis, Steele claims that humans have a basic drive to keep our identity, or our innate image of ourselves as good, moral, and capable of controlling the outcome of significant events. According to Steele, Affirmations help us maintain and strengthen our subconscious identity, and our unconscious will finally accept the affirmation as real.
1.3 Benefits and Uses
Positive affirmations help you interact with feelings of appreciation and improve your outlook. When you’re feeling down, use affirmations to enhance your issue-solving energies. Let’s see some examples.
Positive affirmations might help you feel better when you’re under a lot of stress.
Affirmations help you think in a much more progressive approach.
They help you get a better understanding of yourself and your requirements.
Daily affirmations may help you stay focused on your life objectives.
Optimistic words help you rise above terrible impacts by making your conduct more positive, energetic, and action-oriented.
Affirmations on a daily basis might help you maintain a continual feeling of appreciation.
Affirmations may help you live a healthier life.
Affirmations have been shown to reduce anxiety and tension.
By making things better and taking part in healthy behaviors, those who build positive affirmations have a lesser risk of disregarding cautions against detrimental health behaviors.
Patients’ receptivity to therapies has been increased by using affirmations.
Positive affirmations are a source of motivation and inspiration for people who use them on a regular basis.
Positive affirmations are also used to help people achieve their goals.
Toxic positivism should be avoided; using positive affirmations does not imply that you are persuading yourself to ignore the challenges in your life.
Developing a good mental self-portrait that contains realistic assurance and high self-esteem is one of the most essential things in life. Self-esteem is important for being successful, and affirmations may help you enhance your self-esteem.
We may not have come from a positive household or may have experienced a social circumstance that made us feel horrible about ourselves. This isn’t going to make for a happy existence. Therefore, we need to be kind to ourselves.
1.4 How to Use Affirmations?
Maintaining persistence is the primary purpose of generating affirmations for oneself. Please, make a short sentence that you can repeat to yourself twice a day or repeat it often. You should say your affirmation first thing in the morning to have a new and optimistic start to the day and before going to bed to encourage positive thinking. Even though there is no one-size-fits-all approach to creating an affirmation, there are several key steps to follow if you’re customizing one for yourself.
Make it a habit to think positively
Positive affirmations, like everything else, need effort. If you’re not accustomed to saying them and also don’t say them on a routine basis, they’re unlikely to help you in an emergency. You have to consciously cultivate happy thinking if you really want to start making less space for negative thoughts.
The most important concepts are those that take hold in our brains; pushing back on our typical way of thinking takes work.
Put your cynicism on the back burner
Let’s face it: standing in front of the mirror and saying good things to oneself might be strange, but fight the urge to quit up.
It’s unrealistic to expect to become positive thinking overnight if you’re normally a negative thinker. Allow it some time for it to settle in and feel natural.
Repeat them out loud or silently to yourself
It’s up to you if you speak the positive affirmations loudly or simply mentally recite them to yourself, but the latter is usually the most effective method to begin. Often hearing things out loud has a greater effect than thinking about them.
Make a list of your favorite positive affirmations and place them around the house on flashcards or sticky notes.
Place them on the bedside so you can see them first thing in the morning and when you go to sleep.
Put the affirmations on the phone app so you can read them at any time.
Set an alarm for yourself to encourage you to read or repeat the affirmations at the very same time each day. A positive attitude is one of the first stages toward positive action, but it won’t get you there on its own.
Consider this: will you trust someone who stated they are giving you a million dollars? You’d likely be suspicious until you saw the check arrive in the bank account. Positive thoughts are the same way.
1.5 Writing Your Own Affirmations
Affirmations should be written in the current tense. Come up with a method to bring it into the now, even something you want to do in the future. Rather than saying, I will feel fantastic on the wedding day,
say, I feel incredible and am prioritizing my health on a regular basis so that I may radiate the pleasure I feel on the wedding day.
Use a cheerful tone of voice. I am liberated from the urge to emotionally eat since I find serenity and pleasure in companionship, yoga, or self-care,
instead of I do not really emotionally eat.
Make them seem credible. For instance, if you wish to write an affirmation regarding wealth, stating I am a millionaire
would just make your brain respond, no, you’re not, fool.
This is known as cognitive dissonance, so it makes the affirmations less effective. Rather, affirm something one can do each day to help them achieve their objectives, such as I work each day to provide value to everyone else, and I get compensated fairly for that contribution.
I’m a good steward of my money, and my fortune is gradually growing.
Make sure they represent your priorities appropriately. Don’t write any affirmations about being smart at work or going to the gym every day. It’s good to have a variety of affirmations that cover many aspects of one’s life but
