    Chapter 1

Who is that beautiful young girl?

The Nation’s Top Male Model, Mark Antonious Richfield, glanced at the two middle-aged women standing at the rail of a Sunday riding event. In the misty early summer rain of Paradise, California, he said to them, That’s my son. Isaac.

The two women gave him a look as if they were either highly embarrassed or stunned.

Mark couldn’t care less what they thought. His eight-year-old son, Isaac Milton Richfield, excelled at show jumping. His mare, Brandy Dancer, also appeared to enjoy the challenge since her ears were high on her head and her tail swished excitedly.

Along with Mark to watch the event, was his husband and business partner, Steven Jay Miller. Steve cheered Isaac, or ‘Zak’ on, as if this were a baseball game.

Next to Steve was Jack Charles Larsen. Jack, Mark’s best friend since college, worked with Mark and Steve at their garment manufacturing firm, Richfield-Miller International in Sacramento. He was their in-house attorney. Sitting on Jack’s high, broad shoulders was Mark’s third son, seven-year-old Jacob Bentley Richfield.

Jacob, a blue-eyed blond, like his mother, Mark’s ex-fiancée Sharon Tice, had tried the riding competitions, but didn’t take to it as well as his older brother. Jacob, or ‘Jake’ held onto Jack’s head as Jack also shouted, cheering on Mark’s darling middle son.

The whispering from the two women near Mark began to annoy him. Yes, he was aware because Isaac preferred his brown hair long, had lovely green eyes with thick dark eyelashes, and feminine features, looked like a girl.

At his age, Mark had the same issue. Although he was teased relentlessly. Since Mark was in his fifties now, and times were quite different back when he was a lad, Isaac wasn’t getting harassed for his androgynous beauty. Noticed, yes, bullied, not so much.

Not at school, not at home, and certainly not whilst riding with this show jumping group.

Yes, Isaac was the only lad competing.

The rest of the show jumpers here were little girls.

Mark adjusted his jacket collar and sunglasses. He wore them even in the dim drizzle hoping no one recognized him from his ubiquitous Dangereux Cologne ads. Mark put his arm around his Steven as the love of his life cheered Isaac on to another victory and blue ribbon.

LAPD homicide lieutenant Jeff Chandler, gasped as his robbery detective husband, Mickey Stanton, gave him a good fucking.

Jeff, lying on his back on their bed in their Malibu beach house, gazed at his hunky blue-eyed man. Mickey stilled his hips as he climaxed, and Jeff felt the pulsating deep inside his body.

Oh, fuck, that feels so damn good. Mickey pulled out and sat on his heels, catching his breath.

Jeff had already come, enjoying a blowjob from Mickey right before Mickey fucked him. As they recuperated, recovering from a hot bout of sex, Jeff heard his cellphone chime.

It was located on the nightstand.

Mickey rolled to his back beside Jeff heavily as Jeff picked up the phone and read the message. Shit.

What? Mickey asked, touching Jeff’s skin with his fingertips.

Possible homicide. Jeff responded to the message, then sat up and looked at his naked body and soft cock.

    Damn.

Jeff rose from the bed and entered the bathroom to clean up. He gazed into his green eyes in the mirror’s reflection and ran his hand over his brown hair. Yes, he was on call this weekend.

He loved his job. But at times, especially weekends or holidays, being hauled back into LA from Malibu sucked.

Jeff quickly washed up, then dressed in his business suit while Mickey stayed naked on the bed, watching him.

Let me know if you’ll be home for dinner, Mickey said.

You got it. Hopefully, it’s natural and I’ll be off the hook. Jeff checked his gun and clipped the holster to his waist belt.

He grabbed his badge, ID, phone, and keys, then leaned over Mickey, kissed his lips, and said, See ya.

    See ya.

Jeff left the gorgeous beach house, one they had originally rented, but now owned, from Jack Larsen and his husband, talent agent, Adam Lewis. Jack and Adam lived with Mark and Steve in Paradise, California, so they allowed Jeff and Mickey to buy the place for what they had paid for it. In other words, at a screaming deal. Even though he and Mickey had worked as police officers for decades, they never would be able to buy this place at what it would sell for now.

Jeff inhaled the sea air, looked up at the bright June sunshine, and used his garage door opener to get to his Mustang. Once inside it, next to Mickey’s pickup truck, Jeff backed out and raced down the Pacific Coast Highway, to a possible murder investigation.

Alexander Mark Richfield, Mark’s thirty-five-year-old actor son, read over his lines for his new cable TV series, Room at the Top. Alex played a lawyer and loved this new show. As he committed the lines to memory, Tadzio Andressen-Nolf, a Swedish transgender actress and model, learned her lines right with him. She had also been cast to play a lawyer in the new series.

Tadzio, with her long blonde hair and blue eyes, had top, but not bottom surgery. She and her LAPD husband, Officer Matt Nolf, lived with them. Alex’s husband, an LAPD lieutenant, Billy Sharpe, was Matt’s uncle.

Lady, their loony white Saluki-mix mutt, started barking and jumped on top of Alex where he sat on the sofa.

Ouch! Dog! Alex held the pages of his script up as Lady went nutty at the front living room window in their home in Bel Air, California.

Tadzio turned to look outside from the sofa, and said, Billy iz home.

Lady instantly raced to the kitchen, where the door connecting the garage was located.

Alex ran his hand through his shoulder-length brown hair and heard the double-garage door open.

Lieutenant William Paul Sharpe was twenty years Alex’s senior, and worked at the LAPD police academy, training new recruits in defensive tactics.

They usually flew to Paradise to spend time with Alex’s dad, Mark, at the enormous estate. The manor house had thirteen bedrooms, a spa, two pools, a library, basketball, and tennis courts, and a stable, housing several horses, including Alex’s. Alex owned a palomino gelding named Golden Thunder.

As he heard his macho law enforcer greeting Lady with cooing babytalk, Alex smiled and set his script down to go say hi.

Tadzio shouted, Hello, Billy! from the white leather couch in the open-planned Bel Air home.

    Hey, blondie! Billy yelled back.

Alex watched Billy remove his shoes and hang his car keys on a hook near the kitchen cabinets while Lady went crazy around Billy’s legs.

This six-foot-two stud whom Alex adored to death, scooped Lady up in his arm and rubbed her belly as her pink tongue tried to lick his cheek.

How was the new law training? Alex asked as Billy set Lady down on the kitchen floor. Usually, Billy didn’t work weekends, but he had to attend a seminar for the instructors at the police academy for a few hours.

Meh. Necessary and dull. Billy drew Alex into his arms, making Alex tingle. I’d rather have gone to Paradise.

Nex weekend… hopefully. Alex sniffed Billy’s neck, loved his scent, and grew horny.

What have you been up to? Billy asked as he nibbled Alex’s earlobe, sending chills up Alex’s spine.

Tadzio and I are working on next week’s episode.

Lady stood next to them, looking up at them.

Wanna fuck? Alex whispered into Billy’s ear.

Mind reader. Billy’s blue eyes sparkled with his impish thoughts.

Grrr. Alex held Billy’s hands and drew him to their bedroom.

As they passed, Tadzio said, Have fun! in a sing-song way.

    We will, Alex replied.

Billy kept Lady out of their bedroom, shut the door, and undressed.

Alex shoved the throw pillows off the bed, seeing Billy set his gun, which had been clipped on his waist, onto the dresser.

Matt was working today on his usual patrol shift until seven p.m.

Once he and Billy were naked, Alex relaxed on the bed and bent his knees, splayed out for anything Billy desired.

Yes, he and his husband had been through ups and downs… many. But lately? Things were perfect.

Billy paused to take in Alex’s position. The highly-charged testosterone-filled former army veteran-cop had a solid erection. Billy worked out hard, running, punching a bag, and weightlifting. Alex had never seen a man Billy’s age with a body like that. Hell, a man at any age.

A tattoo of barbed wire with Alex’s name scrolled into it, was wrapped around Billy’s biceps. On Alex’s pelvis was a police badge, with ‘Billy’ and ‘Forever’ inked.

Billy crawled up from the foot of the bed, pressing butterfly soft kisses up Alex’s legs and inner thighs.

When Billy made it to Alex’s groin, he nuzzled in and used his rough beard growth to tease.

Alex reached blindly for the lube in the nightstand drawer and held it as his cock wagged and the urge to come increased.

Billy took Alex’s cock into his mouth and hummed. The rush up Alex’s spine from the sight and sensations made him high. Billy sucked and pulled on Alex’s long, straight, cut dick until Alex went into a powerful climax.

Billy swallowed, then took the lube. He knelt upright, put the tip of the tube into Alex’s ass, and filled it with gel, then pushed in with a moan.

Alex, still vibrating from his climax, watched as his gorgeous police lieutenant took what he owned. Billy connected to Alex’s gaze and as the masculine man came, they gave each other a wicked leer.

Steve felt fatherly-proud as Isaac was given a blue ribbon for first place. He’d never been a horse fancier. Not until he met Mark and became familiar with the docile equine.

Now, he rode a big, lovable Percheron-mix horse named Bollward’s Tempest, or ‘Bull,’ on the trails behind the manor house they owned. It was fun.

    Uncle Steve!

Steve turned around to find his teenage niece, Chloe, who also rode horses and owned one named Sally. Her horse was stabled in Paradise. Chloe, her mother, Laura, who was Steve’s sister, Laura’s husband, Barry, and Steve and Laura’s mom, Susan Miller, had flown up in his and Mark’s Learjet for the weekend. They were headed home this evening.

Also in the stands to watch the event was Blake Hughes, a former LA fireman, who was the boys’ nanny, and Blake’s Butte County fire captain husband, Hunter Rasmussen. Once the ribbons had been given out, the group left the stands and crowded around them.

Jack’s husband, Adam Lewis, wasn’t much of a horse fancier. He’d remained home to enjoy the spa and work with his clients via computer in the manor house’s study.

Blake rubbed Mark’s back excitedly. He’s amazing! I can’t believe he jumps without any faults!

Chloe leaned against Steve and seemed as happy as the rest of the family. The light drizzle let up and the sun began to warm the fresh June air. Steve put his arm around Chloe, who was in high-school and prepping for college.

He’s good! Chloe said as they watched Isaac walk Brandy Dancer closer to where they were all standing. Chloe whispered, I can’t believe he’s the only boy!

Steve couldn’t either, but obviously little girls and horses were a ‘thing.’

Jack raised Jacob over his head and set the adorable blond on his feet. Jacob wasted no time climbing under the fence rail and running to his brother.

Jacob had a few lessons in show jumping, but never really took to it like his brother had. Jacob enjoyed baseball and riding his bike more than the equestrian sport. But Jacob did own his own horse too, Gallant Lexy.

Seeing Mark’s pride and his adoring smile aimed at his stunning son, Steve squeezed Chloe close, so glad to be a part of this family.

    ~

Mark walked around an open gate in the jumping ring. Isaac urged Brandy Dancer to him. A bright blue ribbon had been clipped to Brandy’s bridle at her cheek.

Jacob held Isaac’s leg, his smile broad on his face, happy for his brother.

    I won, Dad. Isaac grinned.

You did. Mark held onto the horse’s reins and led it into a huge open stable where the competing riders were dismounting.

Mark’s horse groom, Andrew Wilson, was here with his wife, June, and daughter, Sandy. Sandy also competed, but she was older and in a different event than Isaac. She won a second-place ribbon in her jumping challenge.

Mark reached up to his son and Isaac slid off his horse and into Mark’s loving arms. Mark set his boy on his feet, hugged him tight, kissed him, and said, I’m so proud of you.

    Thanks, Dad. Isaac squeezed him.

    ~

Jack waited with Blake and Hunter as Mark helped Isaac remove Brandy’s tack and they loaded her and Andrew’s daughter’s horses onto a trailer.

Hunter, a big strapping fireman, leaned on Jack and said, I kept hearing comments from the people in the stands referring to Isaac as ‘she’.

Blake made a noise in his throat of annoyance.

Jack shrugged. Hell, Isaac did look like a little girl with his long brown hair and delicate features. It wasn’t as if they were in bathing suits, and you could easily know.

His phone chimed with a text. Jack put his eyeglasses on, which he had in his shirt pocket, and read a message from Adam.

He asked when they were heading back to the estate.

Jack sent back, ‘we’re done. Just loading the horses.’

    ‘How’d Zak do?’

‘He won! Of course!’ Jack grinned as he texted it.

    Clapping hands emojis returned.

Just as Jack absorbed the warmth from his husband’s communication, he heard hissing whispers behind him in the crowd.

Why is a boy allowed to compete? I thought he was a girl! I don’t think it’s fair.

Jack glanced at the person attached to the nasty mouth and shook his head. This competition was open to all, boys and girls. There were no restrictions other than age.

Isaac was already getting a lot of attention at school. Being the Nation’s Top Male Model’s son and the award-winning Hollywood actor’s brother, he was bound to make his own mark on the world.

At eight, Isaac had already blossomed. His beauty was remarkable. Jack had never seen a boy so charming.

Well, maybe once. In college, when he met Mark Antonious Richfield wearing a Stamford Cardinals baseball uniform.

Blake patted Jack’s back and said, Louis is waiting for us.

Jack spotted the black stretch limousine idling in the parking lot. He looked for Jacob and found him and Isaac laughing, rough-housing, and being typical brothers.

It made him smile. He loved those boys like an uncle… or a dad. Jacob’s mother, Sharon, was Jack’s best friend for decades. And Jack made it his business to look after both boys. He wanted nothing but the best for them.

Jeff had stopped at LAPD headquarters to swap his personal car for an unmarked sedan. He met up with his colleague, Sgt Burke. They rode to the scene together.

As Jeff drove, he had Sgt Burke catch him up on the details.

…The man’s name is Fred Prescott… he’s in his late sixties… did some acting in a soap or something.

Jeff wondered if that name rang a bell with him. Hmm. Not sure.

As he drove to a posh area of Beverly Hills and an enormous house, one set far back from the street with a private drive, he spotted black and white police cars and the coroner’s van waiting.

Jeff parked and he and his sergeant emerged from the sedan and made their way to the front door. The grounds were well manicured with trimmed shrubs and
