    Chapter 1

Late afternoon on this Friday in June, Mark Antonious Richfield the Nation’s Top Male Model, entered the kitchen of his thirteen-bedroom manor house in his estate in Paradise, California.

The noise level from nearly thirty occupants, including one dog, was at its peak. Earlier this afternoon, Mark had his friends and family flown to Sacramento from Los Angeles in his private jet.

From Sacramento, Mark’s chauffeur, Louis, shuttled the group in a rented van to his middle son’s science fair. The fair was at the school and marked the end of both his young sons’, Isaac Milton Richfield, and Jacob Bentley Richfield’s school year.

This Sunday was Father’s Day, and it was the first large gathering Mark had in months.

Most of the guests were familiar faces, couples that visited often, stayed in the same guest bedrooms, and knew the routine.

There was only one man invited whom Mark had never met.

Keith O’Leary and his husband Carl Bronson, both Hollywood actors, had invited their new chef, Erin ‘Coco’ Cochran, a lovely nineteen-year-old graduate of the Culinary Institute, to join them and help Mark’s chef, Sierra, in preparing meals.

Included in the gathering of male couples, was Sharon Tice, Jacob’s mother and Mark’s former ex-fiancée. Sharon recently remarried her second husband, French actor Henre Ward. The handsome man accompanied Sharon and her two high-school aged daughters, Chelsea and Elizabeth Ann.

Mark’s husband, Steven Jay Miller, whom Mark had married for a second time after being married to Stan Bergman, Isaac and Jacob’s father, was cohosting.

Mark paused near the kitchen nook, a bench seating area with a grand view of the outdoor pool, tennis and basketball courts, and paddock and stable for their horses.

His eldest son, actor Alexander Mark Richfield’s looney white Saluki-mix mutt, Lady, raced between Mark’s legs and outside through a dog-door they had installed whilst Alexander and his LAPD lieutenant husband, Billy Sharpe, lived here.

Chasing the white fluffy mutt outside, were his two sons, Jacob, who was eight, and Isaac, who was nine, along with Isaac’s new friend, Byron. The three youngsters were in bathing suits. The clamor distracted Mark from what he was going to do, which was make sure Sierra and Coco got along well and could cook as a team.

Sierra was a mature woman, matronly in shape, and married to their manservant, Warren. It appeared the two chefs were getting along swimmingly. When Mark was finally able to focus on them, they were laughing and acting like best mates.

Sierra? Mark asked over the noise of men walking behind him either going for a swim on this warm June day or intending on playing basketball or tennis.

Yes? Sierra asked in the noise.

Are we good with the situation?

Coco, a stunning blue-eyed blond with a body like Adonis, gazed at Mark as if he were a little starstruck.

Sierra gave Mark her thumbs up of approval and replied, Coco’s going to do the starters and side dishes, while I handle the main courses and desserts… at least for now.

    Lovely. Mark was pleased.

Coco said, We’re swapping recipes. I’ll teach her my brioche and she’s teaching me her bagels!

Laughing at how adorable the two chefs were, Mark felt relieved there would be no tension between them.

Just as he decided what he would like to do next, Mark’s thirty-five-year-old son Alex and actress transgender Swedish model, Tadzio Andressen, approached from the hallway, coming from the bedrooms they shared with their husbands. Both were in bathing suits to enjoy the warm afternoon and outdoor pool.

Hi, Dad. Alex, with his shoulder-length brown hair and green eyes, looked so much like him, Mark wondered if people on the streets of Los Angeles mistook Alex for him.

Are you swimming? Alex asked him.

    I’ve not decided yet.

Tadzio, with her long blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, had top, but not bottom surgery. She had married Alex’s husband, Billy Sharpe’s nephew, Matt Nolf. Matt was also working for the LAPD as a patrol office, whilst his fifty-five-year-old lieutenant uncle was an instructor for the police academy.

Okay. Alex kissed him and he and Tadzio continued to the kitchen’s back door.

Next to wander by were Jeff Chandler and Mickey Stanton. Another married pair of cops, Jeff, a homicide lieutenant and his hot partner, a robbery detective.

The couple were in shorts, topless, and were quite the sight.

Jeff drew Mark into his arms sensually. Do you want to play basketball with us, gorgeous?

Whilst Jeff nibbled Mark’s neck, sending chills over his body, Mickey called to Billy Sharpe, who was on his way towards them from the bedrooms down the hall, with Matthew.

I doubt I can compete with you bruisers. Mark smiled at Jeff’s affection, which he knew was loving and kind.

Billy, Mark’s son-in-law, was also in just gym shorts for the basketball game. The lieutenant may be in his fifties, but worked out harder than any man Mark ever knew. The former army vet was more like a drill sergeant than a passive lover.

Let’s go! Billy, with his biceps barbed wire tattoo, with ‘Alex’ scrolled into it, clapped his hands. Miller! Larsen! Billy roared.

Matt laughed at his uncle and headed outside.

Jeff kissed Mark and then he and Mickey left the kitchen to join the others outdoors.

Mark’s husband, Steve, jogged towards them. Steve was with Jack Charles Larsen, Mark’s best friend since college at Stamford. Jack was Mark’s in-house lawyer at his garment manufacturing firm in Sacramento, and Jack’s husband Adam Lewis, was a talent agent. Both lived here in the manor house.

We’re coming! Keep your shirt on! Steve, whom Mark had met at an advertising firm, and married not once, but twice, pulled Mark into a sensuous embrace and kissed him hotly before he left the house.

Mark, left spinning in the wake of the passion, took a deep breath to recover.

Next to file past were the three high-schoolers, Steve’s niece, Chloe Wolinski, and Sharon’s girls, Chelsea and Elizabeth Ann. They were also in bathing suits, with robes on, and giggled as they left the house to play in the huge Olympic-sized pool.

Not far behind them were Steve’s sister, Laura, and her UCLA professor husband, Barry, and Steve and Laura’s mother, Susan Miller. Laura asked Mark as she walked by, Do you want to play tennis?

I’m not sure. You go and enjoy. Mark smiled at Steven’s lovely older sister.

Barry and Laura were dressed for tennis, whilst Susan, a wonderful church lady in her seventies, had a sunhat on and appeared happy to sit on the patio and enjoy watching the gathering.

Carl Bronson and Keith O’Leary were obviously ready for basketball, also in just gym shorts, no shirts.

Carl and Keith put their arms around Mark and Carl whispered, Isn’t he gorgeous? as he indicated Coco, who was busy laughing and prepping dinner with Sierra.

Oh? I hadn’t noticed? Mark quipped.

Ha. Keith kissed Mark’s cheek and off they went to play basketball.

Right behind them were Blake Hughes and his husband, Hunter Rasmussen. Blake and Hunter were former LA firemen. Blake was Mark’s nanny for his two young sons, and Hunter was a fire captain with Butte County, training new recruits.

Blake wore a bathing suit, whilst Hunter appeared ready for the basketball game. Blake asked as he walked by Mark, Is everything okay?

    Yes. Mark kissed him.

Adam Lewis, wearing tennis whites, laughed, and chatted with the stunning Frenchman, Henre Ward. They appeared to be playing doubles with Barry and Laura.

Henre paused in front of Mark. The two of them had modeled together for the last ad campaign for Mark’s trademark cologne, Dangereux. Thank you so much for having us up this weekend, Mark, Henre said in his wonderful accent.

My pleasure, Henre. Mark’s son Alex and Henre were costarring in a new cable network TV show, Room at the Top, along with Tadzio.

Once they exited the house, Joe Scarbino, a community police team cop, and his husband, Hollywood superstar, Jeremy Runner, both wearing bathing suits, stopped to smile at him.

Joe, whom Mark knew was a big fan of his, looped his arm behind Mark’s low back and went for a sniff of his neck, whilst Jeremy eyed the food preparations going on across the kitchen counter.

Swim with us, Mark, Joe whispered, nuzzling.

    Perhaps. Mark was still deciding.

With Joe making him tingle, Josh Elliot and his husband, Tanner Cameron, both former lifeguards, now making a living off the internet, approached. Tanner was in shorts and a tank top, whilst Josh wore a swimsuit.

You’d better hurry, Tanner, Mark said, indicating the basketball court, Billy was anxious to play.

Tanner jogged out of the kitchen.

Josh tried to muscle in on the snuggle with Joe, until Jeremy dragged both handsome men outside with him. Time for a dip…

Mark winked at Jeremy for the assist in distracting his two amorous admirers.

When he spun around, his ex-fiancée was right beside him, also wearing a bathing suit and white terrycloth robe.

Hullo, Ms Tice. Mark smiled at her.

Sharon tilted her head discreetly towards Coco. You had to find another gorgeous gay dude?

Mark feigned insult and touched his chest. Me? He’s Carl and Keith’s chef, not mine.

Sharon observed the pretty boy for a minute, then said, You should meet Phyllis. My cook. She’s in her mid-sixties and has gray hair.

    Mark smiled. Perfect.

She kissed his lips, which surprised him, and then she joined the rest of the group outdoors.

Mark approached the counter where the two chefs were busy working and said, Twenty-nine people and one dog… that’s quite the gathering.

Sierra waved him off as silly and Coco laughed as he diced vegetables. We love a challenge.

Warren entered the kitchen carrying a basket of towels to make sure everyone had everything they needed.

Since Isaac and Jacob no longer shared a bedroom, the overflow of guests were sleeping in the annex.

Mark had built a four-car garage with four bedrooms atop it, and for the first time in months, all of the rooms were occupied.

He knelt on the bench of the nook, looking outside at the activity. Isaac, Byron, and Jacob, sliding down the water slide into the pool, the looney dog barking and swimming in the water, the bruisers playing a wild game of hoops, and the quartet of lithe athletes lobbing the ball over a net in the tennis courts.

Mark inhaled a deep breath just as Sierra brought him a tall glass of ice water. Taking it, Mark winked at her as she returned to work with Coco, who was adorable. He knew his marvelous chef was delighted to have such a willing helper.

Mark sipped the water and smiled as he decided what he would like to do next. Right now? Watching his loved ones enjoy the summer day.

    What could be better?

    ~

Joe bobbed in the swimming pool while Jeremy swam laps. The outdoor and indoor pools were enormous, Olympic-sized pools. While the kids, Jacob, Isaac, and Byron, whizzed down the pool slide, and the three teenage girls, Chelsea, Liz, and Chloe, sipped lemonade with their legs dangling in the water, seated on the pool ledge, Joe’s attention was on the basketball game.

Blake and Josh were near the boys, throwing an inflatable beachball at them as they slid into the water. Sharon, in a one-piece bathing suit, took a seat with her girls, also dipping her legs into the pool.

Seeing Billy, Steve, Jack, Hunter, and Matt, playing basketball against Carl, Keith, Jack, Jeff, and Mickey was very entertaining.

The big buff lieutenant tended to make the game rough. Including fouling.

As the grunting of the ten men on the basketball court sounded like sexual moans, Joe also heard the pop of the lobbing ball on the tennis court.

There, in real tennis outfits, which Joe would never imagine owning let alone wearing, were Laura and her husband, playing against Adam and Henre, the delectable Frenchie.

His gaze making him turn side to side like a swivel to take it all in, Joe felt a bop to the top of his head. Jeremy had hit him with an inflatable beachball to get his attention.

The ball bounced onto the patio, and Byron, Isaac’s adorable playmate, raced for it and threw it back into the water.

Lady, the looney mutt, paddled her feet and tried to snap her gaping jaws at the ball, but with each attempt it floated out of her reach.

Jeremy hauled himself out of the water to sit on the ledge opposite where Sharon and the girls were. He was out of breath from swimming laps, doing the front crawl.

Joe hoisted himself out to sit beside him. They leaned on each other lovingly. Joe gazed out at the horses grazing in the paddock, and then at the flowering meadow. The sky was clear blue without a cloud in sight, and just a hint of rose petals wafted in the air from the potted plants.

After they had arrived in Sacramento from the Learjet flight from Los Angeles earlier today, Louis shuttled them to Isaac and Jacob’s school. They had a science fair and Isaac and Byron used dry-ice to freeze watermelons, then dropped them from a high ladder, only to have them shatter and explode like glass glitter-bombs.

From there, they were driven here. Joe loved spending time with the guys at this estate and Sierra’s food was to die for.

Shouting erupted from the basketball court as Keith accused the LAPD brute of foul play. Joe ignored it because ‘that was Billy.’ He was a thug, in Joe’s humble opinion, and well… Billy beat the crap out of him for cheating with Alex.

But Alex came onto me! Honest!

Joe shivered at the memories. The beating he’d gotten from a furious bruiser was nearly as terrifying as the brain surgery he’d had last Christmas. He and his SWAT lieutenant had a very brief affair that Alex found out about. I guess that’s why Alex came after me. So, Billy would end up hating me and trying to murder me.

At least he was unconscious for the surgery. Sadly, he wasn’t for the pounding.

Warren emerged from the back door and set out pitchers of ice water and more lemonade. Along with it were little snacks.

Joe’s stomach grumbled and he wondered what munchies Warren had supplied.

Lady climbed out of the pool, shook off in a spray of water, and then sniffed around the patio.

When she came closer, Jeremy petted her soaking ears and laughed at her. She looks like a drowned rat. He giggled.

Joe smiled at the dog who belonged to the same LAPD brute that had kicked his ass.

Jeremy patted Joe’s thigh. Are you tired?

Before Joe answered, Mark emerged from the house. He wore a tiny black bathing suit, his white terrycloth robe open, showing off his amazing physique.

    The sight struck Joe mute.

Daddy! Jacob beckoned Mark to join them in the pool.

As Mark left his robe and slippers aside, Joe drooled.

The stunning model dove into the water, surfacing near the three young boys. The second Mark was in the pool with them, Isaac and Jacob climbed on him, and Byron laughed and floated on one of the beachballs.

    A nudge came from Jeremy.

Joe glanced at his husband and smiled. I can’t help it. What is it about him?

Uh… He’s stunning? Jeremy pointed to Lady. The dog was barking at the men on the basketball court.

Alex shouted to his dog, Lady! Shut up!

    ~

When Jeremy glanced towards Alexander, he couldn’t tell the difference between him or his father from behind. Alex now had his hair cropped the exact same way as his dad. Alex used to have very long flowing hair, to his midback. Isaac’s hair was now that long.

Done! Steve shouted from the basketball
