    Dedication

This book had its origin in class discussion at a college.  It began in courses on psychology discussing the nature of mind, intelligence, genius, creativity, and extraordinary achievement.  What this book tries to do is explore the nature of intelligence, the creative process, and what does it mean to work an act of genius.  It is also a book of life exploration helping the reader to know his or herself, searching for ideas to make a better life, or just trying to learn more about oneself.  This book began as a foray into curiosity about creativity and has in time become a labor of love.  Please enjoy the experience of this book and hopefully it can open new doors to you, the reader.

This book is overall dedicated to the Department of Psychology.  They are excellent teachers into the nature of mind, brain, and intelligence and their coursework helped inspire this book.  For the most part, this book is the labor of just one person, your author.  However, I wish to commend the publishing company, teachers, and assorted persons who helped inspire this work.  I also wish to commend the reader for taking time to make this book part of your life for a small amount of your time.

The chapters to follow are divided into roughly three sections.

First.  The first section is about creativity, creative thinking, idea generation, and what to do with ideas.  Ideas tend to be the inspiration for later achievement in creativity and this chapter is about generating ideas for later creative work.

Second.  The next chapter after this is about life exploration.  Everyone has one and only one life to live.  An attempt must be made to understand that life, who you are, and where are you going.  Life is filled with many wonderful and disturbing issues.  Each of us will in time encounter issues that need to be faced whether good or bad, positive or negative.  An attempt to face the issues discussed in this chapter must then be done.  Sooner or later, we will encounter these issues and must in some way find some method to handle, control, and contain these issues that can become problems quite easily.  By reading about the many issues of life here, hopefully the reader can then attain a better understanding of self and how to handle one’s own life situations.

Third.  The last chapter is about other types of creativity activity.  Life can be a rich experience in skills, journeys, experiences, and many other things.  The world is filled with a vast array of issues ranging from physics to art to politics.  Its all a part of a vaster reality that is in some sense all a part of everyone.  Taking time to learn about the world can then lead to living a more interesting life.  The issues of these chapters are included to give a greater experience to the reader pertaining to the issue of creativity.

Overall please enjoy the experience and journey of this book.  Please share it with your friends, family, classmates, school, local college, and people who like to learn and read.  It is meant as a means to enrich a person’s life and hopefully your world too.

The spark of God is within all, to allow thought, to know imagination, to attain identity, to know life if only you take time to learn.      -class discussion

    Preface

Genius is a mystery of a word.  It conveys ideas of high intelligence, grand thinking, epic achievement, and great learning.  It is a word attributed to a few people with names like Einstein and Edison.  Yet for the most part it is a word that is not understood or at best is misunderstood.  What then is the secret of genius?  What causes it?  Do ordinary people have its qualities and can it be developed?  There are many mysteries about genius and its enigma continues on in science.

Men of genius have lived over the ages.  History remembers such people as Aristotle, Copernicus, Edison, Leonardo da Vinci, Einstein, and many others.  They all did something, wrote works, or contributed in some way to science and learning in ways that can be called acts of genius.  Undoubtedly more men like them will live.  When and who they are as yet to be seen.  For other ages and situations will they appear and do deeds that can only be called acts of genius.

Genius is a quality that can be demonstrated in acts of science, the making of art, and the playing of games.  Geniuses exist in all activities of Man.  From fighting wars to composing music, genius flowers with people, men and women who do extraordinary feats.  Many times, people of genius will leave works that shape the world or some subject with new deeds that impress the ages.

The secret of genius lies with the unknown processes of brain and mind.  It lies deeply buried in the consciousness of peoples in their thoughts and the things they know.  It can appear when people concentrate on some issue and work on it to the exclusion of anything else.  It is a fascinating issue awaiting an era when it is fully understood if ever.

The modern world has been shaped by people of genius who have gone before.  Men like Tesla, Einstein, Edison, Ford, Faraday, Newton, and many others all left stamps on civilization that contributed to the modern world.  Each did something to make the world what it is.  Their deeds are taught in many sciences and even now are required learning in school.  In the future, other geniuses will live and do fantastic things that will change the world yet again in profound ways.

Today, many thousands of babies are born each day.  Who of them will grow into geniuses is anyone’s guess.  What will geniuses of tomorrow think and do?  No one knows until they live and do their acts.  The future awaits and no one can say what tomorrow holds.

Genius is a gift that perhaps everyone has.  As to what lurks in anyone is anyone’s guess.  Who knows what anyone can do?  Perhaps writing a book, playing games, making a composition, or creating a work of art is one’s window to one’s own genius.  Genius is a word of many mysteries lurking on the outside of ordinary issues that people are used to.  Genius is a subject to explore and a mystery to solve.

A thought is a creation of mind.  How the mind produces a thought is unknown, but its known it requires a prodding, a stimulus to get the mind thinking.

A seed can grow into most any kind of plant.  It can go on to be a weed or a flower.  It can grow large and live long or live short.  It can give a lot or give nothing.  A seed has a lot of potential, the flower can only be one thing.

    Introduction

Within everyone there exists an intelligence.  It is an intelligence that is a blend of the mind and the brain and is called the mind-brain unity.  The mind is an abstract term for all thoughts and creations of thinking.  The brain is an organ in a person’s head which is the seat of human intelligence.  Here in the mind-brain is a person’s identity, feelings, memories, skills, talents, and notions.  It is the core of a person’s being, the center of one’s self identity.

The human intelligence is capable of extraordinary deeds.  It can think, reason, create, invent, innovate, write, compose, and do many of a thousand things.  It can compose music, write poetry, invent machines, and make art.  It can work miracles and do so much.  It is a miracle of a gift, an enigma of a person’s quality.

People are Nature’s most intelligent animal.  People can make civilizations, travel to the Moon, explore other places, and discover so much.  Every invention, every work of art, every act of literature, and indeed every act of Man can be traced to the human intelligence.  It is collectively an enigma and the subject of the science of psychology.

Today, science does not understand genius, it is a great mystery awaiting someone to solve its enigma.  It lies within the human intelligence and can burst suddenly on the scene.  It lies within everyone and requires prodding and training to make it flower.

In this book, we will explore the enigma of genius and its many mysteries.  It is a word that intertwines with many other issues.  Such issues are inventing, playing games, exploring the world, exploring science, and doing almost anything.  We will explore methods to create and invent and explore issues most will never know.  This book is about exploring a person’s intelligence and using what is found to change a person’s life.

This book is divided into the following chapters.  We will explore creativity methods and how to use them.  We will analyze a person’s life and how to change
