Gaining Employment in Ufology - Thomas Jonesmith
For ufologists.
Epigraph page:
For ages, Man has been seeing things in the sky he could not explain. He would believe angels, gods, demons, and supernatural things resided in the sky. Later ages would call such things stars and planets. Despite explaining all the superstition Man has believed about the sky above, something else has remained. It was something he could not explain and still defies understanding. This is the unidentified flying object.

Preface: Employment in UFOs
UFOs are a compelling enigma of science. It refers to seeing strange lights in the sky and other related stories. The subject of UFOs would arouse many kinds of research path, curious enigma, organization, and other activity to explore the overall phenomena.
In this book, we will review kinds of employment a person may get or explore in UFO research. UFO research is rich in many kinds of occupation, job, work position, and so for the committed UFO enthusiast and worker.
UFOs as a subject of scientific interest go back to the 19th century. The science of ufology only dates back as far as the 1940s. However stories that would become part of UFO research date back thousands of years. It is an enigmatic subject continually expanding of its stories, interests, research paths, and more. It is a fascinating though controversial subject, it is ufology.
Introduction: Ufology
For ages people have reported seeing something in the sky they could not explain. It refers to seeing objects that seem artificial, are powered by something unknown, seem close to being like spaceships, and more.
To the ancients anything in the sky was something supernatural or divine. Thus they worshiped the Sun, stars, planets, aurora, lightning, comets, and such as gods, a manifestation of the gods or God, or something related. Beliefs like this would persist for ages in time enshrining themselves in astrology, the occult, archaeoastronomy, creation myths, and more.
In the modern age, things in the sky would be classified as something astronomical, physical, or at least comprehensible to people. Thus things in the sky lost their connotations with the divine or supernatural. In time people would see the sky in scientific ways, disdaining the occult notions of ancestors.
In the 20th century people would claim to see objects in the sky that were not astronomical, physical, human, or otherwise. They would claim tales of something else that could not be explained and thus such dramas were called 'UFO' or unidentified flying object.
A science would arise to study all things UFO and this is called ufology. It would embrace a whole series of mysteries like:
ancient astronauts
alien abductions
the government UFO coverup
Majestic 12
crop circles
UFO religion
contactees
UFO crash stories
Entity cases
Physical trace cases, and much more.
Many of these mysteries would make startling claims that aliens were on Earth causing these 'dramas'. Many would investigate the stories and conclude nothing alien was there or at least nothing alien was proveable. Today UFO stories routinely involve alien discussion, but nothing alien has been proven.
Ufology would grow up as a subject studying all things UFO. However ufology would strangely never solve any mystery, in time explaining all things as manmade or something natural. Ufology would grow into a collection of sensational, absurd, and fantastic stories of aliens somehow on Earth somehow inspiring the many UFO mysteries.
Ufology would attract all manner of person from scientist to businessman to fanatic. It would be invaded by all manner of person claiming some outlandish story, trying to sell merchandise, or trying to advance some theory of some kind. In all ufology was intended to become a serious science on par with physics and chemistry, but instead it has become something of a pseudoscience and research activity for just about anyone.
In this book, we will examine essays on the study of ufology. This book is meant to be an investigation into the overall study of UFOs.
This is a collection of essays on ufology and possible careers to explore in UFOs.
To better understand career positions in ufology, we should first review a discussion on ufology before exploring careers in ufology.

————Introduction to UFOLOGY or UFO Research (The Science of the UFO Phenomena):
Discussion: The UFO Phenomena (The ‘Reality’ of UFOs)
There is an issue in science and the world that is highly controversial. It involves people claiming stories and seeing things in the sky they cannot explain. They cannot explain what they see so they accord whatever is reported as an ‘unidentified flying object’ or UFO. UFOs have since gone on to be a famous issue in world lore involving exotic stories of alien abduction, ancient astronauts, and much more. It has given rise to an exotic labyrinth of fascinating stories, dubious claims, and stories of all sorts alleging something not man-made or natural is somehow here on Earth.
UFOs are a highly controversial subject. Its stories ranging from misidentifying flocks of geese as alien spaceships to outlandish claims of alien contact. It is a labyrinthine subject filled with scientists, hoaxers, lunatics, profit-seekers, bewildered persons, and so much more. Separating fact from fiction and finding the truth is a challenge in this subject. It is a subject that must be investigated cautiously as going wrong with it is so easy. In this book, we will examine the labyrinth of UFOs in the light of science. We will review its sub-issues and probe the reality of its subject. For the remainder of this book, we will explore its many intriguing stories.
—Definition of the word 'unidentified flying object'
For ages, people have seen all manner of 'thing' in the sky. The ancients believed comets were 'shooting stars' or 'omens' of something evil. In later times astronomers would see comets
