If you (or someone you know) are very insecure, Lifeline for Insecurity may help you overcome that demon and become more secure in your life.

    About the Author

    Introduction

Idon't know if God had a part in any of the insecurities I developed in my childhood for I believe we make our own choices, but I also believe God has a plan for us.

The deeply insecure blame themselves for the way they are. If only I were stronger, not afraid, not a coward, etc. are thoughts that run through their heads. But those thoughts aren't necessarily true.

Certainly, we all have responsibility for our thoughts and actions; however, our psychological makeup and events that have occurred in our lives contribute to feelings of insecurity. There is hope. Have faith. They shall see who have never been told of Him, and they shall understand who have never heard of Him (Romans 15:20 KJV).

I was very insecure throughout most of my life. Things that happened in my childhood contributed greatly to my insecurities, each event compounded by other events and leading me to where I am today.

My insecurities continue to the present day, but I believe God is making me stronger. Perhaps His plan was for me to write this book and to give people, who are deeply insecure, hope—hope in God and His plan for them and for you.

So I'm sitting here trying to write and find I'm being pulled in different directions by people who are excited about the project but have their own ideas of where it should go. My purpose is to write this for God, and I need to keep going in the direction I believe He wants.

The purpose of the book is to address insecurity from a nonprofessional view and offer hope from God to those who do and do not know Him. He gives hope and grace and assurance. We just need to open ourselves to it.

How do you do that, especially if you don't have a relationship with God? That's a hard one to answer. First, ask Him to come into your life; begin to know God. You can do this by reading the Bible, praying, attending church, talking to believers, reading related books, watching Christian TV, movies, etc.

Understand that God created you and loves you. No matter what, hold on to that knowledge. And if you don't believe in God, according to Pastor Gribnitz of Rockland Community Church:

Everyone has trust in something they are not 100% sure of. Even trusting science—Have you ever seen molecules? Did you see dinosaurs? Do you understand weather patterns and why the weather does what it does? We see others that know these things and hear from them to form conclusions.

But how do you move toward belief? That's a great question. I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness (John 12:46).

Faith Alone: A Daily Devotional is based on the writings of Martin Luther (copyright 1998 and 2005 by James C. Galvin, general editor). According to Luther, there are two ways to believe. One way is to believe what is said about God. Another way is to believe in God. This other way means trusting Him to be who He says He is and that He will do everything He says He will do.

Ask God to come into your heart. Ask God for faith, for help, for clarity. Be open to hearing Him. But don't expect Him to speak to you as a person would. Certainly, that could happen, but I believe God is more subtle than that.

Instead, look for God in the kindness and love of others. Look for Him in the compassion you have toward people, even animals. You can see God in all His creatures; you just need to look and be receptive to seeing.

Embracing nature is a wonderful way to feel more confidence in yourself. Examining God's earth, the power of wind, thunderstorms, animals, and plants can give you strength to combat your fears because seeing this strength in what God created affirms that God is mighty and therefore can help you.

As you begin to develop a relationship with God, you can enrich this connection through more prayer and study. Discussion with other believers is a great way to expand this relationship.

Insecurity and God. How does God help you deal with your insecurity? What is it like to be insecure? This book is an attempt to answer these questions and others and, from my point of view, to explore how one becomes insecure and if insecurity can ever be overcome.

From childhood, I have wondered what God had planned for me. God has a plan for everyone. I knew He had one for me, but no matter how I prayed and asked, I couldn't figure out what God wanted me to do.

My parents said, God gives everyone a talent. Okay, so what's mine? Beats me. Then I began to feel like I needed to write. But
