Nicole Rustin

I began writing poetry when I was aged 10 years and developed into writing sophisticated poetry at the age of 13 years. I used poetry as an outlet to my feelings at a young age having lost my great grandmother and eventually my father at 16 years of age. My father died on his 50th birthday. My father was my softball coach. I was an elite athlete at age 13 years through to age 21 years. I represented my state, NSW, at open women’s level and my country Australia at youth level. I was a softball pitcher. When my father died I was struck with grief. Hence the poem “A Letter to Heaven”. This poem was printed on his funeral eulogy. I then gave birth to Ashliegh Rustin when I was aged 17 years. I brought Ashleigh up as a sole parent and she was the inspiration for my poem “My Beautiful Ashleigh”. I then studied law and obtaining an honours degree. I now operate my own legal firm and have continued to write poetry periodically throughout my life.

The Philosophy of

Non-Violence

Nobody should resort to violence

Especially those respected

There are other ways of solving conflict

This is the avenue I’ve detected

Cease all violent behaviour people

Become only beautiful

It’s amazing what the world will ultimately be

If we stick to a philosophy so special

Articulation

Articulation is a manifestation

Of resolution of a situation

Easily achieved with thought

Combing, intertwining and analysing of sort

Completing the task at hand

Rewards only, no reprimand

In other words, and to explain

Articulation is a necessity in life to reap rewards and solve problems

How to Cope

It comes naturally to me to be nice and kind

It’s an inbuilt trait and ability

I definitely see it in others

Even if it is hereditary

So beautiful are some I’ve met

It gives me faith and hope

It makes me believe the world is going from bad to good

Being nice is a necessity to cope

Stimulating

I have never had such stimulating conversation

Than with a 5 and 90 year old

It is absolutely amazing

How they come from the same mould

As me, it’s absolute beauty

So precious are these people

I wish to treasure them forever

And put them on the peak of the steeple

Testimony

It is somewhat challenging

To appease and clarify

The thought process is astronomical
