Poetry in Motion - M.S. Penelope Price
Yesterday
69416.pngWhenever I cried
My Father would say
Don’t cry
He always said
Don’t cry
You’re much prettier
When you don’t cry
And so now
I’ll try
Not to cry
"I’ll save my tears
For another day"
Not yesterday
Not today
Not tomorrow
"I’ll save my tears
For another day"
But I do miss him dearly
My Mother too
But I’ll try
Not to cry
Yesterday
Today
69416.pngToday was one of those days
That started out with
Calm and smooth sailing seas
And then the tides
Got turbulent
And unpredictable
And then towards the
End of the night
It all calmed down
To serenity yet again
That’s how today felt
And it ended
Looking like the moonlight
Shimmering off of the
Surface of the sea
That’s what this moment feels like
That was today
This is today
Today
Tomorrow
69416.pngI dream of a better tomorrow
One filled with no sorrow
Where we will no longer
Have to beg, steal or borrow
That’s a hard pill to swallow
Where we would fear never not
The undertow
And we would ride the waves
Into our safe place
Our happy place
Where we could
Pick choose and refuse
To do or not to do
An about face
Leaving all our worries behind
Left without fear or worry
None of that
Not even a trace
Only photographs to remind us
Just in case
And have the word
Tomorrow
Be synonymous
With only contentment
Written all over our face
The Here And Now
69416.pngThe here and now
That’s all we really have
Just this moment in time
There are yesterdays
But they are gone
They live in our memories
Just like the song
Pressed between the pages
Of our minds
And if we’re lucky
Some will remain
In our hearts forever
And we will carry them there
With us to the here and now
And all the tomorrows
Until they’ve gone by
But really
We have no tomorrow
Tomorrow is not promised
But we must still
Look forward to it
Because that’s what life
Is filled with
Hopes and dreams
For the here and now
And for better tomorrows
With more joys
And less sorrows
As for the here and now
That’s all we really have
The here and now
Let Us Begin
69416.pngYesterday is gone
Tomorrow has not yet come
We only have today
Let us begin
A quote from Buddha
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future. Concentrate the mind on the present moment.
Your Heart
69416.pngGo where your heart takes you
When so many roads
Open up in front of you
Don’t just take one
Randomly
Sit
Wait
Listen to your heart
Go where your heart takes you
Finding Love
69416.pngYou don’t have to find love
Love will find you
When you least expect it
There it is
That big
Glorious
Almighty
Powerful
Universal
Four-letter word
Love
Love will seek
And find you
It will be your fairytale
Come true
No more lonesome will you be
No more longing
And the yearning you will feel
No more will your broken heart
Think that it will never heal
No more will you be
The lucky in life
But unlucky in love
The Universe will find a way
It’s called synchronicity
The love that finds you
Will have
No relation to you
But will have the
Most surreal connection
With only the best of intentions
Connecting you to love
So powerfully
That you will know
That it came from
The Heavens above
It’s about trust
It’s about faith
It’s about keeping
Your soul safe
Until love finds you
You don’t have to find love
Love will find you
Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. A New Chapter
69416.pngA new chapter
Sometimes I am just too understanding
And where does that get me?
Nowhere
Sometimes I am just too nice
And where does that get me?
Nowhere
I guess it’s time to turn the page
And no
Not the page of one of my books
I am speaking about the
Page of life
In fact
I should really start
A new chapter
The new chapter?
"In God we trust
Everything else we check"
Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.
He Loves Me. He Loves Me Not.
69416.pngHe loves me
He loves me not
She could hear his thoughts
As she stared at the flowers he sent her
The forget-me-not
And she picked one and pulled on each petal
He loves me
He loves me not
He loves me
He loves me not
He loves me
Oh no. Oh no. Oh no.
Last one
Last flower petal
He loves me not
Not true
Not true
She knew
She knew
He loved her
Not loved her not
Their secret love affair
Could not be not for not
They were lovers
Secret lovers
But lovers nonetheless
It was time to confess
They were made for each other
He completed her
He depleted her
He made her shutter and shake
Like an earthquake
