About this ebook
Nicole Rustin
I began writing poetry when I was aged 10 years and developed into writing sophisticated poetry at the age of 13 years. I used poetry as an outlet to my feelings at a young age having lost my great grandmother and eventually my father at 16 years of age. My father died on his 50th birthday. My father was my softball coach. I was an elite athlete at age 13 years through to age 21 years. I represented my state, NSW, at open women’s level and my country Australia at youth level. I was a softball pitcher. When my father died I was struck with grief. Hence the poem “A Letter to Heaven”. This poem was printed on his funeral eulogy. I then gave birth to Ashliegh Rustin when I was aged 17 years. I brought Ashleigh up as a sole parent and she was the inspiration for my poem “My Beautiful Ashleigh”. I then studied law and obtaining an honours degree. I now operate my own legal firm and have continued to write poetry periodically throughout my life.

CHAPTER ONE
Poetry About Loved Ones
My Beautiful Ashleigh
I don’t have much to give you
My beautiful baby girl
But we only have one life to live
Let’s make it in this world
With money we are short at times
Grief often strikes within
But you and me is all we need
To amend any sin
You’re an angel sent from paradise
And a saint sent for this birth
You changed my life the day that
You set foot upon this earth
Your beauty captures eyes around
Your perfumed skin so sweet
Your gentle warmth of tenderness
Raptures everyone you greet
Thank you for granting all my prayers
From God you came to me
You’re loyal and true, and precious too
My beautiful Ashleigh
A Letter to Heaven
The chance to tell you drifted past
The curtains drew the light
The mist surrounding all our dreams
Soon faded in the night
The silent tears of unspoken words
Lie beneath our weary eyes
The sorrow, pain and memories
Are captured in our cries
Your face so tender, your eyes so kind
Your love was so unique
The only gift that God could give
Is the memories that we seek
Our hearts cry out, our prayers are yours
Our flame is burning tears
Father you are in our hearts
And thank you for the years
The fifty candles on your birthday cake
Will forever burn inside
Your 25 years of faithfulness
Are remembered by your bride
Your honesty and carefree ways
Still echo through the wall
Please always know we love you so
And your love will keep us tall
Perfect is the only word
For your wondrous pride and might
You’ll always be treasured in our hearts
For you are our guiding light
May God take you into his open arms
And please look down at us weep
For every tear shed from our eyes
Is a tear we wish to keep
Calling An Angel
The shades of the past stay with her
But in the shadow she only sees him
And the silence speaks one thousand words
For the mirror reflects his grin
No flowers for the lonely one
To comfort her tonight
No kiss to keep her warm in bed
No candle for the light
Vanishing pictures of his visage
Flash throughout her mind
But the memories of her corsage
She reaches deep to find
The little one he kept alive
She holds onto that belief
Her children will be by her side
Through the tears, the pain and grief
In her heart she knows all’s well
For he is
