    Kirsten Oelrich is the CEO and founder of the On-Purpose Growth Institute®. She is the author of the On-Purpose Growth Plan: Architecting a High-Performance Life, a speaker and online trainer who's developed high-performance cognitive-behavioral engineering methodologies and strategies that are helping her clients experience increased confidence, stronger relationships, improved physical and mental stamina, high-performance, and personal growth.

    She has extensively studied and incorporated globally recognized high-performance growth and mindset methodologies and strategies to build high-performance teams and help individuals and organizations achieve maximum performance through intensive cognitive-behavioral programs focused on emotional, relational, and environmental restructuring, character enhancement, and the permanent imprinting of high-performance habits. Kirsten is a lifelong learner and loves the outdoors. She lives in Tulsa with her husband and amazing dogs.

    Why I Am Writing This Book

    One day, while scrolling through my Kindle library, I reflected on all my book mentors, whose insights, teachings, and training have profoundly impacted my life. I realized that the insights I have gained from my life experiences and my high-performance personal transformation might bring value to the lives of others.

    It is never too late to embark on the journey of personal development. Our personal development journey is a lifelong process of cultivating a high-performance growth mindset and striving for high-performance for the benefit of making life better for humanity.

    Merriam-Webster defines on-purpose as something set up as an object or end to be obtained with intention. Merriam-Webster defines high-performance as being better, faster, or more efficient than others.(Merriam-Webster, n.d.).

    Suppose you were to interview the elite performers living today─the top 1% of authentic high performers. You would find that they would have all or most of these characteristics or traits. As you read this book, I would encourage you to note these traits and compare them against your current state. None of us are perfect, but there is a way to accelerate our growth and performance, which I plan to demonstrate throughout this book.

    We will look at high performance in the context of seven core pillars that will be discussed in detail in a chapter later in this book. Take a moment to examine the following traits of high-performers and make a mental note of which characteristics you currently exhibit and the traits you desire to assimilate into your behavior set.

    Recently, I read a Forbes article that discussed how to develop a personal growth mindset that fuels business success. The discussion focused on how personal development encompasses all generations. People invest substantial time reading individual development books, listening to personal development podcasts, and taking personal development classes and seminars. To further illustrate the solid generational interest in personal development, according to Grandview Research, the global personal development industry has the potential to reach nearly $56.7 Billion by 2027 (Rains 2020).

    This research provides strong evidence that people are either renewing their interest or becoming interested in their personal development. If you are already a high performer, this is not a new concept. If you are renewing your interest and embarking upon the journey of personal development, you will discover that establishing a positive high-performance growth mindset is the first step towards a successful personal growth journey, developing emotional intelligence and increased relational awareness, creating optimal mental and physical health, cultivating an excellent character, and architecting a high-performance life.

    The Importance of Cultivating a High-Performance Growth Mindset

    I believe this is an unparalleled time to learn why you need to develop, cultivate, and maintain a positive growth mindset to achieve high-performance results across all areas of your life. We will answer the following questions: Why do I need a personal growth mindset? What does it mean to have a personal growth mindset? Why do I need a High-Performance Growth Plan?

    Scientific American published an article, Is it Time for a Personal Growth Mindset? Carol Dweck, who coined the concept of a growth mindset, states that individuals who possess a growth mindset believe that intelligence can be developed over time, unlike those who possess a fixed mindset. She explains that a fixed mindset believes that intelligence remains stable across the life span.

    Carol Dweck suggests that the internal drive to actualize oneself and realize one’s potential is critical to their well-being. She also points out that the drive for personal growth decreases with age (Kaufman 2015).
