Why it is essential to spend time on the things that are important but not urgent.
... and much, MUCH more!
As a special bonus, Scott also provides thought-provoking answers to questions like:
Why is worrying like praying in reverse?
Why do I eat pizza and chocolate when I want to lose weight?
Why is 50% of the population overweight or obese?
Why is change scary?
Why would someone stay in a job or relationship that isn't making them happy?
Why is the news designed to make us feel dumb and scared?
Why do I miss exercise sessions when my health and fitness is important to me?
Why do schools teach us how to play tunnel ball and the recorder, but not how to budget or make your marriage work?
Never before have you had the same opportunity to tap into the knowledge and experience of a proven health, passion and relationship expert, who then takes you by the hand and guides you to REALLY understand how peak health and a positive, resilient mindset are the foundations of a life of abundance, passion and joy – a life where you pursue the things that are important to you and achieve lasting change.
Scott Capelin has ‘been there and done that’. Everything he talks about, every tip, every skill and every technique is taken from his vast experience as a business owner, mentor and entrepreneur who has ridden the waves of both success and despair; a qualified health coach, nutritionist, Pilates instructor, wellness coach and life-purpose coach who has devoted over 30,000 hours to changing the lives of thousands of clients; and a husband and father of three who has experienced the pain of drifting apart from his wife and the joy of rebuilding and strengthening their bonds.
Scott has 'made every mistake a person can make' but emerged out the other side happier, more fulfilled, and fiercely driven to help others maximise happiness, health, fitness and fulfilment in their own lives.

About the Author
I firmly believe that the universe directs us towards a place that we belong. I've had my fair share of ups and downs, and now I have a beautiful family and a thriving business and I feel like I am exactly where I am supposed to be. If it was not for the hard times I've been through, I would not be where I am now, so I am grateful for them. I can see that everything really does happen for a reason
~ Scott Capelin ~
A qualified wellness coach, nutritionist, and life coach with a Bachelor of Commerce, Scott Capelin comes to you having owned nine successful businesses over a 16-year period, with extensive business mentoring experience, and over 20 years working with clients in the fitness industry and wellness arena.
By his own admission, however, Scott has also had his fair share of disappointment – losing one business, his livelihood, and his family home while his wife was pregnant with their third child. Never one to give up, he worked to gain it all back, and more, within two years.
Seeing his role as helping others achieve a healthy, happy lifestyle through balancing family, fitness, and finances, Scott Capelin is passionate about providing advice and encouragement as someone who has 'been there and done that!'
Dedication
To my wife, Lauren. Thank you for your unwavering support and belief in me.
Thank you for your love, strength and courage.
I admire you more than you will ever know.
I love the way you believe that anything is possible.
Thank you for partnering with me through this life. It is truly an honour to be your man.
Thank you to the thousands of people who have given me permission to help them with their goal to live healthier and more fulfilling life.
Your journey has also been mine, and I have learned as much from you as you have from me.
My Journey
After high school, I completed a business degree and entered the corporate world. I didn’t mind the work, however, I couldn’t see myself there for the next few decades.
My colleagues worked long hours, often in roles that I felt weren’t meaningful, and I noticed their health and family lives suffered as they climbed the corporate ladder.
Whilst in that job, I studied to obtain my fitness industry qualifications. In my corporate role in 1998, when I asked my boss for time off and he said no, I knew I wouldn’t be an employee for much longer.
I also worked pretty hard for two years and received a pay rise of only 4%, which took my annual salary from $37,000 to $38,480. It was time to make a move to doing something more fulfilling, and learn all the skills I need to be able to do it for myself.
Deep down I knew there must be a way to do work I love, with people I like, the way I want. I ditched the business suit to become a personal trainer.
I remember speaking to my dad about wanting to change. At that stage, I had completed a four-year Bachelor of Commerce degree at university and spent a further four years in the big business arena. Making a complete change to start from scratch and follow my passion, seemed like I would be wasting the best part of the previous decade.
I remember my dad taking a moment to pause as he thought. He said, Just do whatever makes you happy
. I am eternally grateful to him for his support and advice, and the way that he and my mum were always there for me (and still are).
They never pushed me into anything. They supported me whenever I needed it. I made the career change and from day one, I absolutely loved it!
I moved into health club management and over the course of the next 20 years, ended up opening, building, and selling nine health clubs, two beauty salons, and a consulting business, not only in Australia but overseas as well.
I also studied to become a qualified nutritionist, Pilates instructor, NLP Practitioner, wellness advisor, and life purpose coach - all while coaching and mentoring many other individuals and business owners in the areas of health, business, and lifestyle coaching.
What I have discovered throughout my time as a health and lifestyle coach, entrepreneur and business mentor is the lack of balance in people’s lives, poor awareness regarding the things that make them truly happy, never-ending stress, limited time, an ongoing search for passion and meaning, and minimal awareness regarding the requirements to build truly powerful relationships around them.
I learned the hard way how little I knew about many of these areas too. I witnessed people with loads of money who were miserable or in poor health; people with great health who hated their work; and people struggling in relationships that couldn’t seem to light the flame within.
I worked with people in a health and business coaching capacity who thought they wanted to lose weight or make more money, but on a deeper level, they just wanted to get more out of life. They wanted more happiness. On a broader level, they sought more fulfilment.
And, at the most basic level, they wanted more peace because their angst stemmed from living a life that wasn't in alignment with who they truly were or what they really wanted.
They say coaches and speakers often cover the topics they need most themselves. It's almost like the coach has a dark side and as a result, a coach sometimes feels like an impostor because they are not perfect. However, hopefully, the imperfections make them relatable; they certainly make a coach empathetic.
The aim is to shine a light on the darkness in the hope the coach can help other people who may be struggling with the same issues. I've had a lot of success and my fair share of failures, and I have definitely learned a lot more from the failures.
I’ve never had much trouble staying in shape. However, over the course of my life, I’ve had to do a lot of work addressing my relationships and the people I associate with, the way I look at life, my goals and life path, and ultimately, the decisions I make. I’ve been down the wrong road a few times and made poor decisions.
As a result, I’ve gained a great deal of clarity and wisdom regarding the life I want to live and the qualities I want to espouse. I want to help other people in these areas because I understand the power and conviction that can be attained by understanding exactly who you are, what you want and how to get it.
Through my own life journey, I've realised that my primary goal is to help people maximise opportunities to live a healthy life with passion, purpose, and positive relationships.
Nothing sums up my goal more than my experience with Matt. Matt was a 140-kilogram accountant who worked to lose 50 kilograms and ended up becoming a successful mentor in his own right. It was Matt’s health and weight that initially acted as the catalyst for change in his life. Ultimately, this led to the confidence to change careers and go on to meet the woman he married.
Life balance, health, and relationships are like the dial lock on a safe. It takes just a few clicks in the right direction – along with some support, accountability, and care – to unlock the door to passion, joy, clarity, confidence, fulfilment, and vitality.
About the Book
inShape inLove inSpired! is about getting the most you can from this ONE LIFE you have. It is about knowing who you truly are, what sets your soul on fire, and about doing everything you can to ensure your life revolves around those very things.
The three sections of this book are not mutually exclusive. They intertwine and have a relationship with each other. When you lead a life of passion, purpose, and inspiration, you are more likely to be a positive person and, therefore, more likely to take care of your health and fitness.
Similarly, when you look great and feel great as a result of regular exercise and quality nutrition (the topic of section one, inShape), it has a significant effect on your self-esteem, which gives you the confidence to build and nurture positive relationships in your life and leave the relationships that do not benefit you, all of which makes up the topic of the second section, inLove.
You make other self-assured decisions such as ensuring you are in the right career and have adequate levels of faith and belief to get outside your comfort zone and pursue things that set your soul alight, which is the focus of the final section, inSpired.
A large part of this book discusses how to use peak health as the foundation for an abundant life. I take great pride in being a supportive mentor who empowers clients to take responsibility for their health and ultimately their entire life.
If I claim to be an expert in these areas, it is only because I have spent a lifetime studying these topics. I have made every mistake a person can make, and I've come out the other side happier, more fulfilled and more passionate about helping others maximise happiness and fulfilment in their own lives.
The tone is intended to be humorous, raw, real and supportive. At times it may be blunt. The stories and percentages mentioned throughout the book are based on my experiences and anecdotal evidence. This book is designed to help people who may have struggled to get their mindset right to lose weight or to live a life they love. It's not meant to be statistically driven because I want it to be readable.
It's a book for anyone who feels they can squeeze more goodness out of life, but isn't sure where to start or if it's even possible. Taking control of your health and your life is more of a mental battle than a physical one. It can be a sensitive and overwhelming topic at times. There is not a one-size-fits-all approach.
My skill lies in helping you cultivate positive lifestyle changes by guiding you through a process of self-discovery. You will identify the unlimited choices available, enabling you to reach your goals and make them stick. Your own thinking will be challenged.
When you try and make changes you will be questioned by those closest to you. You will learn how to fill your mind with positivity and cultivate the right attitude to promote positive, lasting change. You will discover how you can improve your health in some simple, yet critical ways, making your approach to peak fitness smarter and not harder.
This book is not all about strategy, it is also about mindset and support. I find it is rarely a lack of education that's responsible for someone not being where they want to be with their health and their life in general. I have a strong history of supporting people and walking beside them on the road to improved health, fitness, fulfilment and self-confidence.
I never felt like I fit in growing up, and now I am passionate about
