1. Fools' List
One day, King Jimmy was discussing with his advisers when a person came and said that he was a trader of horses, who lived in a far-off country and used to visit various countries to sell his horses of good breeding. He told the emperor that if he wanted to buy his horses, he should give him 5000 gold coins in advance. Then he would bring the horses after two days.
King Jimmy expressed his wish to buy those horses and gave 5000 gold coins to him. The trader promised to bring horses in two days and went away. The same day, King Jimmy saw that the Minister was writing something on a piece of paper.
Jimmy asked the Minister, What are you writing?
The Minister said, Well, I am making a list of the fools of the world.
Jimmy looked at the list and found his name written on the top. Oh, how dare you write my name at the top of the fools' list? Do you consider me a fool?
asked the king in an angry tone.
The Minister smiled and said, Your majesty, if you are not a fool, then why would you give 5000 gold coins to a stranger?
After listening to him, Jimmy said, Well, that is why. You are angry with me. You are doubtful that the trader would come back, but I am certain that he would come back.
Following that, the king asked the minister, What would you do if he returned?
The Minister said, If the trader comes back, then I shall cut your name and write his name on the top of the fools' list.
The king began to laugh heartily at the minister's witty reply.
2. Pearl Necklace
King Jimmy was sitting and listening to the problems of the people when two brothers came before him. The younger brother was saying that his father possessed a very expensive necklace, but the elder brother was defending himself by saying that the necklace was not original. It was an imitation of the original necklace, and he had lost it somewhere.
After listening to the elder brother's reply, the younger brother said that he didn't have any grudges against anyone for losing the necklace, nor did he want any part of their father's wealth, but he was not able to tolerate the lie that his brother was telling. The necklace was expensive and original. It was not an imitation. His father was so large-hearted that he would give original jewelry to his servants, so why would he keep a cheap necklace for his own family?
They would have decided if the necklace had been brought there, but Jimmy was perplexed because, according to his elder brother, the necklace had been lost. King Jimmy called up the wise Minister.
The Minister understood the entire story, and thereafter, he told both the brothers to bring the boxes where the expensive jewelry was kept. They were supposed to bring the boxes the next day.
The next day, both brothers came back with empty boxes. The Minister saw all the boxes, then he saw a small jewelry box. The Minister wondered, Such an expensive jewelry box! What did your father keep in it?
The younger brother said, He used to keep his most precious pearl necklace in it.
Then the minister said, "Your majesty, just think over it. The wealthy man used to keep his most precious things in this expensive jewelry box. When the jewelry box is so expensive and is made up of original jewels, then
