    The media reflects reality.

The reasons why a newspaper or a television channel broadcasts more or less news on a subject (a typical case is news on insecurity), do not have to do with the truth but with commercial convenience (higher rating) or politics.

Although the police chronicles are something old, the label insecurity is not so old.

POLICE CASES DO NOT BY THEMSELVES IMPLY INSECURITY. INSECURITY IS A READING, AN INTERPRETATION, OF A FACT

ALL INFORMATION IS IN ITSELF AN INTERPRETATION: in the case of newspapers, for example, ... each one will organize the headlines on the cover in their own way, prioritizing some facts (...) making others invisible.

    "The media constructs reality

Reality does not exist, but is created by television (...) the media define ideologies and condition the decisions of citizens"

It would be the opposite idea to the previous one (the media reflect reality): TO INFORM IS TO INTERPRET AND BUILD A LOOK ON REALITY.

This myth has two VERSIONS: in the first, the media always manipulate information and citizens. Here we have the image of a group of journalists planning how to fabricate a reality to produce an effect on the population. It's not that this can't happen, but it's not believable that every time a group wants to cheat they succeed. For example, since 1976 there was a planned disinformation about state terrorism that was being applied. This premise seemed to work there. However, the lie of we are winning, fueled by the media during the Malvinas war, was not enough: although the myth spread for a while, reality soon disproved it.

This myth ASSUMES THAT PEOPLE ONLY GET INFORMED THROUGH THE MEDIA, as if they weren't on the streets, public transport, squares or their jobs.

This myth is linked to the MYTH OF EXCULPATION, which presents SOCIETY AS A VICTIM of manipulation. The plastic artist León Ferrari titled one of his works We didn't know, in reference to the repeated phrase I didn't know anything by many people, asked about why he hadn't reacted to the repression. Ferrari pasted news from the time of the dictatorship that circumvented censorship or that were published to produce terror.

The semiotician Oscar Landi wrote an essay called READING BETWEEN THE LINES, in which he argued that in authoritarian contexts, readers develop an ability to interpret the news, reading in their texts more than what they explicitly say.

On the other hand, Perón's phrase is well
