Say Yes to Yourself: You Do Not Need to Pair Up
()
About this ebook
In this, her second book, Calvert narrates the wild ride of her year dating after divorce. Each chapter outlines an encounter and what was learned from her mistakes. She tells about her experiences with everyone from the Patio Furniture Guy, to Mr. Ex-Chippendale Dancer, the Future Dateline Story, Mama’s Boy, and more.
Say Yes to Yourself shares how Calvert realized she was attracting the wrong men. She needed to get clearer in terms of what she wanted, what her deal breakers were, and what her boundaries were. That meant turning inward and figuring out who she was. Her experiences, while humorous, led to a fundamental principle every single person on the dating scene should know: you do not need to pair up. You can be happily single instead of unhappily married.

Preface
Twenty-year-old me was cute, smart, adventurous, and highly in demand; however, I did not see myself that way. I suffered from low self-esteem due to a rough childhood. I married a grandiose narcissist during a low point in my life. I will not go there, because that is a different story for a different day. This book is about what I did after that marriage ended. Whom did I date? Why? What lessons can you learn from my mistakes and the mistakes of these dates?
I’ve changed the names to protect people, and I’ve also modified some jobs and other identifiers, but you will get the idea. I live in the town next to Taylor Swift’s point of origin, so I may have learned a thing or two about using pain to create something. I will not start with the first person I dated. I think I need to save the best for last, so let’s start somewhere else. Besides, I live in a small town; I would not want to hurt anyone’s feelings. The purpose of the book is to save you time and energy.

Set Boundaries
Patio Furniture Guy and I met online. He was more than six feet tall, boasted military service, had dark hair and light eyes, and was a Libra. His photos showed an attractive, confident, fun-loving person who could clean up when he wanted to do so for an occasion. We started talking through Facebook. Eventually, we exchanged numbers to have real phone calls. I could hear his voice, and he could establish that he was not being catfished. You are too good to be true, girl,
he said. He
