    Introduction

Once upon a time, the only people who practiced meditation regularly were the Buddhists or Hindus in monasteries and ashrams. Since the western world discovered meditation, it has become more of spiritual practice rather than a religious one. Today, meditation is secular, and people from all walks of life are practicing it - no one will bat an eyelid if you tell them you meditate every morning. Some doctors even recommend meditation to their patients to help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

Perhaps you have thought about trying meditation but do not know how to begin, or you think meditation is only for the selected few who can sit in a lotus position. The truth is meditation is so much more than sitting in a lotus position or chanting.
