The first Dad I ever seen, Derek Smith
This may come as a surprise to many but It's been on my heart for many many years. Some call him Derek I call him the first Dad I've ever seen. While growing up I knew Derek to be a father of two children. Not until I became an adult I put the pieces together and to my surprise he was not the biological father of two children but only one. Who would have known? This man combed heaven and earth for these children, this man sweated blood and shed tears for these children, this man dealt with a Fludd for these children. Little does he know I watched his every move, I learned what it took to be a father not by his words but his actions. He never missed anything, so when I had kids I never missed anything, he drove his family everywhere, so when I had kids I drove my family everywhere, he never walked away, so when I had kids I never walked away. There were so many things about this Dad that inspired me to be the Dad I'm today. From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you, thank you for stepping up to the plate, thank you for being the first dad I ever seen. Thank you for breaking the generational mindset I grew up with. I love you!!!
