    INTRODUCTION

Most people hope and pray for a long and healthy life. However, few people take any other action to ensure that they will enjoy long healthy years. Health and wellness has been defined as the state of physical, mental and psychosocial well-being. This concept holds that when all bodily functions are proceeding normally (physical well-being), this allows our mental and psychological energy to be directed towards our everyday actions and decisions, (mental well being), thus putting us in the best position to enjoy our psychosocial environment (psychosocial well-being).

The process whereby health is achieved and maintained have been well studied and documented for thousands of years. These studies and research have led to the discovery of some fundamental truths, which ensure continued health and wellness.

    Overall Design of Human Body

The human body is a wonderful machine of amazing design, and complex function. The human body’s complexity, depends entirely on the existence of (intangible) life force, chi vitality, or innate intelligence,. Without this life-force, the body disintegrates and decays. Similarly when chi is not fully expressed in all the organs, and systems of the body, the body will experience disease. When life force is fully expressed, the fundamental design elements, of the regenerative process can continue un-impeded. The body is made up of trillions of cells, each being an individual expression of life, and non of which has a life span of more than two years. All of the cells of our bodies are constantly dying and been replaced. This regenerative process is most evident to us during wound healing, where damaged tissue (skin) is replaced and/or repaired over a period of time.

A further fundamental design feature is the immune system which functions to protect the body from external invaders, (bacteria, viruses, and microbes) as well as control, and co-ordinate healing mechanisms. The immune system function depends primarily upon the lymph blood the nervous system and the endocrine system. Thus we can see that, the human body is designed to maintain a state of continued health, and wellness as long as the life force, is fully expressed throughout the organism.

Destructive forces (stress): Although, the body is designed to maintain a state of continued health, there are environmental stressors, which are difficult to overcome, and may interrupt or alter the normal function of the body. These stressors are continually around us, and are the primary cause of disease. Stress can be classified into various categories including physical, chemical, and psychological stress. The effect of any stressor, which cannot be overcome, is an alteration or interruption of the normal function of the system. The result is disease, loss of function, decreased vitality, and disability. Regardless of what type or category of stress a body is subjected to, the result interrupts, those fundamental
