    Words To Live By

When a person in need reaches out to you

Think twice before you slap that hand away

When the shoe is on the other foot, you’ll know its true

Everybody will need help some day

You could turn away like you don’t see

Whats right in front of your face

Is that really how you want to be

Or is it time for a change of pace

Don’t let somebody steal your joy or take your peace of mind

If you’re on a pursuit of happiness, seek and you shall find

Something in your life that gives you a reason to live

If you have more than you need don’t be afraid to give

What profits a man to gain the world and lose his soul

How blessed are we to live free, our story not yet told

If you have nothing worth dying for then is life worth living

We gather hand in hand for thanksgiving

Thankful for what we have, and blessing yet to come

You may not have it all but you still have more than some

Look at the bright side of life, it could always be worse

Don’t let negativity haunt your life like some curse

Show love to receive love and pray for those who fear the light

That stray from the path of righteousness and choose the dark of night

When bad things do come your way, don’t let it bring you down

God won’t put more on us then we can bare, He can turn our lives around

Don’t fight hate with more hate and never argue with fools

Because from a distance you can’t tell who’s who

Don’t hate on another’s success and covet their possessions

God has a blessing for you as well so there’s not need for all the stressing

Don’t take pleasure in anothers misery no matter what they do

Karma is never far away and the next time it could be you

Open your mind before you open your mouth and thats a fact

That in life its more important what you give then what you get back

Believe in yourself, even if know one else can see your dreams

Find a reason to smile, its never as bad as it seems

Learn to let the past go whether its good or bad

Or you will never grow, you can’t miss what you never had

Its not how many times you fall, its how many times you get back up

Be true to your words, if you say it mean it

A lie can’t defeat truth but it will try to come between it

When the writing is on the wall, take time to read it

Good advice means nothing if you don’t heed it

Even if you think you may not need it

A day without learning something new is a day wasted

How could you love food you’ve never tasted

    People wouldn’t be as needy

    Without people being greedy

    Give a little

    Live a little

    Do more, expect less

Win or lose, try your best

Keep your head up, not down

Or you’ll miss out on whats around

We all make mistakes, take it in stride

Keep moving forward, don’t run back and hide

Or you’ll never reach your full potential, be what you’re meant to be

Conquer your fear and self doubt then you’ll see

Humble yourself or God will do it for you

Thats enough for now, wasn’t trying to bore you

Just some words I needed to share

    Why? Because I care

If it lifts one person’s spirits then my job is done

The battle is over, victory is won

    Insecure

I’m so self conscious and I feel so alone

Too afraid to show my face so I tend to stay home

These clothes don’t fit and my hair isn’t right

I can’t help but cry and hold my pillow at night

Hoping when the morning comes something just might change

Maybe if I was beautiful people wouldn’t act so strange

When I walk down the streets or drive my car

I try to imagine how life would be if I was a star

Everyone would like me, everyone would care

Everyone would love me, I wish I could be there

To hear their compliments and be the object of their envy

To be the foundation of their dreams but I just don’t have it in me

However, this fantasy life is far from my reality here

In my own little space surrounded by doubt and fear

I try to run from self doubt but I can’t seem to escape

When I look into the mirror I wish it would just break

So I wouldn’t have to see myself each day

When I know I’ll look the exact same way

I work so hard to make a living, I try even harder to fit in

This cruel world is so unforgiving, will anyone just let me in

Accept me for me and rescue me from my destruction

Show me a way for self reconstruction

Do I accecpt my fate and give up my hope

I’m hanging off the cliff on a dwendling rope

My eyes are dry and I can no longer cry

I want to die and no one cares why

Because I am nobody and nobody is me

So blinded am I, it’s too dark to see

My heart is so broken I can’t find the pieces

To put it together, this pain makes me so sick

I need a way to turn things around

So I can pick my heart off the ground

One day I realized that the reason I couldn’t see

I wasn’t hiding from the world, I was hiding from me

All these years of listening to others when I should’ve listened to myself

The self-pity and self-hate I had inside were eating away at my health

I prayed to God to forgive me for all these years of doubt

I decided that if I changed myself within then it would show out

I made it a point to smile no matter how rough things got

Plus to always keep my cool when things get a little hot

I gave love a chance but first it was the love I have for me

I’m gonna reach my true potential of what I was meant to be

I found out there was nothing wrong with me except thinking that something was

Now people can’t see why this smile is so bright and I do it just because

When I look in the mirror I love what I see now

When people see me they can’t help but ask how

To those with questions I offer advice

Love yourself and don’t think twice

Smile even when others aren’t so nice

Your self-esteem is at risk, and that’s too high a price

Focus on the positive, although negative may appear

Be strong outside and in, keep your true friends near

If you have nothing nice to say it’s best to keep your peace

Don’t keep things bottled inside when it’s best to just release

Take care of your mind, body, and soul

When life gets too hectic, always maintain control

It felt good to help others who were once in the same position as I

Things won’t change overnight but you must continue to try

The end justifies the means so you must struggle and perservere

Keep your head held high and you have nothing to fear

My war was fought and won so now my thoughts are pure

My heart is filled with joy and I am no longer insecure

    The Wake Up

I wonder why we act before we think

Where can we find the missing link

Why we hate on others and bring them down

Yet smile so falsely when they’re around

Why don’t we know we deserve so much more

So scared to find out what life has in store

Why do we believe lies instead of seeking the truth

Mentally convicting another with no evidence or proof

So eager to accept negativity, hidden by the night

Afraid to be bold, why do we run from the light

If ignorance is bliss, then the world will pass you by

Nothing will change if you don’t, the question I ask is why

Why is it not cool to be smart but being mediocre is acceptable

We have forgotten how far we’ve come, not even respectable

Mentally declining at a record speed

Life’s truth in books we’re too busy to even read

TV telling us how to act, how to feel

We’ve lost perspective of whats real

    Emotionally wrecked, full of fear

Until we’re made weak, easy to steer

Too busy fighting each other to even see

What life is truly meant to be

Its not about what you wear but whats inside

How you treat others, not where you reside

The biggest house, jewelry and the most expensive car

Worthless trinkets, its not who you emulate its who you are

So sad to see a person willing to kill over something they don’t need

Wasting money on things of no value, mentally starved yet you won’t feed

Too consumed by lust, too overwhelmed with greed

Hopelessness sets in, no desire to succeed

Everybody has a gift, its up to you to find

Not try to exploit anothers, envy will have you blind

Too busy worrying what others have, now you’re further behind

Hating yourself will get you nowhere fast, change starts in the mind

Gifts are found within us all, we bless others when we share

Sometimes all it takes is a simple smile to show someone you care

Don’t compare your gifts to others unless its how you can make them work together

You need patience and perserverance, be willing to do whatever

Your gift may not seem as big or important but its value can’t even be measured

The joy we can bring to one another should be what is treasured

    Just think
