Secrets of the Heart: Poetry That Explains What We Are Truly Feeling
()
About this ebook
Secrets of the Heart, Michael Vincent Dlasks second poetry collection, expresses the challenges of everyday life that he faced. Sometime he disappeared into the background and felt as though his existence was being ignored by everyone. This collection of heartfelt poetry strives to help people understand that even though everyday life might be hidden, its never forgotten.
Dlasks poetry symbolizes the realism and hardship that many people try to hide from others each and every day. The messages of these poems provide a better, more nuanced perspective on the life we live. Believe in yourself and learn to trust your inner-self. Remember the heart is the key to complete and total happiness. Fill it with love instead of regret, peace instead of hatred, and truth instead of constant lies. No matter what, just be yourself.
Michael Vincent Dlask
Born on March 1, 1977 at 5:06pm, Michael Vincent Dlask has been a typical person who has a hidden talent and passion for poetry. At a young age, he has developed these skills as an intereflection of his mind. Being raised in Chicago IL, he is the middle child of five kids, and everything was a challenge to him. He is the type to tell you the exact truth as long as you are willing to listen. He might come to many people as a fake, but I assure you that he is 100% real. No matter what, he is the type to achieve his goals and dreams and doesn’t let anybody get in the way of that. He is the type that if he likes you he would make sure to his ability that you are well taken care of with no harm done. His ambition to do things for himself is phenomenal. He makes sure that if he wants something he tries his best to get it. There is something about him that makes you want to do wonderful things. He is a well-rounded person. He enjoys being around his niece Madison. But also deep down in his heart he would love to be with his wonderful niece Kaitlyn, who isn’t here anymore. His interests include playing pool, enjoys movies, and being able to have fun and be serious at the same time. All in all Michael is a great poet and has many hopes and dreams to make sure that the people that are dear to him, especially Frank and Patricia (his older brother and older sister), who would never forget him.

Alone
Take away all the fame and fortune and what do you have left
You think they are the only things that you need to be happy
When in fact you don’t need any of the above
The best things might be hidden but they are well kept
If you look hard enough you won’t be able to see
Instead of being pulled closer you would rather shove
Losing everything isn’t the worst of anything
Unless you didn’t have a thing in the world to lose
Many people like to write and most love to sing
While the rest rather forget and go straight to the booze
You should think long and hard and believe in your heart
And treasure the things that are most important to you
It might be nothing to others but it’s all you got
Knowing that you won’t ever change and are not about to start
Faking your ways is the only thing that you can’t do
Trying to be something that you wish you were not
Don’t be the person to be waiting for the ringing of the phone
Because as long as you have something you will never be alone
Anger
Something you can control, most of the time, but not always
That’s why I learned at a young age to occupy my mind
If you think of other things instead of hurting yourself
You’ll find out that it’s not worth getting upset about
And the more anger you acquire, the less you can get rid of it
Ripping your insides, making you suffer for many days
Knowing that soon, your soul is what you must find
So remove your books and put that anger back on the shelf
It’s better there than with you, no matter the amount
Even though we all have it, it’s something we won’t admit
Can’t ask for help, if we’re used to doing it independently
So we torture many different and difficult things
Not knowing how much pain we really were going through
Pulling our lives closer and closer to the limitations of danger
Thinking that flames was the only thing we could see
Learning why we can’t express our true feelings
Making us feel like we didn’t even know what to do
So we should think before we release our anger
Beneath
Many people think that they can tell a person just by the way they look
Making you wonder how it is possible, if they can’t see what’s inside
Sure they can be tough on the outside, but what if it’s a disguise
Never assume the expected, always prepare for the unusual
Because if you are, then there won’t be any hidden surprises
Unless they are so clever to escape your mysterious suspicions
So instead of being quick to the draw, learn to get to know them
Because you’ll never know, what lies beneath their heart
Whatever it might be, you wouldn’t be able to find it in any book
In fact you shouldn’t be shocked
