Born in the countryside of rural Jamaica, with a spirit of righteousness, a heart of love, and a positive attitude towards life, second time publisher Selvin McRae who has given you a poetry book filled with positive thoughts and words of wisdom titled “The Occupied Mind” has once again written another book with an intention to make a difference and vows to show you the only good way to life is to live a life of love daily. From an early age, his family instilled the importance of maintaining high regards for God and having strong values and respect for all mankind as he experienced life in this cruel, sinful world. The small fishing community Parottee where he is from is consisted of friends and family whom have lent a helping hand into molding him with strict discipline and respect for those who had made sacrifices for him to be able to have the freedom to one day become the man they knew he was destined to be. At an early age he knew the time would come to embark on his personal journeys of life to see what else the world had to offer. After finishing Parottee Primary and St. Elizabeth Technical, he migrated Jamaica in the early nineties to the United States in search of betterment. Enrolled at Valencia Community College in Orlando Florida, he found himself at a place where his passion for writing would excel, during his literature classes. Being away from close family and friends, writing became his comfort and his life experiences would later fill pages of journals that would later turn into poems. He combined his love for his family, that of music production which is his profession and his passion for the art of writing, into a legacy he can leave behind for his children as well as every citizen of this Earth. For Selvin J McRae aka Ewan, the journey has just begun and this book is the long walk he has taken spiritually and mentally. As you read the pages of this book, each line will tell a different story, revealing real life situations; some of which you might be able to relate to others you may not. I give the glory to God, great things he has done. He gave me the knowledge to apply my positive thoughts to give you The Guilty Truth Revealed, and previously The Occupied Mind.

I am humbled and much appreciative of the love and support I receive from my family. The overwhelming contribution has been extra ordinary, and there is no way I could have completed this project without the aid of my loving wife, who co wrote a couple pieces and my four energetic boys who are my biggest fans.

I’m grateful for the support of the many persons who have helped me through the process of this project, whether it was giving me ideas, support, advice or even encouragements. Dwayne Taylor, my good friend, who co wrote a couple of these pieces, you are appreciated. To my associates who have helped me to gather my inspirations by allowing me in your presence and shared your experiences with me, I’m thankful.

A Better Tomorrow

I will try to live a life of love today

And of course tomorrow I’ll do the same

However I’m convinced that our actions

Are sometimes that not of ours, so who is to be blame

Don’t judge me for my work of yesterday

Pray with me for tomorrow is a better day

Give me a chance to do right and make it better

Remembering the race isn’t for the swift and time is the master

The strength of a man isn’t measured

By what he says he is able to do

Yet suicide I never contemplated
