INTRODUCTION
The most important key is knowledge.
—Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming
I’ve meant to do this for quite a while.
I’ve wanted to come up with a simple resource for people who are interested in meditation, mysticism, mental exploration, personal growth/development, and cultivating consciousness. I kept thinking about different ideal tools to create, what would be the perfect tool (how I can create it, etc.), but then I decided it’s more important to get started with something and then you can build on it and improve it from there (which is one of the tips I’ll discuss later).
Having said that, in this book, I’ll be presenting you with over 101 proven tips for powerful meditation that you can use throughout your practice of meditation as well as the rest of your life.
I have spent the last fifteen years of my life playing with different methods, techniques, and principles of developing the mind. It took quite a bit of time, money, and loads of practice; but the results in my life have been absolutely amazing.
• I can concentrate incredibly well even in distracting environments.
• I can relax quickly and deeply even in very tense environments.
• I can see the humor and smile in most situations.
• I tend to learn new skills quickly and easily.
• I am far more open to new learning and new perspectives than I ever was before.
• I’ve been told that I have an incredibly peaceful presence.
• I’ve been told that I seem blissful all the time (which is funny, because I still have good days and bad days; I still have ups and downs).
• Virtually everyone I meet seems to like me (and they usually don’t know why).
• As I grow more forgiving and more understanding, I feel better, and the people around me feel better as well.
All of these results are easily possible for you (and much quicker than you realize) if you are willing to study these tips and play with them in your own life.
In this book, I’m going to explain the Master Keys of meditation, how they help you get quicker results in any situation you might encounter, and then break them down into specific tips.
Many tips will relate to other tips. When you start to play with meditation, personal growth, and self-exploration, you will begin to notice there is a certain holographic nature of consciousness, particularly when you begin to experience moments of Energy Oneness—that timeless connection with all that is, the disappearance of illusions of separation.
Besides, the more times you expose yourself to the information (even if it is basic information or variations of the same information), the more deeply you will understand the information and the ever-expanding myriad ways in which you can apply it!
Just as a heads-up on the structure of this book, I’ll start out by telling you what I’m going to finish with.
The most important piece, at least for most of us, is relaxation!
Starting with simple relaxation and carrying a little bit of it into the rest of your life will be incredibly powerful for you.
But I talk about relaxation all the time.
I’ve done tons of posts on it. There are several videos on it. If you follow PeacefulProsperity.com,
you should be well versed in relaxation.
So I will speak about relaxation later.
The first Master Key we’ll cover will allow you to generate more relaxation, skill, wealth, or any other quality you would like to develop in your life.
But there are a few other things we’ll need to discuss first.
Things like . . .
HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS BOOK
When the student is ready, the master appears.
—Buddhist Saying
Be mindful.
There’s much more to this than meditation.
med-i-ta-tion
[med-i-tey-shun]
—noun
1. the act of meditating.
2. continued or extended thought; reflection; contemplation.
3. devout religious contemplation or spiritual introspection.
(From dictionary.com)
Definition 1 is obvious, and it doesn’t help us much. Definition 2 isn’t too bad, although it doesn’t draw a distinction from standard daily thought. I do like the metaphor of continued reflection.
Definition 3 provides us with spiritual introspection,
which is good, but it begs further definition (what do we mean by spiritual
?) and limits the practice in scope.
I’m going to give you my broad definition:
4. the conscious use of awareness to alter experience.
That doesn’t give us all the useful specifics that we want, but we’ll get to those.
And as you consciously use awareness to alter your experience, it is important to remember that the primary key is practice.
Play with the tips.
Play with them as you read. Play with them as you go about your day.
There are several ways to absorb the information here:
1. Study one tip at a time and practice it. This is the slow and steady wins the race
method. You can meditate on any one of these tips (considering the concepts), and most of these tips can be used as a stand-alone meditation process.
2. Study one Master Key at a time and practice it. I like this approach a lot. Here, you pay attention to the individual tips, but primarily as a means to more deeply understand the underlying Master Keys, the principles that make it all work.
3. Read the whole thing through and then use whatever stands out most in your mind. When I really find the material interesting, this is the approach that I tend to use, not intentionally, but just because I tend to keep reading every word until I finish the whole thing. Then I reflect back on what stands out most. I recall all the best images and feelings from the book. I play with it then move on to the next thing, and then frequently, I will also read the material again.
4. Notice the space. No matter how you decide to immerse yourself in the information and techniques described in this book, take note of the space included around the majority of the tips (most of the tips sit at the top of a blank page). When you pay attention to the space around the content, you will begin to notice the environment, or context, throughout your life. Ultimately, this gives you greater appreciation for both content and context. Eventually you will begin to recognize the context within which the activity of your mind occurs. Some describe this greater context as Source. Some call it God. I like Energy Oneness. However you like to describe this identification with ultimate context, one of the easiest ways to begin experiencing it is to simply notice and appreciate the space within which content arises. In this book, you can just notice the white space of the page as you read the tips.
There are also several different types of people who will vastly benefit from this book. You may realize you fit one or more of the following descriptions:
1. You might want to learn how to meditate quickly and easily. This is where most of us start. It is good to develop a very simple and straightforward understanding of meditation. This makes your practice easier. As you continue to practice and play, you will further refine and deepen your understanding.
2. You might want to take your meditation practice to the next level. You may already know a little bit or a lot about meditation, you might already practice a little bit or a lot, but you very wisely recognize that you can always learn more and understand more. No matter how skillful you become in any art, it is always good to remember that you can always continue to learn, grow, and deepen your understanding.
3. You might be looking for methods to more easily integrate meditation into your life. It’s one thing to do formal practice, but it is a bit more challenging to bring the meditative state to your day-to-day life. This guide will help you; turning daily life into meditation (or prayer) is ultimately what this is all about.
4. You might be trying to find the holy grail of self-help and personal development. On
