About this ebook

Elizabeth Redhead Phillips life changed in 2010 when God began showing her signs and visions and shared powerful words for the people of Haiti after an earthquake devastated their country. In her first collection of poetry and prose, Phillip shares inspirational writings that reflect her profound exploration of spirituality, natural disasters, the creative process, and the importance of taking a risk, loving others, and speaking from the heart.

Phillip makes no secret of the fact that she lets God pilot her life. In her diverse reflections, she encourages others to put God first, learn from mistakes, work toward goals, help others, and be open to change as His hand gently guides us through life. In poems and prose that cover a wide range of relatable topics, Phillip not only reveals her challenges, but also her joys as she embraces the value of life, a family bond, and unconditional love.

Poetry and Prose from My Heart reveals one womans unique journey through life as God lifts her up and gives her strength to survive, make a difference, and find happiness in every day.

    Dedication

    To my Mom in Heaven.

Oh Mother, oh Mother. I sure miss you.

Mother’s Day is coming. I cannot bear this feeling. It’s deep down in my heart. We had a bond between Mother and daughter. We had a love for each other that could only be separated through death.

Even though you left me and went up to Heaven to meet with our Lord, I am satisfied because I know He loves you more. It took me six years to write and express how I feel. Oh Mom, you left me with all your senses. I bought you your favorite food; I watched you enjoy it; you ate everything that was on the plate because you knew there was no tomorrow. If I only knew you were going to leave me so soon, I would have stayed with you at your bedside.

However I left you on Thursday afternoon. We laughed; you had a beautiful smile on your face as usual. You were happy. You told me that the doctor said you were coming home on Friday. When I was getting ready to come to visit you at the hospital, you called me to tell me to take my time. It was afterwards that I realized you wanted to go to meet Jesus in peace because you knew your daughter so well and you did not want me to be there when you went to meet with the Lord.

    I

    As I Walk

As I walk, I talk to my God

Because I know He loves me.

He gives me breath, he gives me strength.

    He is my rock.

    He keeps me alive.

    I stretch out my hands.

I said, Lord, what a marvelous sky!

I look up for His love.

The moon, the sky, and the sun You created.

    You gave us the earth.

You laid out the foundation for us.

    You gave us everything.

    And what did we do?

Men have destroyed your marvelous work here on earth.

Will the world ever be the same?

Will we ever be safe again?

    II

    On Seeing Disaster

I have lived to reach 50 years. My life has just begun. I am walking on solid ground.

My goal in life is to help all people; my aim is to fight for my people.

I have seen lives fall apart; I have seen disaster strike.

People are slipping away, facing danger every day.

    Earthquakes, hurricanes.

I have seen people wash away.

What could one do but pray?

Some are crying out because they are hungry and do not have any food to eat.

Those food pantries are all empty.

There is no food to feed the needy.

    People are losing their homes.

    Some are living in shelters.

    But when these shelters
