WHAT INSPIRED ME TO WRITE THIS BOOK?
I am inspired to write Secrets to a Happy Life
because I know that it will bring inspiration, healing and knowledge to others. Secrets to a Happy Life
tells how to overcome pain and suffering to achieve victory. It will empower and educate people while allowing me to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others knowing that whatever the situation it can be better. It also illustrates to never give up on your dream. It was written to restore and impact your life and to bring you healing because life is choice driven and you can make a decision to live a victorious life. Secrets to a Happy Life
is in no way intended to hurt, but to encourage you even when negative things happen in your life. Without God this would never have been written for you to read. I just want you to know that God empowers and allows us to become an overcomer in adversity. I thank God, family, and friends who inspired me to write this story.
I pray this will bring healing to those that read it. Nothing is impossible with God.
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has send Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations. Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the foreigner Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. Isaiah 61: 1-5

CHAPTER 1
Background
I was born into a family with only brothers. I was the next youngest child, even though everyone thought I was the baby. I was a cute child, with no hair at birth, but my mom kept my hair conditioned and braided so I begin to grow long, black, beautiful hair that went down past my shoulders. My family lived in the rural area of town because my dad was a share cropper, and during the summer, the entire family assisted him in harvesting tobacco. He then sold it at the market in order to feed the family. He also sold cucumbers, peaches, and others things from a large garden that consisted of lots of different vegetables. My grandfather lived with us and grew large watermelons and cantaloupes, which we would break open and eat only the middle top, what is called the heart
of the watermelon. This would upset my grandfather, but it was hard to resist the refreshing watermelons.
It was unusual to have fried chicken, country smoked ham, or country sausage for breakfast with farm fresh scrambled eggs, homemade biscuits with molasses, blackberries or other preserves my mom made. God supplied all our needs.
I lived in a house with no indoor plumbing and our bathroom was an outhouse. We used a bucket to draw water out of a well to use for cooking and we poured well water into an aluminum tub to take a bath. The house was heated by a wood stove in the middle of the floor and when it rained, we used pots to catch the water running from the roof. I would listen to the water drops hitting the roof, and even in these conditions, I was thankful because we had shelter and clothes, and with the food grown on the farm, we were never hungry. God supplied all of our needs, even though having my grandfather living with us meant there weren’t enough rooms for me to have my own separate room; at least not until we moved into a different house. Before they moved
