Poetic Musings of An Old Man - Michael Harvath
THE GIFT I COULDN’T ACCEPT
I was offered a gift I could never take.
I know it took a lot of love, this offer to make.
A gift of a kidney to extend my life.
A gift that he may later need himself in a time of strife.
I’ve lived my life and want him to live his.
He may need that gift he so freely wants to give.
ARE YOU THE FRIEND?
Are you the friend who saw me fall?
Who came to me and made the call?
Are you the friend who saw my need,
and got the EMTs in record speed?
Are you the friend who helped put me on the gurney,
to ease my weary journey?
Are you the friend who held my hand
on the way to the promised land?
Are you the friend who told my family not to grieve,
because you knew in Him I did believe?
Now my friends and family sing.
Just listen and hear their voices ring.
Praise be to Jesus, our Lord and King.
UTOPIA
Imagine life without stress.
A life you live where you choose.
A life with no bad news.
Imagine life where everyone loved each other
like we love our brother or our mother.
A life where greed has no seed,
and a garden we don’t need to weed.
A life where we all succeed.
A life where we have no need.
A life where envy is hard to conceive.
A life without sickness or disease.
All of this is possible if we
