    About the Author

This book is dedicated to my fantastic family. My husband joins me in my miracles and supports my faith in God. My children allow me to love them like crazy! They know my imagination goes far beyond reality, and they let me dream big. I appreciate their tolerance and sacrifice in being a part of this book. I live to love my family.

This dedication also goes to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Divine inspiration gave energy to my creation of this book. My strength flows daily from the Trinity.

    Swept Away by the Spirit

Under warm summer sunshine, morning dew glistened on the soft green grass where they were dancing and singing. All ages, all races, and all denominations were holding hands in a circle going round and round in pure joy. I saw a white haired lady struggle with determination and rise out of her wheel chair. With praises the campers opened their group, and amazingly this miracle woman joined the jig and was swept away into the worship of love.

I couldn’t help but smile, as I hurried past them on my way to work. They were my people now. I greeted them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the college cafeteria. The hostess with the mostest they called me, because I laughed with them and talked with them. It was my summer job to earn my tuition. I enjoyed meeting the people of all the camps, as I checked their meal tickets.

This camp was different. They called themselves Camp Farthest Out. C.F.O. sounded a lot like U.F.O. to me, and they were a little like aliens from heaven. These people traveled from all over the United States to meet for a week on this small college campus. They all believed in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Great joy and love radiated from each person. Their sessions and worship services had no limits on miracles. Because of the hundreds of invitations, I had joined them in the chapel for evening sermons, songs, and prayers. It was glory I’d never known before.

On this summer morning the campers streamed in the dining hall door and surrounded me with their smiles, as I checked them in for breakfast. All of a sudden the peace was pierced by a burst of energy as a man pushed through the crowd. The man was my brother. He was red-faced, out-of-breath, and panted, Linda, Linda! You have to come now! Dad in is the hospital! He had a heart attack, and he may die!

I stood up in shock. I started to cry.

My brother, still racing, headed back out the door. He called over his shoulder, I’ll see you at the hospital at intensive care…

By then I was weeping out loud. I felt conspicuous in front on all those people. That’s when I felt dozens of hands touching me gently, and I looked and hundreds of other hands were reaching out toward me. It started like a wave of whispering prayers and then rose in unison to a swelling thunder that shook the windowpanes. Over four hundred believers prayed in the Holy Spirit for my father to be well. It was like electricity had been shot into me. Those prayers must have also been for my salvation.

I raced away from work, but somehow before I drove to the hospital, I ended up at the college chapel. No one was in the sanctuary, except for me. I strolled boldly to the front of the church, and I fell on my knees on the red carpeted steps. I gave my life to Jesus Christ. I immediately prayed in another language. I didn’t even know about such happenings. However at that moment, I knew what I was praying in those heavenly words. I was praying for my father to be well. It was so strong. My prayer wasn’t in my words. I was using the words of the Holy Spirit.

When I got to the hospital, my mother came running down the long white hospital corridor to meet me. We hugged each other tightly. Both of our eyes were red from tears. Then she laughed her glorious laugh, He’s going to be fine. They unhooked the life support. He will live. It’s a miracle! It’s a miracle! She was shaking me now with enthusiasm. My mother often flared in powerful drama. My brother joined us in the group hug. We had a circle of joy for my dad’s life being restored.

Softly I echoed, I know it’s a miracle…I just… By then my family was hustling off to be by the bed of my father. Being the baby of the family, my words often were overlooked. Accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior and being baptized in the Holy Spirit were not acts spoken aloud in our dignified family faith. I could only hold onto the gifts God had given to me and use them whenever possible.

Later, when my father was recuperating, we had quiet times together. I shared with him about the miracle. He loved it all. My gentle spirit comes from his gentle spirit. The Holy Spirit functions, also, as a gentle spirit. It will only come to you if you surrender and ask for that miracle power. Ask!

    1.    People meet the Holy Spirit in different ways. It can be quiet and personal like a warm gentle breeze. It can be like the rush of a mighty wind. Each experience is unique. Each experience is righteous. Share what you know about the Holy Spirit.

    2.   You may want to read scriptures on the Holy Spirit in the Bible: John 16:13, Luke 11:9-13, John 2:1-21

    3.   The Holy Spirit is everywhere. Have you accepted or been baptized in the Holy Spirit? It is a choice.
