Transitions: My Journey from Darkness to Light
()
About this ebook
Transition is a constant movement from one state or condition to another. And at times, that movement may be in a darkened state of mind unbeknownst to you because darkness (your own way) will move you from left to right and at times, paralyzing you in motion. It's not until you realize and connect with the light of God do you really begin to live and move forward into the direction of your God-ordained destiny. Our ultimate goal is to reach our destiny. Though it may seem like destiny has been denied, it is only delayed. "For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasures." Therefore, keep moving forward with The Holy Spirit!
Pastor Lyons has written a revealing, no nonsense betrayal of her life's journey. Through every challenge, she reveals how Christ, at work in her, gave her strength to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It is without question a thought provoking read, guaranteed to encourage you as you face the challenges of life. The resounding message is that of survival and encouragement that you too can be a survivor.

Transitions - Pastor Marshelle Cummings- Lyons
The Darkest Walk
I was born on November 29, 1960, to my parents, Fred Thomas Cummings and Margaret Ann Cummings. I was the third child of four, two brothers and one sister. At the age of two, my father left my mother and us. Looking back, I believe that was when the seed of abandonment was planted in me. Not having our father in the home with us and growing up without a relationship with our father messed with me and my siblings. I will not share my sibling’s hurts, pains, and destruction that resulted from us growing up and not having a relationship with our father and how that affected them. But my dark experience of not having and knowing my father will unfold in this telling. I believe that the seed of abandonment opened a door in me, which resulted in hatred toward my father. Proverbs 17:6 said, Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children
(NIV). I wanted to be my daddy’s girl but wasn’t given the chance.
I remember at the age of four, I had rheumatic fever, and I could not walk, and my body was hot as fire. My mom was calling us to come to the dinner table, and my siblings ran to the kitchen. In my mind I wanted to go, but my body would not move. So by the third time, my mother called me specifically. She came to see what I was
