About this ebook

Have you ever been so busy doing ministry that you didn't take time to seek God's guidance? We often think we know what God wants us to do, so we go ahead with our own agenda. Reading this book will help you take time to meditate and consider what God wants for your life. The devotionals, scriptures, and poetry will suggest the importance of making the choice to listen to God, even in a whisper. May you become inspired to share your own walk with the Lord, with those around you, as you listen when God whispers.

Dedicated to the memory of my husband, Tom, who went home to be with the Lord, November 4, 2016. He loved, supported, and encouraged me to always follow the direction God would lead me. Because of Tom’s loving inspiration, I continue to follow God’s leading to share what he has placed on my heart.

    Introduction

When my husband and I were called to our first full-time church, the Lord spoke to me through the business of my life. As I read the story of Mary and Martha, I felt God saying to me, Come, sit at my feet, like Mary, and learn from me. I don’t think Jesus was condemning Martha for her work, but he did point out that Mary chose the better way. It came to my mind that I was too busy, even doing ministry, and needed to be more intentional about taking time to sit at his feet and learn; we never stop learning.

On this journey of life, the Lord has placed many people on my path to help me grow. I have good memories of my pastors, Sunday school teachers, high school teachers, college professors, and a host of friends and family who, in their individual ways, have touched my life and I have grown in the Lord. From childhood until the present time, he continues to inspire me through ordinary people.

It’s my desire to share what God has placed on my heart in order to encourage people to remember their life experiences, so they can share how God has helped them grow. My hope is that these devotionals, and poetry, will touch hearts and be useful as a resource during Bible study. God bless you as you take time to sit at the feet of Jesus.

    Thanking him for his presence,

    Nancy Jo Wheeler

    God Whispers,

    Come, Sit with Me

God whispers, Come, sit with Me.

His whisper is in the breeze,

in the song of a robin,

in the rustling of the leaves.

His whisper is in the fan that cools my face,

in the ticking of a clock

in the sacredness of this place.

God whispers, Come, sit with me.

His whisper is in the scripture I read,

in the quiet moments I take,

in the faces of those in need.

His whisper is in the voice of a friend,
