About this ebook

The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God shall stand forever (Isaiah 40:8, Living Bible). In this book, Pauline Nosiri reveals how the Word of God is so powerful for everyday living. The Scripture declares that the Word of God must come to pass. The Lord said to Moses, When did I become weak? Now, you shall see whether my word comes true or not! Yes, the Bible is like poetry, but the Holy Spirit will make it known to you if you decide to read it daily.

It is hard for you to befriend someone without knowing who he is. God from the beginning wants you to come closer to Him so that you can know Him better. If you do not fall in love with God, you are not making Him number one in your life. To know Him, you have to draw near Him. You must see God through reading of His Word; see your Father through the eye of faith.

    Acknowledgments

First of all, I have to dedicate this book to my Lord Jesus Christ, who inspired me to put this book together. He gave me the wisdom, understanding, and knowledge that I need to complete this writing, which will help my brothers and sisters in the Lord. This book can also be extended to someone needing Christ.

Next, to my church, Braeswood Assembly of God, that helped me to learn how to read and study the Bible within one year. My church made it possible for me to read through the whole Bible within a year five years ago. What I thought was impossible before was made possible through the help of my church. I am very grateful that I am a member of an active church where the shepherd takes care of his sheep.

Then to Norma Sierra, the secretary and financial aid assistant at Houston Community College system and a very close friend for years. She is always ready to help whenever I knock at her door. She is a gracious woman who is very enthusiastic, well-mannered, and considerate and does her work well. She loves people and tries her best to help anyone who needs her help. Thank you, Norma, for your help and the contributions and services you have made. You really made it possible for this book to come to a completion. God bless you.

To my trustworthy, faithful, darling sister, Funke Olaleye. She not only inspired and encouraged me to get the book published, but also assisted in editing it as much as possible. May the Almighty reward you abundantly.

Finally, to Chika Idehen, my eleven-year-old niece. She is a sweet girl who loves Jesus. She is a little minister of God in her own little way. She motivated and monitored me during my difficult hours. She keeps on reminding me to finish this book. She is a good reader and enjoys reading. I believe she is waiting to read this book.

    Chapter 1

How do you define the character of God, who is your Father?

You cannot understand God without studying his Word, because you really need to anchor your life in the word of the Creator. Jesus said, My sheep know my voice, (John 10:3), so, studying the Word of God will draw us closer to him and allows us to see his character. The Bible reveals the following about God:

God is merciful, wonderful, compassionate, forgiving, graceful, kind, patient, etc. Your Father is patiently waiting for you to make a move to come to him and say, Father, I want to know you more. Open my eyes to see you through the reading of your Word. Make this confession and sincerely mean it. I did the same thing that I am telling you now. There was a time in my life when I was in great distress. I was angry with myself, and I asked God, Why did you let my mother give birth to me? (like Job asked). This situation nearly made me lose my salvation. I wanted to backslide, and I was missing the presence of God because I was not reading his Word. Even though I had planned to run away from God, he was compassionate and did not wait for me to come; instead, he drew me closer to him and helped me to start reading his Word daily. God, through his grace, helped me to spend extensive time studying his Word after I developed this attitude, and it is still my lifestyle today. Any day I do not read the Word, I feel like I am missing real food.

Scripture is a healthy, spiritual food; whenever I eat it, I sense the life of God flowing into my being as I experience fellowship with the Holy Spirit around God’s Word.

    God’s Kindness

The loving kindness of God is better than anything else in the world. Remember the persistent prayer of the righteous avails much (this principle is the key to answered prayer). Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for; keep seeking, and you will find; and keep knocking on the door, it will be opened to you. For everyone that asks, receives; everyone that seeks finds and everyone that knocks, the door is opened. (Matthew 7:7). Do you see right now that the heart of your Father is for you to come to him in any condition? In a nutshell, the hand of the graceful God is open wide to receive you and help you with your trouble. If you ask him for help when you anchor your life in the Word of God, you will learn to be like your Father. He said, You be perfect as your father is perfect.(Matthew5:8). God’s kindness covers us all the time; he cares for his people.

God’s goodness can be traced back from the time the Israelites went through the wilderness. Throughout their long journey, God was with them. God will remember you in your difficult time because of his kindness; he will meet you at the point where you are. Do not run away from your Father; you need him for the rest of your life. The Lord, your God, will carry you through regardless of your disobedience; just turn to him. God’s goodness makes it very easy for us to come to him. He will receive us back no matter what we have done to offend him. He will always forgive and forget. He is always willing to take us back as his children.

All God wants from us is to obey him; he is not asking us for too much. God is ready to forgive us if we turn to him and ask him to forgive us. Do not let any condition drag you away from receiving your Father’s forgiveness. Remember that our miraculous God has a covenant with you; therefore, he is not going to throw you out, because he is a good Father who loves his children.

About seven years ago, I began planning to write a book. However, I did not know how to start then. Whenever I had a feeling about starting the writing, I would tell myself, Wait a little; it is not time yet. The book I planned to write before was My Life Experience in America. In October of 2007, I told myself that it was time for me to start my book. When I went to sleep that night, God spoke to me very clearly and said, "Pauline, I want you to change the title of the book to Anchoring Your Life in the Word."

The following day, I thought about it, and I laughed and said, Okay, God, I will change it. Two days later, I got a phone call from a dear sister from my church (Braeswood Assembly of God) whom I respect. She said, Pauline, the church wants you to come today at 6:00 p.m. You have been selected to give a testimony about reading the Bible, and it is going to be videotaped. I accepted the short notice and told her that I would be there. Since that day, my mind had been bombarded with messages on what to write.

I really can’t explain why I wanted to write a book, because I hated writing when I was in school. In order to avoid writing in school, I went ahead and majored in accounting in both my first and master’s degrees. I reasoned that in accounting, I would be dealing with numbers instead of writing.

I would not have been able to write this book if I did not hear from God. God gave me the word to write, and the message you now hold in your hand will surely bless you. Satan has held me in bondage for many years now to hide what God planted inside of me from the beginning of my life. I believe this book will help you to find out the good thing that God planted inside of you when he took you and made you his own. I believe in the power of prayer and the Word.

When you pick up this book, pray that God will open your eyes and mind of understanding. Pray this prayer: "Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to understand the reading of your Word. I desire to know you more and to see your character through the reading of your word. Father, pour down the anointing in my life that will remove every distraction that is blocking my ears and mind to receive from you through your living Word. God, you said that I have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives in me—in my heart—so that I don’t need anyone to teach me what is right. He teaches me all things, and he is the Spirit of truth. God, I do not
