    Prophesy! - Héctor Santos

    Prophetic Art

I love prophetic art! Prophetic art is the end result when an artist hears from the Lord and draws or paints it. To put the Word of the Lord into a picture is a beautiful process. I honor artists who have taken their creative talent and have dedicated it to communicate what God is speaking to them prophetically. As you’ll learn in this book, when someone hears from God and prophesies, there is an impartation and anointing on those words over the individual receiving. The same goes with artwork. As the artist hears from God and puts it into a drawing or on a canvass, they are releasing that anointing into the artwork. Those who behold it can receive the anointing behind the artistic prophetic declaration. After all, isn’t that why people treasure art, because of how it moves or inspires them? How much more when the artist was influenced by the Holy Spirit to draw something? It carries anointing! I call prophetic art a prophetic word in a drawing or on canvas. A picture is worth a thousand words, and prophetic art allows you to see what the Lord is saying in a picture!

I jumped at the opportunity to collaborate on this book project with not just an artist, but a prophetic artist. I believe in the ministry of prophetic art! I believe that as you observe prophetic art, the anointing imparted onto it can move and inspire you to hear what God is speaking through it. Just as certain artwork in the world is created to make its observers feel angry, confused, and a mixture of other strong emotions, prophetic art puts you in touch with the heart of Father God! After all, God is the Master Creator and Artist! I have many prophetic art pieces in my home, which are great conversation pieces and allow me to elaborate on the heart of the Father to anyone who inquires. Now that’s a ministry tool!

I want you to read the artist’s journey as he was led by the Holy Spirit to capture this piece of prophetic art for this book cover. How cool that what you have in your hand is not only cover art, but prophetic art for a book cover! Let the picture prophesy to you on how the spirit man was created by God to release the prophetic anointing for creativity and victory!

    Cover Prophetic Art Explanation

Ever since I first heard about this project, I couldn’t get away from the idea of collage, meaning separate visual elements—parts and pieces—coming together to form a whole. Maybe it’s because that’s a good illustration of the prophetic. After making three or four less successful attempts at capturing Héctor’s vision for the cover, I hit on one that I thought was better, and the team’s positive response was overwhelming! So we had the main concept and the solution of how to incorporate the various elements. A colorful superhero-looking face with open mouth, speaking out symbols that capture some of the idea and power of prophecy.

As I grabbed a canvas and my paints, I was a bit unsure of my ability to preserve the freshness of the sketch while making it bigger, better, more complete, and cover-worthy. But as I painted, I felt Holy Spirit guiding not just my hand, but my creative thought processes as well. The colors were balancing, the shapes working together, and yes, some of those amazing surprises that highlight prophetic art were happening. It began to take on the look of a Greek statue or face of a classical angel, but at the same time the colors and composition brought a very modern art feel. Something old, something new. The major unplanned element that happened while I painted was the semi-hidden words in different languages: Chinese 爱 (love) on the forehead as the great command to remember; Hindi ____ (freedom), appears almost like bone jewelry near the mouth and alludes to tribes, tongues, and nations; Arabic (worship) is in the jaw where we chew our food and make confession with our tongue; and truth crowning the head. The horns on the head started to appear and I didn’t like them at first, but the Lord said they represent authority. The eye is closed because the person is seeing on a deeper level, though it may at first appear as wide open. There is also a garland of praise and light illuminating the face from many directions.

As I brought the face image (at this point, partial, just what you see on the front cover) back to the table, it not only got a yes, but Héctor wanted me to complete the back of the head so it could wrap around to the back cover! Again, the Spirit led as I worked very spontaneously and just let it develop as a continuation of what we already had. It was fun to see all the things that showed up as a result of a few months of thought and working with prophetic imagery. Can you find a waterfall, jewels, leaves, flames, a fish bone, a wing, a honeycomb, fruit, and more? Oh, and one more word, which is the Greek tetelestai (it is finished).

After this, it was on to the smaller symbols or icons that were being spoken out of the mouth. Here’s where I finally got to actually use collage. These are each made from pieces cut out of magazines. We needed them small, sharp, and darker in tone to stand out against a light, airy background. I felt this approach worked perfectly.

    Introduction

The Church is a prophetic entity. From the moment that God planned to present a bride for His Son, He planned for Jesus to have, not an ordinary bride, but a truly prophetic bride. This bride would be completely in love with Jesus and ever so sensitive to His voice. God’s plan was further put into action when the Holy Spirit was sent to the church on the day of Pentecost. It was the Holy Spirit who was going to begin to teach this new bride how to enter into a personal relationship with her Bridegroom through intimate communion.

While we are fulfilling our assignments on the earth, the Holy Spirit is our constant Teacher, reminding us of Jesus’ words and helping us remove anything from our lives that can hinder an intimate, loving relationship with Him. Through this spiritual education, the Holy Spirit is sanctifying us, teaching us the Scriptures, and continually drawing us deeper into a relationship with God Himself.

The Holy Spirit will complete the task before Him. He will not present to Jesus a bride who is incapable of intimate communication. For that reason, we are being equipped today to learn how to hear God’s voice. To be prophetic is to hear from God, and because there is no such thing as a non-prophetic Holy Spirit, every believer is prophetic!

Many believers do not understand the importance of being prophetic. Satan has fought the church in this area from the beginning of time. He knows that the more we hear from heaven, the more his kingdom will suffer defeat. His evil scheme has been to inspire doctrines and teachings in the church that would silence prophetic equipping. As a result, there is part of the bride that cannot perceive His voice.

The focus of this book is to equip believers with the revelation they need to be successfully prophetic! It doesn’t matter if you’ve been taught against the prophetic; God still wants to speak with you and use you as an anointed messenger to others. Get excited because you are learning to be what God destined you to be. You are prophetic!

    1: My Journey

For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10).

I love to prophesy! I do! I love, love, love it! It fills me with joy, excitement, anticipation, and hope. It blesses me to experience God ministering life to someone through me! It is too awesome for words. It’s the same feeling as when you lead someone to the Lord. At some point it dawns on you that God has just used you to scoop someone out of the flames of hell and usher them into a life in His prese nce. Cool!

I’ve been moving in the prophetic for many years, and I love prophesying now even more than I did when I first discovered I had the gift. I would go through seasons of prophesying over anything that would stand. In other seasons, I would try to not go overboard by being too aggressive with the gift. Through the years, God has helped me embrace the awesome opportunities that come with prophesying.

How I praise God for the many schools of the Spirit that have emerged to teach people how to move in the anointing responsibly. There were no such schools when I was developing. I am part of the alumni from The School of Hard Knocks. Praise God, though, that He will use our failures as teaching tools so that others can learn.

I want you to get excited at the fact that you were led to read this book. I don’t believe in coincidences; I believe that God wants you to learn how to release His dunamis (power) through your mouth.

    My Brush with Darkness

I grew up knowing God. My mother taught us that God wanted to have a personal relationship with us. Because of that, I was constantly having encounters with Him. Through dreams, visions, and prophetic experiences, I knew that God loved me and had a plan for my life. I was awed at an early age that God was so powerful! I read about the miracles in Scripture; I heard the stories of deliverance and healing from people at church. I knew firsthand that God was real—and I was drawn to Him.

Although I was raised in church, my relationship with God was out of a childhood curiosity. I was taught to fear the Lord, but I couldn’t say that He was the Lord of my life. Then my teen years ushered in a season of rebellion and darkness that activated hell’s plans against me. I had rebelled and just stopped going to church and had been drawn away into a lifestyle of sin. I actually didn’t really dedicate my life to Christ until I was sixteen years old.

I have had a relationship with God since I was a child, and I knew that there was a devil, but I didn’t know that he was a counterfeiter and mimicker of everything that God does. Therefore, although I was always drawn to hearing the voice of God as a child, I was dumbfounded to learn that there were other guiding voices in the world of darkness.

Looking back I realize that the enemy had a plan in motion to take advantage of my curiosity about God. The devil knew I was curious to learn about God’s voice and that I didn’t know how he, Satan, deceived people. As a result, he planned to present me a different path—a path that brought forth other voices from the spiritual world.

I was introduced to the occult through a friend who invited me to participate in playing with the Ouija board. We went over to her house and asked the board a lot of stupid questions—to which the board gave stupid answers, causing us to laugh hysterically. Nevertheless, a stirring began to grow inside of me that would continue to draw me deeper into the occult. That activity opened
