About this ebook

This is an excerpt from my book entitled This Little Pin Dot. (What I am sharing was told to me by my mother, the late Irene Collier.) Her Mom's name was Lula Combs, Smith, Pierce and her Dad's name was Sam. This is my mother's story retold by me,)

"...My Mom laughed at us, she gently stroked Daddy's hair as she turned and went back onto the kitchen to finish preparing evening meal. As Dad finished reading the story, we heard a voice outside the front door. The familiar voice sounded gruff and angry, it shouted, "Sam, come out here! Dad carefully sat my sisters and I on the floor. My sisters Charlotte, and Virginia stood up and ran to the kitchen to get our Mom. I sat on the floor and watched as my Dad opened the door. I then heard a loud 'bang' and I saw..."

This Little Pin Dot - Theodora Higgenbotham

    A Note From The Editor

I t has been a privilege to work with Mrs. Higgenbotham, or Momma Dora as she is called. Over the past several weeks she and I have discovered through this project, her and my theology do not match up one hundred percent, but there is no doubt in my mind that this is a wonderful woman of faith who has genuinely lived a life that reflects Christ’s involvement and his work that he has done in her Spirit. If you are still trying to decide whether it is worth reading, I would boldly encourage you to do so.

Many of the stories within this book may seem unusual, and there may be times where you find your faith being challenged, I encourage you to read with an open mind and heart, and pray that God inspires you with his truth while you do so. It is not essential to agree with everything in this book, but I strongly encourage you to trust that this is a woman who writes directly from her heart, and bows humbly to God’s will in everything she does. I hope you enjoy the following stories about the life of a blessed evangelist and teacher.

    My Final Thoughts

    Foreword

M omma Dora, do you have a word for the church? It was one of those moments in a Spirit-filled church service where you know the Holy Spirit wants to do more, but you aren’t quite sure what. Worship had kind of died down and it was that transition time where anything can happen. Although I had only known Theodora [we all call her Momma Dora] a few months at that time, we all fell in love after just a few minutes with her. That Sunday morning, I felt the Lord prompt me that she had something to share that was for the entire congregation.

With the worship music still playing, she took the microphone and began to sing a prophetic song. She was singing, but the Lord gave her the words that were to encourage the whole church. It was like we got plugged in to heaven’s electrical outlet. The entire atmosphere shifted and the reality of God’s Presence increased significantly. The Holy Spirit began to fall on people and we sent anyone who wanted to receive the gift of speaking in tongues to go off to the side to pray with Momma Dora. I often joke that she has led more people into the experience of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues on accident than I ever have on purpose. Many people received that gift that Sunday morning.

As her Senior Pastor for several years, I have watched Momma Dora help people encounter God’s love in many ways: healing the sick inside and outside the church, prophecy, preaching, and leading people into an encounter with the Holy Spirit. She is probably most passionate about seeing people born again. She is powerful in the Spirit and just as powerful in God’s love.

This Little Pin Dot is an important book because it shows us what is possible in one life submitted to God. We need stories like her’s to stretch our faith and testimonies that challenge us to believe God is who he says he is. We need pictures of what the supernatural looks like in our everyday life, not just at a church service.

Jesus was the most normal Christian who ever walked on planet earth. His life was supernatural from start to finish. Momma Dora is a follower of Jesus and shares his fruit. She shares stories of supernatural blessings and divine intervention that have marked her entire life. Hearing God, miracles, guidance, divine coincidences are all normal for Momma Dora. She tells you the trials and the triumphs and how God has brought her through them all.

If you are not encouraged by this book, your encourager must be broken! You will be challenged to believe God for more intimacy and power. Momma Dora is the real deal and you will be blessed by her story.

    Prologue

T he stories you will read are ones that have been in my spirit for more than forty years. They are memoirs of God’s grace and my family’s life changing encounters with the Living God.

My entire life has been one of supernatural blessings and divine interventions. At the age of eighteen I had a dream. The dream showed future events that would occur in my life. The dream revealed the following: I would go to college. I would become a teacher and an evangelist. My dream revealed my future husband’s specific name. I was told the house would be white and would be located on Liberty Street. My husband and I would have two children, a girl and a boy. I would be an ordained minister and become an author.

If you are holding this book in your hands and reading these words, then the last promise from God has been firmly established.

Forty-five years ago, I embraced God’s promises, and held onto every word, and now I am an author!

The definition of a blessing is the act of invoking divine protection or aid.

A blessing is an approval or good wishes bestowed on a person, a divine gift or favor. Finally, a blessing is a happy event or state of affairs; a blessing in disguise."

The definition for a promise is a vow made, to pledge something or to make someone expect something.

In order to receive God’s blessed promises the recipient must place him or herself in a position of expectancy, faithfully believing God’s word. Encouraging yourself to wait patiently through disappointments, heartaches, suffering, set-backs, distress and pain as well as going through happy and sad times until those promises become tangible and have been totally fulfilled.

Three keys to receiving God’s promises are in the process. The months, perhaps years, you spend waiting, hoping, looking and walking through life’s uncertainties, fighting demonic spirits, persevering while praying, and trusting God that his promises will become reality are both part of the process, and are a key to unlocking what has been promised. The second key is in having unmovable faith. You will become resilient as a tried and true vessel for God. The third, and perhaps the most important key to unlock the favor of God, is to become a sincere worshipper and lover of God’s presence.

When temptations and tests become unbearable, that is when you will have to command your spirit to sing! You will have to command your spirit to enter into God’s throne room and worship!

Upon entering in, you may have to cry or moan. Go ahead. After all, he too has been touched with our infirmities. He will understand. Let your spirit soar; begin to sing in tongues, pray in tongues and worship! You will rise strengthened in his power. God will see you through!

It is my desire that, while reading this book, you will see God’s faithfulness to my family. Despite all of our pain, sorrow, distress, and uncertainties in life, God has been there and he will continue to be our lifeline.

God is love and he enjoys loving and blessing those who love him. What he does for one, he will also do for you. God’s blessings and promises are your family’s legacy and testimony [story], which are recorded for coming generations to encourage and build their faith. Today’s actions are tomorrow’s blessings.

Finally, breathe in, and let it out slowly. He is in every breath you inhale and exhale! He is eternally with you. He is moving! God is alive, and he will keep his promises! The lyrics to an old song we used to sing are:

    It Is No Secret

    [What God Can Do]

    author:

    Stuart Hamblen

The chimes of time ring out the news another day is through—Someone slipped and fell, was that someone you? You may have longed for added strength your courage to do not be this hearten for I bring hope to you.

It is no secret what God can do what he’s done for others, he will do for you—

With arms wide open he’ll part anew it is no secret what God can do.

There is no night for end his light you’ll never walk alone

Always feel at home wherever you may roam.

There is no power can conquer you while God is on your side— lust take him at his promise don’t run away and hide.

It is no secret what God can do.

    The Voice From Within

    AUTHOR:

    Theodora Higgenbotham

T hey said, I couldn’t make it, but he said I could. They said, I would lose, but he said, I won!

I heard loud and clear those voices that cried, You cannot win.

You’re too dumb and you can’t fit in.

I heard the voice of one that I loved pierce my heart when she said; You put your faith in others and not in God.

I heard the voices cry out, You are too old to try that road; no one else has been there. Please don’t go!

I turned and listened to those voices and I saw each mouth shouting at me saying,

You are a fool, no one will listen, no one will take you seriously, you will fail and I will have to come and pick up the pieces.

Yet deep in my spirit I heard another voice that was faint at first and then grew louder.

I heard that voice and I understood what I must do.

I can’t listen to those voices and give up on my dreams.

I have to walk with my own mistakes and if I fail, he will tenderly pick me up and lead me to my destiny.

I stopped fearing, and I leaned in to listen. Then I heard that loving, unyielding silent voice whispering into my ears, penetrating into my spirit saying "You are the head and not the tail, you are above and not beneath,

I will be with you all the way. I will strengthen you when you become weak,

I will wipe away your stinging tears that you will shed secretly in the night.

I will be your joy. I will be your peace. I will be all that you will ever need.

I will pick you up and carry you into another day."

That’s when I realized what I had living inside of me.

With his strength and with his love I will continue with my dreams.

No turning back, No more doubts. I will become stronger. I will become what he had created for me when I was in my mother’s womb.

I will not continue to strive.

I can now say goodbye to those voices that shouted so loudly, placing doubt and fear in my heart telling me I would fail.
