Yogi Bhajan was declared a Master of Kundalini Yoga at the age of 16. He came to the United States in 1969 and openly taught this transformative technology for the next 35 years, until his last breath in Aug 2004. GETTING IN TOUCH WITH YOUR INNER SELF

JUNE 25, 1984

This summer, I intend to be with you. But I do not know what my international responsibilities will demand of me. First of all, tonight I would like to go to sleep early and try to sleep for some time. It’s amazing what has kept us going. It’s fantastic. We have achieved a lot. I’m very grateful to all of you for one reason. You all did put in a lot. We have hosted an international conference where I expected that they were going to say, Declare the war! You know, that kind of thing? Instead it turned around to be: Let us have unity and bring strength of peace and moral endurance, and achieve something for all of us forever.

You must understand: the greatest man, including woman, is one who can come out with his excellence against every odd. That requires a great inner commitment, great flexibility and great intelligence.

The topic which I am going to teach this summer is highly technical. But, if you just understand one-third of it, I’m not saying the whole of it, just one-third of it, it will not only change your life for the better or for the best, it will make you feel good. The subject will be openly discussed and at certain times it may look very juicy and sexy, but that does not mean that you should start dreaming wrong. That only means that you should be within your control to understand that it is a part of life, too. What I am going to achieve with you this summer, is to let your waistline shrink. You will be reduced to be the human I think you used to be. I don’t guarantee that everybody will lose their tons of fat, but I think when we will go from here to all our homes and travels and start our lives again, we’ll be in a position to be as good in health and shape as we could be.

It is so amazing just to be a woman. You are excellently beautiful. God created woman that beautiful so that if he ever thought of coming to be as a being he could choose her as a vehicle. I’m just giving you a thought, just look at it from God’s point of view. In the life of a man, woman is nothing but that comfortable moment which he seeks again and again, in spite of many things.

You have to understand the depth and the strength of the woman in general. Woman is a qualifying manifestation of light. It is not true that woman is just a doormat and everybody walks over her and all that. What has happened is very simple. Woman is so beautiful and so much wanted, and man wanted to have her so fast that he reproduced the environment like a psyche and tried to dull her. There’s no more appropriate word than the word dull.

It happened at a time of tribal wars, when tribes fought with each other, not to have territory, but to capture the women and children of one tribe to utilize their strength. Not that they wanted to enslave a woman; that you have to understand. That was different. They didn’t want to go ahead and enslave and capture a woman to get her for themselves. No, they wanted her for her strength. Therefore, at that time, a woman was only one thing, and not anything else. In her own slavery to the other tribe, she was also the source of strength. Whether a woman is free, or a slave, she is in both ways a source of strength.

The nucleus of strength in the entire creativity of the universe is woman. That is why God is called Purkha and woman is called Prakirtee. She is the center of the creativity of every thing. Now what are we doing here in this camp? We have asked you to come. We are going to be with you. We are going to teach you a most beautiful subject, you must not forget it. Your excellence as a woman is in the joyful projection of your inner self. So what we are going to do is bring you in touch with your inner self. If you can be brought to touch your inner self and you can understand your projection, then you can also feel and experience your joyfulness. Then there is nothing that you will know but your own excellence.

My personal feeling and I don’t mind if you don’t share it with me is, that if woman by herself, as she is, is not considered by any approaching male in the light of being Her Excellency, then she’s not herself in one way or another. Your very statutory existence as a woman, as a psyche, as a nucleus, as a person, as a creature of God, should bring your excellence around you. If this story is true it will let you understand what I am saying.

Once a woman was walking fast, trying to reach her home. On the way she was going through a wooded area. A man happened to be there. His first ambition was, Oh, my God. I have never seen a woman. She is right here. I can overcome her, enjoy her, rape her, and do whatever I want to do. His desire to possess and conquer her sensually and sexually was so powerful that he became mad with it. So he ran to catch up with her, to grab her, to get her. Her sensitivity felt, Somebody’s coming behind me. When he was almost at a hand’s length, she turned around and looked and looked and looked. That passionate man froze; he was absolutely frozen into a motionless statue.

Then sweetly she said, Why have you been running after me? Will you please let me know?

He said, I would like to have permission to travel with you because I am very lonely in these woods. He walked behind her, he carried her bag, and when they reached her home, he wished her good night. She walked into her house with an absolute smile and felt the warmth of the companionship in an utmost graceful manner.

What I am trying to let you know is that, if your look cannot create a miracle, then I do not know what you are looking for. Develop yourself so that when you look at somebody, it should not only be effective but it should be effective to enhance your excellence. The greatest thing which I want to share with you is that because of circumstances, because of the past, because of the present, because of anything you want to say, you have not understood or endorsed your own excellence.

That’s why I thought, if I have to have this situation, why not get these young seven-year-old ladies to be with me so that they can at least sit around and feel one thing. They may not hear anything, they may start their own games, its all right. They may just feel one thing: here are some women trying to get trained to be women. So that it may become a part of our lives that we need ourselves to train ourselves. I have said something which you have not understood: we need ourselves to train ourselves.

What is happening now is that woman has been taught and told for all this time that she doesn’t need herself. If you don’t need yourself, may I ask you, who will need you? What is your power? Your power is to create a need. You might be able to understand what this world is about, but I’m asking you a simple thing. What is this world about without you? What is this world without a woman? I agree that you think you are very rotten, you are very damned, that life is no good, blah, blah, blah, the whole thing. And, in America there is no place for a woman. She is taught to be a chick. I agree with all that. What I am asking you is: with all that list of negativity which you can paint on the wall, what is this world without you? Think about it.

If every woman decided today that she would not bear a baby, even if we decided to create test tube babies, in spite of all that, in seventy-five years there would be no human race. You are always the creative end of every bargain, purposeful or purposeless. Don’t overvalue yourself by creating that charm, that temporary sensuality, which you do, like those creatures in the water, who create color to protect themselves. Don’t create color to protect yourself, you are colorful to begin with! Try to understand. As a woman, your faculty is your own protection. Be so. The greatest mistake you do is that you project out for safety. No. You must be so!

Stand before the mirror and tell yourself, I am one beautiful statue created by God. It may be possible that you are out of shape by overeating, by messing yourself up and doing certain things, but that’s what you did. Go back and find your picture as a child. See how pretty you were? Ask your mom, when you were born, how pretty you were. She will tell you. She’ll say, Darling, you were the best thing in my life. However rude and drunk your father may be, ask him how innocent you were when you were born. Just watch him turn upside down.

What has happened? The life has become so crude, so gross. Exactly for that the third Nanak has given us a lesson:

Anand bhe-aa meree maa-ee satguroo mai paa-i-aa.

"Oh mother, I am in bliss.

I have found out from the true Guru."

"Satigur taa paa-i-aa sahej setee man vajee-aa vaadhaa-i-aa.

Raag ratan parvaar paree-aa shabad gaavan aa-ee-aa."

(In a flash I found my Lord and my mind is filled with the song of bliss.

Like every jeweled angel and the fairies of every region,

all joined in chorus to sing the song of the Word.)

This musical ecstasy in which the third Nanak talks in the language of a woman, like a mother and a daughter, also relates to a very simple thing, which is very crucial.

"E man meriaa too(n) sadaa raho har naale.

Oh my mind, be with the God all the time.

This is the normal translation you have, right? But look at what it says.

"E man meriaa too(n) sadaa raho har naale.

Har naal raho too(n) man mere dookh sabh visaarnaa."

What do you have to be with God about? God is everything. What is your God? Your excellence. Your God is your excellence, your inner being, your soul, your spirit, your self. If you ever in any religion have been told, God is there, go and find it, please go and find it. God is nowhere to find. You are God. God couldn’t create anything better than you. If you can find yourself, you have found God right there and then, and I tell you very honestly, there is no God anywhere else. There is nothing God can do better than to create you as you. And, there’s nothing you can do better than to find you as you.

You have found out what makeup can do for you, what health clubs can do for you, what good restaurants can do for you. I can understand. But I am asking you, have you ever initiated a strength and point of view of what you within you can do for you?

Some people believe in the school of thought that wealth can bring woman happiness. Then the question arises: How to be rich? Right? Now, this is a trap. This is what makes a woman a prostitute. I want to explain that trap which has been laid for centuries to make you miserable. The trap is, if woman is made secure with money, she’ll be happy. Woman has to be happy, therefore woman has to have money. Do you understand that? Therefore woman should come out to get the money. Now this is common trap. It is just like a crab trap. I saw that whole thing, with a string down there in a cage. They put some kind of meat in it and they let the crab come in and get it. The moment the crab goes and gets into the cage, they pull the string, the cage closes, and they pull all those crabs out. What do they do with those crabs? They keep them alive and when a customer comes and selects one, they pull it out and put that crab in hot water and boil it. This is exactly what happens to you. Nothing more and nothing less. Therefore, the philosophy is, come out and get the meat, the money.

You say, What is the alternative? I’ll give you the alternative. You don’t have to get the money. Money will come to you. Just go inside and become noble. A noble woman rules the universe, including the Creator of it, the God. Oh woman, if you try to find God, you are wasting your time. You be a woman and God has no alternative but to find you. Don’t come out and become a victim. Go inside and become a master. That is the faculty of a woman born to wretched living and death.

You can ask me how my mother is. Don’t ask me how my mother was; she is. She’s alive and well. She’s so alive and well, she’s in each fiber of mine. You can ask me how my grandmother is. I’ll tell you. She’s so alive, so vibrant and so excellent. You see my calm temperament? She was so calm in her temperament that she ruled that land without uttering a word. She used to just look at people and that was it. She was the most slim, beautiful, soft-spoken woman I have ever seen in my life. When something very hot and bad would ensue, people would come and dispute and you could hear them from the inner-court door coming and jamming and yelling and screaming at each other.

Let me take you and produce you before her, and I’ll see, you’ll be disbanded of everything, thrown out of this whole village and land. You have done this, blah, blah, blah. You could hear them discussing, both parties. They would come and sit on opposite sides in rage. And when this great lady would walk in, look this way once, and that way at once, they’d become two ice creams, one vanilla and one other flavor. She would say, My God, what brought you all here?

They would say, We have come to have audience with you.

And she would just look down and say, It seems there is some quarrel between you two guys?

They would say, No, no, no. We are satisfied. We’ll settle it ourselves. There’s nothing, nothing. We just wanted to come and see you. And seeking her permission and blessing, they would go out and they would say, Well, let it settle itself. The group would leave this way, and we would say, My God, we saw them coming in yelling and screaming. Now we see them going meek, humble and smiling. Grandma, what you have done?

What have I done? Didn’t you see? They came to see me.

One day I remember I was very rude with her. I said, Why does everybody come and see you? What for? You don’t tell us what goes on. Something happens! I want to know! I’ve always seen people yelling and screaming at a distance. Then they come, they sit down. When you come out, What do you DO? Tell us.

She looked at me, and she said, I do nothing. What’s going on?

And I caught myself saying, No, no, everything is all right. Then I just said, My God, that’s not true. Grandma, don’t look at me. Look the other way, and then let me tell you what is going on. If you look at me, I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you. There is something you do just by your look. Now I understand. And that is true. I have never seen one big huge male that didn’t melt down if this frail lady would look at him, and become a totally reverent man with just a look.

I remember once a man came. He was extremely disturbed and he pushed the servant of the house saying, I’ve got to see her, I’ve got to meet her, I’ve got to, I’ve got to tell her something. I saw it myself. I was leaping over things to see what would happen downstairs. Now let us see what Grandma pulls, what she is going to do. The guy was just jumping like a big male monster. And I wanted to know. She came out with a full, decorated plate of food and she looked at him.

She said, I knew you would come very hungry. She laid the food before him and said, Sit down and eat. You have not eaten since yesterday. I don’t know how she knew that. But, the fact is, it was true.

He said, Yes.

She said, Sit down and eat peacefully. And then she went away. He ate the whole thing and she came back herself. When the servant went in to take the plate, she said, No, no, no. I’ll do it myself.

She removed the dishes, went away and then she came back again and said, Your anger is gone?

He said, Yes.

Your disturbance is gone?

He said, Yes.

Now, you understand what to do?

He said, Yes, thank you. And he left. That was the whole communication. Now you know a meal can’t do that and I know a meal can’t do that, but I can guess now that she used that time to change his entire psyche, because every man is born intelligent. Sat naam. The very seed has all the knowledge of God within itself. When a graceful woman comes and glances at you, your psyche changes to become the universe within itself, and all knowledge which you seek or want to know comes within you. One glance of a graceful woman can turn the destiny into a blessing of God.

I hope this is a good introduction. That is what we are going to talk about: the excellence of the highest creature of God, called woman. May I request you to start the day singing the praise and song of a noble woman please?

(Audience sings Nobility.)

The last line of this song said, Living your truth is happiness. It didn’t say, Living the truth of God is hppiness. It didn’t say, Living the truth of your religion is happiness. It didn’t say anything other than your own truth. And one line more was very important: Nobility is manufactured inside.

I would like to give you homework; that this song of a noble woman may be remembered tonight. And I would like to ask you to sing it tomorrow, and I would like you all to participate.

I’m going to teach in this course a very special course of effective communication as a woman. I am going to teach you in this course the effectiveness of projecting your own psyche and extending your aura as a woman and a lot of those mystic kinds of things I have wanted to teach for a long time, but had to wait until 1984. My idea is to start with you on a certain line of action because you must understand, I am living on an extension of life. I do not know how many more years I’ve been granted, but I just go year to year. If I have to continue, then I will continue. But I’ll share all this with you this summer. And I hope your prayers will keep me going for these six weeks. We’ll have a very good course. I want you to look smart. I want you to come to class earlier than you should. I don’t want to see you running from behind these tents; that’s not very noble. I want you to look very, very excellent and well dressed. I want you to press your clothes in these environments which seem to be impossible. There will be a lot of rain. Yesterday our tent got tested right away. I want you to understand, any minute of your life is a most precious minute for you. Let us make the best of every minute of our life here, so we can add many best minutes of our life. When you go back to your home, you may go back stronger, very brilliant, very excellent and fulfilled. Thank you.

THE CREATIVE SENSITIVITY OF WOMAN

The creative sensitivity which God put in the very fiber of a woman, is so unique it doesn’t exist in any other creature in the world. But unfortunately woman does not take the sensitivity and process it. Having sensitivity is a very virtuous thing, you have to understand. I am feeling sensitive to what is happening tomorrow and the day after and the day after that. I may like to process it; I may not like to process it. But without processing it you walk into it, and you don’t know what you are walking into. It can be a tragedy. Every woman who has been blessed with sensitivity should understand that that sensitivity which is coming from outside is both good and bad. Sometimes you can take good things and not bad things.

When somebody criticizes me, I process it in two ways. What wrong is this person seeing in me and what is the base of it? And, what is wrong in that person that he can see that wrong and what is the base of it? Do you understand it? You have to look into it. What is the wrong in the person himself that he is seeing something wrong, and what is wrong in me that I am showing something wrong and what actually is it? What is right and what is wrong? It is called processing.

God gave you this sensitivity not because you are a woman. You should realize that. You think that you are special and men are not. Men are not dummies either. But this sensitivity is given to you because you are a process mother. And if that extra sensitivity were not given to you, I think fifty to sixty percent of children would never see the third year of life. The mother’s psyche is so powerful under the sensitive system of its own being, that she automatically acts to protect the child whether she likes it or she doesn’t like it. Believe it or not.

Now this sensitivity which is used for the child does not go away, even when you don’t have a child. This sensitivity is so powerful that even before the child is born, it changes your blood process and turns your blood into milk. It is the same process for anything which is coming to a woman in the process of creativity, which she is going to handle herself. The sensitivity characteristic in her fiber, in her being and in her mental being, through the pressure system of her sensitivity, makes the body creatively ready for it.

Now where is the idea of you getting insulted, getting beaten up, prostituting yourself, selling yourself, lowering yourself? Why? Because you are not dependent on your sensitivity, and you are not processing it. You are just emotionally looking into the benefit, to the gain or loss of it. That’s all it is. The imperial majesty of a woman is so great in the sense of creativity. What are we waiting for? Till we have a Khalsa army? Till we conquer the whole world? Not at all. Till we create nine million Khalsa. Who is going to do it?

All we need is one woman, one womb. It doesn’t matter from where we get the spermatozoa. It doesn’t mean a thing. And her egg doesn’t mean a thing. Her womb doesn’t mean a thing. But her mind, we need her mind to project the sensitivity into the very nucleus of the psyche to turn that egg into a human being which can create the vibration of the universal magnetic force to receive it. It is called the call of the silence. If you can give one child who can give the call of the silence there is no other need. This world shall bow to that child. The riches, the people, the angels, the divine, and the past history will bow to that one child. What are you all waiting for? All it takes is that one purity of extreme selfishness. I don’t ask you to become saints. I’m asking if you are selfish to become extremely selfish. So selfish that you can concentrate your mind on that one thing just for nine months and six, seven, eight, ten days. Can you not do that in life? No big deal. You shall be exalted in this world and the world after. It is not by just bearing a child or projecting a child you can do it. Just touch a child, be around a child. And, who’s the biggest child around you? Husband. The biggest spoiled children ever created by God are these husbands. If there is a little lady, there is a little scent, you may not even like to spit at her, but if she’s available, look at your husbands going through twisting around and saying, I think I have seen you somewhere, just to talk to her. And then they come out with, Hey, breakfast is ready? What the h— is going on? Why don’t you take care of this mail? What’s going on, huh? The house doesn’t smell good. You know what I mean? Now, what do you think it is when they yell and scream and walk in like a mad dog? What is it? What do they want?

STUDENTS: Attention.

YOGI BHAJAN: No. They want your sensitivity. They don’t want attention. They can buy attention in a massage parlor for thirty-five bucks. Five dollar tip, thirty dollar payment. I don’t mean the genuine massage. You know what I mean? No, no, no. Man by nature, by instinct, by creativity, and by productivity does not want anything except to be accepted sensibly in the sensitivity.

Now, I’ll tell you something. There was a fanatic Virgo to whom cleanliness was just as good a virtue as you can believe. And if there was not cleanliness the guy went upside down. His wife knew about it. One day, as luck would have it, the maid didn’t show up, the servants were not there and she couldn’t do anything. The children came home earlier because of some reason and they created the whole house into a big mess. The situation was unique. It had never happened before. And they well understood and she well understood, that in a couple of minutes the car was going to pull in and after that there was going to be firing that nobody could stand.

So she went right out when he parked the car, and said, Oh my God, you don’t feel good at all.

He said, I’m extremely happy to be home. What do you mean ‘I’m not good at all’?

She said, I know, I don’t feel good at all, you don’t feel good at all. I fully understand. Can I sit in the car with you?

So, she jumped in and said, Please drive.

He said, Where?

She said, I need immediate medicine, let us go. Kids are home, the whole thing is a mess. So she went and bought aspirin and told him about the mess. Mess.

He said, Let’s go home, let us take care of the mess. You won’t believe it. When he walked in he saw all that mess and he said, No, no, no. You go into the bedroom. You go to sleep. Let me give you an aspirin. He gave her the aspirin, brought the water, took her shoes off and put her under the blanket. He took the children and told them, Just be restful. He cleaned the whole house, cooked dinner, washed plates, gave her a foot massage, put her to bed and slept in her room on a chair. She took those two tablets, she was gone. In the morning she was shocked to see him snoring on the chair. She couldn’t believe it. She thought that after entering the living room he was going to go into the bedroom, take the revolver and shoot everybody.

Mother, children, home, wife, being, self, sensitivity. If you know as a woman how to process it, there’s nothing in the hands of God you cannot turn around. Your fear is unnatural. And your fear does nothing but stop your sensitivity and therefore, your creativity.

There’s a very popular saying which I’d like to share with you; quote unquote, Woman handles everything with heart, and looks at everything with head. If you do that you’ll be graceful, you will be noble and you will be virtuous.

The second part of you is that you want to show your fullness. This is the looniness–you are governed by moon, I’m not going to make you to be governed by sun, and I do not know why He decided that way; it is His problem. I’m just trying to explain to you the faculty of the psyche of the sensitivity of the female which is that she wants to go from darkness to full moon and from full mooon to darkness. It is her cycle, it is her desire. Nothing can change it. She wants it that way. You understand that? No? Good. But it is a fact. Don’t you see one day you want to deal in full blossom and full bloom and in fullness? And if all the circumstances and environments are rebuilt the same, on another day you may totally not even relate to it. This is only your capacity. No other creature in the world can do it. You understand that? Some days do you want to look very attractive? Is that true? And some other days you don’t even want to come out of the closet? Is that true? So I know you well. That’s all I’m saying. I was saying it in a scentific, very sophisticated manner. But at the grassroots, some days you are a bit of a…I’m not going to say that word because I’m not allowed to. I am a holy man. Some days you are a bit of a…and some days you are full of…and some days you are most bright and some days you are bright and absolutely right.

But the basic fact is that all the days, you are bright and beautiful. It is the orbit of the psyche which makes the moon disappear and come as full. It is not the property of the moon itself. The moon doesn’t go away and it doesn’t come out. It is the orbit of the earth, the environments. What is the environment of the moon? Earth. What is the landscape of the moon? Earth. What is the landscape of the earth? Moon.

In your looniness, you want to show what doesn’t show you. When you want to show you, you are also not in your spirit to show you and protect anything about you. You understand? Just show your noble part. Can you do it? No you can’t. I know it.

If you just show your noble part, how easy it is. Should I tell you? Pay one dollar each. Will that do? No, it is free. As long as you are ready to value it, it is okay. One dollar is enough, but don’t bother. Listen to this. If you can show your nobleness and you want to show your nobleness, just put a thought in yourself, I am going to meet so and so and I’m going to be nothing but noble. Your psyche will pick it up and act automatically. Before shaking hands with anybody, or coming and talking with anybody, all you require is that when you are nine feet away from that person, and your aura has not yet touched their aura, just insert a psychic thought, I am going to be very, very noble with this being. It has to be done before the radiant body touches the other radiant body, and if somebody has a full aura, this distance is nine feet. If you put in the thought, I am going to come out to be very noble, you’ll be shocked. Tape record yourself. Your language will change, your manner will change, your entire acting process will change. In any situation within the nine foot distance of the situation itself, you and you alone have the power. If you can project that you want to be successful you shall be. There’s no defense against it. The only defense against it is that you may be dumb and not do it. That’s the only defense.

We got a fortune cookie today and it said, Those who walk in hurry cannot walk in grace. I’ll say, Those who walk out of step cannot be walking nobly. There’s a way to walk imperially. There’s a way to talk as an imperial self. There’s a way to live as an imperial self.

You cannot be subjected and subdued if you don’t agree to be. There has to be an agreement between you and your nucleus projective psyche in the instance of the magnetic field. It has to concentrate to bring both polarities to the same frequency to create an orbit of creativity in which your mind, soul and self agree at the same frequency to subject your projective and your elementary power to agree that you are subjected. It is a law of projectivity, and it is God’s science. It is true no matter what the time and space is. Without your own consent of defeat, there is nothing which can defeat you. That is the first creative law of woman as a being, and that is allotted to your sex. I do not know what goes wrong and where.

I’ll give you an example of an American girl. Her husband was driving the car. She saw that a car was coming straight at them. They were going seventy kilometers per hour and I think the other car must have been driven by some drunk driver. It was coming at a speed which was unbearable and was coming on the wrong side in their lane. She totally closed her eyes, called upon Guru Ram Das and said, We shall all be safe by Thy grace. It was a head-on collision. Their car turned over three times and fell in a kind of ditch and rested. Rescuers came and cut them out. They were all safe and well. There was no possibility to live through it, but her projective psyche of elementary mental projection created a magnetic field, and life could not be taken away though it was desired to be so.

You want to know a living example? One day we were to go to Hakimpur. The entire American group was ready out at Nanak Nivas. They were all waiting for me to come. I delayed myself unnecessarily. Inside the room I made a very long prayer. I came out and I was satisfied. It is a very hard day on us. Perhaps all of us will die and none will come out alive. Or perhaps all will come out or some won’t come. That is the day. But still, let us call upon Guru Ram Das and let us do a prayer. We all stood up very sincerely and very shaken. We went. We were there in Hakimpur. We came back. Everything went all right. A couple of miles from Amritsar an accident took place. Now looking at the details of the accident, I can assure you none of us in the whole bus should have come back. What did we get out of that accident? Sat Kirpal Kaur with a few broken ribs and kind of shattered and in utmost pain. Well anyway, next day I met her and she smiled at me. She tried to smile though she was in terrible pain. She said to me, I’m all right. I said, Don’t worry.

In my heart I said, though I didn’t tell her at that time, You would have been dead yesterday evening and there was not an extension for a minute more. But the One who has kept you alive is going to remanufacture you and God being alive, the working of Guru Ram Das on every tissue of you shall be a miracle. You feel her now, she is in much better shape. Very well overhauled. Now she is trying to be very religious also.

Sometimes you know the truth. That’s not enough if you do not pray with the power of a projectile. You may have a gun. You may not shoot. Anything can attack you. And if you have a gun and there you shoot nothing, nothing will happen except there will be a huge noise.

Projectivity is the process of your right brain hemisphere. Elementary basic strength comes from your left brain hemisphere. They both act projectively in absolute coherence, in absolute friendship. The difference is that there is no nervous system in the brain to carry the message. They are carried by the neurons. It is a chemical process which changes itself to carry the strength of the message faster than anything we can record or imagine or know.

Therefore, please understand your strength and your basis of strength. A woman in question has nothing to learn. All she has to do is project to be a victor in a situation which she is encountering. Your power in victory is your power of the psyche, the power of your projection. And that is your gift from day one to the last day. If you want to be the victor, you have to be noble. If you are noble, you should be the victor.

Process these two thoughts today. Think about it, and then apply them tomorrow and see how good you feel about it. Just remember, you have earned this life through your deeds. You have earned this body through your deeds. And you have earned your living breath of life through your deeds. You have already paid for it.

"Gur sevaa te bhagt kamaa-ee.

Tab eh maanas dehee paa-ee.

Is dehee ko mimareh dev."

"With the Guru’s grace you did a hard labor to earn this body.

Through the blessing of the Guru, you did devotional deeds.

Out of that you got this human body.

This body is worshipped by the angels."

Because this is the instrument of a magnetic psyche in creative consciousness, it can redeem you to the extent that you can become God within this body and merge in God consciousness forever. And it is the path in which there is nothing but that ecstasy and bliss combined in the powerful realms of that human being which is called the life of an angel or a saint in the human. And the glory of that living is that the person is a giver and he gives and gives and gives. But in that giving there is no pain because there is no vacuum. It is called in simple English: ful-fill-ment. We’ll talk about it tomorrow as we go further.

STUDENT: Sir, what is it that gives a woman her self-destruct mechanism?

YOGI BHAJAN: I am going to discuss the self-destructive mechanism in a very bifurcated form and I think at that time it will be fine if you ask questions. But what makes a woman to be self-destructive? Self-destruction is not a question of being self-destructive. Self-destruction is not a question of bringing yourself into pain. Self-destruction is not a question of bringing yourself unhappiness. Unfortunately, when you try to act in the psyche of self-destruction, you do it for attention. It’s a negative attention, that’s all. And those who cannot seek positive attention do all this. These traumas, this nonsense, being unnoble, being angry.

One girl was telling me, I am really very angry.

I said, Why don’t you lie down on the floor? She lay on the floor. I said, Open your mouth. She opened her mouth and I went in and brought a cup of water and put it on her mouth.

She said, What are you doing?

I said, I am making tea. You are angry and you are hot. I’d like to boil the water with the heat.

She said, It won’t boil.

I said, D—it, then you are not angry. What are you angry for?

All this nonsense. It’s total nonsense, it’s totally inhuman, it’s a total lie. I am angry, I am afraid, I am this, I am that. You do all this just to draw attention and be irresponsible. That’s all. It is absolutely incorrect behavior. It is just to do a wrong and get away with it. And it is a woman’s way. I get very mad. If I am an honest man I must say, I am mad and this is wrong. That is honesty. Or if I want to show a person how mad I am, I can just yell and scream or raise my voice, and then tell him, I don’t feel good about it. This is how I feel.

Projectivity can be dramatized or it can be expressed through words. That doesn’t mean that you have to mess up the whole thing. If you are hungry, you can beat your belly and tell somebody, I’m hungry, or you can say, I’m starving, which is normally what you say. I’m starving! God! When you people say, I’m starving, I look to the skies. If starving can create these fat women with thirty pounds in the center area, which I don’t want to mention, then God must have mercy on those who are really starving.

STUDENT: What type of selfishness should we have when we are pregnant?

Ego is the worst of all, but ego is the solution to everything.

If you can make your ego positive, there’s nothing like it. It was only my ego when I was challenged and told that I am not Siri Singh Sahib by these fanatic idiots. I said, No, I am Siri Singh Sahib. I was told I am Siri Singh Sahib at the Akal Takhat and all these children of mine know I am Siri Singh Sahib. I am not going to give it up under any political pressure. They want to destroy the future of the Khalsa. But in the normal realm of consciousness I say, What the h—– do I care if I’m Siri Singh Sahib or not? Okay, I’m not. It would not have bothered me. But all these little ones know. I was reading that kind of negative material which those people were projecting in those days, and one little girl came in: Siri Singh Sahib, can I sit in your lap? That sealed it. I said to myself, Well, whether I am Siri Singh Sahib or not, now I am. And for her sake I shall be. The projective psyche of my time and space in my projectivity into the entire time and space became so closed that it grabbed me by itself. And I asked myself, What do I care who I am? But I do care. And if for these innocents who care, I cannot live to it, then there is something wrong with me, too.

It is really very selfish to be Siri Singh Sahib, because it is an acting reminder of every inch of life. It’s very serious. Don’t take it lightly. Once you say you are Siri Singh Sahib, you are judged for everything on a scale of balance, Siri Singh Sahib said. The poor man may not say one wrong thing just as a joke. Do you understand the confinement? Whatever I say must come true. Otherwise they say, Siri Singh Sahib said this. Oh my God, do you understand the responsibility? And do you know how much conscious sensitivity is used on it?

One day I was sitting and I was exercising, and some appointment came and there was a little girl with her. I immediately ran for my shawl and wrapped up. While wrapping the shawl I hid myself. I didn’t care; I was exercising, I was relaxed. But I did care when I saw a little angel walking in. For her I was nothing but Siri Singh Sahib and she wanted to see me in my own majesty of Siri Singh Sahib. For her to look at anything other than that would have been a great hurt which I could not have redeemed. She brought a little flower.

Siri Singh Sahib could you please accept this? I accepted it and I looked around myself because I saw that I had wrapped my shawl in a way that if I got up, the shawl would get torn and if I rolled around I would look bad, so what should I do? I was cornered in a very bad situation. So I slowly slipped myself into a posture so I could just squeeze myself enough to get released from the shawl under me. And then I looked good and I meditated as I blessed the flower. I had to compute that very fast. There was no other way, you understand. Then I picked up that flower and there was a little flower vase on my table. I put it in. I was afraid that I was going to spill the water because I did not have the stretch because one part of the shawl was trapped in the chair on the side. And I sensitively remember with what manipulative power I could just act and slip myself back into the chair. I said, Bless you, please sit down. And it was as if I had been released from a great cell. True!

Sometime, I think, time will ask you to act like that too. Act as it is demanded of you. Not as you want it. There’s no such thing as what you want! There’s only one thing: as it is expected of you.

You know why I called this meeting? The Akal Takhat has been attacked. I have been telling you since 1972 that the years of 1984 to 1988 are a test. Didn’t I say that? You remember it? And didn’t I tell you, Let us go and see the Golden Temple. Perhaps after 1984 we will never be allowed to go. The time has come to test our steel and to add a few pages to the history of the Sikhs. And you are that time.

You have not come here to study Kundalini Yoga with me. Not at all. It is so destined in the heavens and it shall be so done on earth. The page of history you will write, the whole world will be proud of. And you shall do that as Khalsa. You have not put a turban on just because you wanted to use a few yards of cloth. That’s not true. Whatever you are, you have taken the crown of the spirit of Guru Gobind Singh as a Khalsa. In spite of whatever you feel, time shall record you. It is all prewritten and predestined. There’s nothing to be changed about it.

Do you think I got a telephone call from the heavens saying 1984–1988 is going to be a rough time? No, that is the sensitivity. My psyche and my sensitivity tells me, while you all were thinking, God, what is going to happen here? You were all preparing here. Look, the tragedy is twelve thousand miles away. Whatever, the question is, why did it happen? In The Man Called Siri Singh Sahib there’s one little paragraph, Take Hold of your Golden Temple.[1] Would you please read it just to remind yourselves?

It is my feeling that all things come from God and all things go to God. It is my intuitive feeling the Akal Takhat gave itself to rebuild itself and be the takhat of those who shall have the power to keep it the Akal Takhat, immortal throne forever. The Akal Takhat shall now belong to those who will know to die in nobility and grace, and shall maintain Akal Takhat forever to be Akal Takhat. I’m convinced. There’s nothing anybody can tell me about it.

And I tell you today, I may not live to see that day, but the light of the Akal Takhat and the Akhand Joti of Harimandir shall again always be in a very wonderful grace, and the entire humanity will look at it and appreciate itself.

Though in number you may be very small now, this responsibility has totally fallen on your shoulders. Make a promise that with your psyche you will turn one human being into that projection, that when we will have Akal Takhat we’ll never let it be destroyed again. It doesn’t matter how much time, how much space and how many generations we have to take. This is your power. And it is always with you.

Forget about those who brought this destruction. Don’t bother with their corruption and with their shallowness. If you are a singer, make songs. If you can sing, sing the glory of Akal Takhat. Let every heart in the Western Hemisphere know what the world has lost. You think you don’t have the power? You have it. Project it out.

I am very grateful for all the work people have done and all the donations they have given. And I am very grateful to all the media. We, as sons and daughters of Guru Gobind Singh who call ourselves Khalsa, have to tell the whole world how we feel about it. And with God’s grace we have.

Just remember the sentence which I am going to repeat to you. I am going to translate it also.

"Jin kaa naa(n) khudaa nahee hotaa,

On kaa khudaa hota hai,

Kishtee-aa(n) khud bakhud kinaare pe chalee jaate hai(n)."[2]

"Those boats which do not have a rudder or a captain to bring them to the shore,

Their God becomes their captain.

Boats, by themselves come to the shore."

If today some powerful power in its political and constitutional right has made a decision that it is the virtuous time to attack the Akal Takhat, the power of the Akal Takhat itself will excel and resurrect itself with such a magnitude that the world will see it and wonder.

Please remember that you as a woman have the power to do so. Because the power of nobility and the power to project become the power of God. God couldn’t make anything better than a woman because God couldn’t take rebirth or reincarnation other than by using woman as a medium, using her as a mother and using her as the guardian. God has subjected Itself many times in the form of a child before its own mother, called woman, to be nursed, to be raised and to be. Had that not been the case there would not have been any Jesus, any Buddha, any Nanak, any Mohammed, any Rama, any Krishna and all those others whose names I cannot repeat because of shortage of time. Time and history has proven that if there is anything which you can do, you can create all these whom we remember out of your psyche, your projection and your being.

THE ART OF APPRECIATION

JUNE 27, 1984

Today we are talking about something very, very important. The greatest enemy of every woman is her insecurity. She remains insecure in love, she remains insecure with her children, she remains insecure with her husband. There’s a tremendous amount of continuous insecurity which doesn’t exist in her, yet she creates it in her psyche.

Now, here comes a basic question: why does woman feel insecure? Can anybody answer me, please?

STUDENT: She has learned to be that way because she’s been exploited and manipulated.

YOGI BHAJAN: Well,
