Introduction

In the year 2008, the Lord Jesus spoke to me and said, The only way to gain and keep the anointing upon your life is to hate sin with a passion. Sin is the number one enemy of the anointing or God’s presence. Hence, if you want to see the anointing increase in your life, righteousness is the way to go! This book is written to give you an understanding of the divine exchange that took place on the cross.

It is a book with insights detailing the transitioning of man from the natural realm into the supernatural realm. Especially the transaction that took place on the cross when Jesus imputed or credited to us His righteousness. It is no wonder that today, Jesus Christ has become our righteousness once and for all.

Assuredly, there was a divine exchange that happened on the cross. He became sin so that we could become His righteousness and He also became poor so that we could be rich (2 Corinthians 5:21; 8:9). What a privilege!

We cannot number the things that the righteousness which came by Jesus Christ has done for every child of God today—they are incalculable! They are beyond comprehension. Every born-again child of God is a by-product of this righteousness called, Imputed righteousness. For sure, it never came by work or hard labour—it was purely God’s love at work. It didn’t happen outside of God’s love, but within His unfathomable and incorruptible love. It is an orchestration of God’s own Sovereign will.

The righteousness of Jesus Christ has given us access to God’s throne. We can now come boldly before His throne to get mercy and grace. Your entire life hinges on this imputed righteousness. The same has also become our enthronement into realms of glory and power. Actually, righteousness is a divine act of God’s own mercy. It is such a huge and unfathomable privilege for us to be called the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:21

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

It is also easy to make it to heaven because of the same righteousness of the Son of God, which we have received. When you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, you have also accepted and partaken of His righteousness. That righteousness gives you the right standing with God. However, for us to make it to Heaven, we have to reflect or abide in that righteousness of the Son of God until He comes back.

Matthew 24:13-14

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Philippians 2:12-13

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

It is not to scare you, but to help you understand the need for us to walk in holiness as we wait for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, we have to stand firm in the righteousness of the Son of God today and forever! The good news is that when you understand imputed righteousness, you will stop the devil from harassing your life. You will walk in unstoppable victory in Christ Jesus at will. Just remember! This righteousness in Christ Jesus is not imputed or accredited to you because of your hard work or goodness, but your faith in Christ Jesus!!

Chapter 1

From Sin to Righteousness

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

—Ephesians 2:1-3

Many people don’t want and have no time to talk about sin. Yet, it is sin or disobedience that has brought the entire world into corruption. The world is trapped in darkness and cruelty due to sin! The Bible says in Psalm 74:18-20:

Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O Lord, And that a foolish people has blasphemed Your name. Oh, do not deliver the life of Your turtledove to the wild beast! Do not forget the life of Your poor forever. Have respect to the covenant; For the dark places of the earth are full of the haunts of [cruelty.

So all cruelty that we see today in this world results from the spirit of disobedience—sin! This spirit is working, till now, both in adults and young adults. Now, the only way to become secured in life is to identify God’s answer to sin. God’s answer to sin is righteousness. There was a sin setback in the Garden of Eden, which Jesus came to address on earth. The entire mission or project demanded His death on the cross as the price.

Benefits of Righteousness

(1) THE FEAR OF GOD

In the first place, understand that righteousness is not an option, but a must! I was once taught in school, many years ago, that a must is a must. This means you can’t do without it as a child of God. Righteousness will always bring you to a place in life where you naturally develop the fear of God. A place where honouring or revering God becomes your uttermost delight and priority in life (John 4:34). It is also very important to understand that greatness of any kind has its roots in the fear of God.

Hence, each time you walk in the fear of God, you are setting yourself up for divine promotion and enlargement in every way. Also, if you want to locate greatness in your own life, you must first strive to walk in the fear of God. To fear God is to hate evil! Great people never turn away from God, but turn their hearts to God. The Psalmist and prophet of God, David once said:

Psalm 34:5

They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed.

Greatness is not a discipline or faculty in any university, but a product of the fear of God. To fear God is to hate evil with a passion (Hebrews 1:9). Godly fear will elevate you or a nation into greatness. It will redeem you from going down to the pit (Job 33:23-24). It will preserve your own destiny and place you above what is afflicting other people. The fear of the LORD will crown you with God’s goodness and glory. It will also command divine presence and favour in your life. Not only that, it will also open barren wombs and cause blessings of life to spring forth. Godly fear will open closed doors and opportunities for life. Actually, it is the highest form of prayer and worship. Isaiah, the prophet of God, mentions something powerful in Isaiah 65:24:

It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.

When you walk in Godly fear or righteousness, by doing whatever God instructs you in His Word, then praying for your needs or breakthroughs will be too late. He will answer your needs even before you pray or ask. That is how powerful walking in Godly fear is. Godly fear is actually honouring God!
