I have observed many believers through the years live life broken, defeated, and void of the promises of God. I could not understand why promises were not fulfilled, dreams were not actualized, prophet- ic decrees and declarations spoken over them had not manifested. As I grew in my own fa

    About the Author 125

I want to acknowledge my husband, the one whom God has joined me to; the one I love immensely and affectionately call my Honey, Sylvester W. Downs III. To my two beautiful and gifted children, Maddisyn and Malachi; my children’s children and as many as the Lord, my God, shall call, I love you endlessly.

    Foreword

Don’t Be Bullied by the Devil is insightful; offering powerful revelation in understandably and unintimidating chunks. It encourages the weak in spirit to gain strength in the Word and reminds the strong of the source of their strength. If you’re low in power, you’ll be empowered to rise up and fight. If you’re a seasoned warrior, you’ll be refreshed and rekindled to wage war against the enemy at a greater level.

Thank you, Prophetess Downs for being in our corner.

Almost everyone hates a bully. In Sherri Down’s first literary work, we discover the biggest and worst bully of them all. She exposes Satan’s mind games of intimation and fear that rob us of the abundant life that Christ promised. Sherri does a remarkable job exposing the nature and methodologies used by our archenemy to hold us in prisons of fear, failure, and oppression. As you read, Don’t Be Bulled by the Devil, you will be challenged to overcome the tactics of the biggest bully and your worst enemy. Learn how he causes families to suffer demonic cycles of poverty, division, and bondage.

The author makes the teachings in this book come alive by sharing many of her own personal revelations and experiences that helped her to overcome challenges the enemy and life raised up against her. This book will teach you what it means to win (walk in newness) and live a victorious life through the Word of God. I recommend Don’t Be Bulled by the Devil for those individuals who are wholeheartedly interested in pursuing their own mental and spiritual freedom and helping others to experience victorious living!

I encourage all leaders, believers, and those who desire the confidence needed to withstand the attacks of the enemy to purchase this book. Prophetess Sheri Downs masterfully articulates the heart and mind of God for the body of Christ through reminding us of our God given authority. The authority that we possess as new covenant believers is found in Christ. Prophetess Sherri has written a book for our time and for our generation, encouraging us to emerge above the tactics of the enemy and repossess what we may have lost. Boldness is our response to every attack from the enemy in our life.

    —Louis C. Wimbley

To be addressed as Pastor Joshua McPheeters is not how I envisioned myself in my youth. I wasn’t born to be a preacher, nor when it was time to play church as a child, I would look for the play microphone and pretend to preach a sermon. It wasn’t me! I am a witness that the outcome of purpose is not dictated by how we see ourselves. Living sacrifices, as we proclaim ourselves to be, don’t make our own life decisions. The sovereignty of God Almighty dictates and orders our steps as disciples. Purpose is the echoing refrain throughout the song of every disciple’s life. My sister and I have received a similar mandate, Illuminate purpose!

Bullying is a dysfunction that sets its roots early in the development of its victims, establishing precedent to how things are supposed to be. The adversary uses these tactics to build mental blocks in the lives of disciples to hinder the development and the execution of our purpose in God. He never stops bullying, but we don’t have to be victims of his attempts. My sister uncovers the tactics that the enemy has set in motion to bind and entrap our thinking, tactics the adversary needs to complete his mission. If unresolved, we would continue ministering with limitations because we have a cap on our ability to be used as empty vessels because our vessels aren’t truly empty. We don’t have to fall prey to the enemy. We are the righteousness of God in Christ, …old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Knowledge is power! Knowing who we are and the power we possess as children of God yields us limitless in our endeavor to build God’s kingdom. Gaining and maintaining the mentality of the newness of life in Christ halts the enemy’s bully tactics. The knowledge of our place in God fortifies our foundation, and the knowledge of God’s word strengthens our weapon. Swinging the sword of the spirit at the tactics of the enemy always renders victory! We are conquerors! We don’t have to succumb to the fiery darts of Satan. We have read the Bible. We know in the end who wins. So the ruckus, the smoke, the clouds, the negativity, it all has to take a back seat. We know who we are; we know what we have in Christ! Satan, you can’t have our peace. You can’t have our joy. You can’t have our families. We can stand firm-footed and proclaim to the enemy that as sure as we are still standing here God’s promises shall come to pass. We don’t look like what we’ve been through because God’s glory rests upon us. We shall come forth as pure gold. The hotter the fire, the purer we become. The more we go through, the wiser we become. The process of the glory of God in our lives is underway and the King of Kings is right by our side! Leading us, guiding us, freeing us, saving us! We know who we are. We know the power he has granted us. Equipped with this knowledge, all things are possible!

Coming to the forefront of her purpose, my sister has experienced the adversary’s hand at work trying to shut the mouth of the prophet. Using bullying tactics to push her around, to keep her mouth closed, to discredit her character, and to wage war in her mind to keep her distracted. Thanks be unto God that the devil has not won! The fight continues, and through the grace of God, we have another example and another testimony to the greatness of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!

As a pastor, I’ve been a victim of the adversary’s bullying tactics. Early negative encounters from the secular world: You need speech classes. You don’t talk right. You can’t sing in the school choir. Your voice isn’t right.

Looking back, I can see how those encounters could have shut the mouth of the preacher or stifled the voice of the worshipper, but glory be unto God because greater is
