    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I would like to give thanks to all those generals in God’s army who have spoken in my life, those who have taught me that there is a supernatural battle we are in. It is a great honor to serve Christ—to stand for His mission without wavering, without compromise, without looking back.

    Take a Stand, No Fear

I dream a dream so sweet, something me alone can’t beat

A Lion and a Snake facing off with no haste

The Lion large, golden, and strong

circling the Lion the Snake was hissing his bloodthirsty song.

The Serpent strikes, His fangs flashing

The Lion makes his move without dashing

Roaring thunder, The Lion sends the Snake away into some sort of abyss,

    but only halfway.

The Lion takes a stand, digging his claws into the ground

watching, watching the Serpent thrashing upon the ground.

The snake hisses in fury, this vision was not blurry.

The Serpent slugged out an inch! While the lion did not flinch.

Pushing the Serpent back with bold, golden eyes

The Lion keeps his eyes on only the snake, never making a hasty mistake.

Back and forward this battle went on, now I know who’s side I am on.

I think we all should be the Lion, Yes we must!

Facing our problems from dawn to dusk.

    CHAPTER 1

    Who or What Are Giants?

We all have giants in some season of our lives. We have the power to get rid of them through Jesus Christ. These giants invade our lives from different avenues. It may be a person you work with or, a family member, a bully, a financial institution, a hurtful event in your past—or perhaps the giant is within you. You may think you are your own worst enemy. I thought that on many occasions also. Most of the time I was completely right: yes, it was me. I was the one who allowed the giants to manifest and to get the best of me. I had low self-esteem, felt intimidated by others, and was depressed after my mom’s death and my later divorce.

It took some time for me to shake these things loose. It was only the Lord that could break the cycle in my mind and heal my heart. What is it for you? Is it fear, discouragement, depression, anger, pride, racism, greed, intimidation, alcohol, drugs, sex, homosexuality, self-indulgence? Which of these overtakes you and your way of life? I challenge you to examine yourselves. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to what He sees in your heart. It is a good thing to want to get set free from these sins. You shouldn’t be ashamed. Nor should you allow religion, family, or anyone else to make you feel ashamed. Just deal with it. Get it out of your life. Jesus Christ is the answer. He is the way to freedom, peace, and your promised land.

What is your promised land, you ask? I don’t know, but I do know it’s a lot better than where you are now. The Lord never leaves us where He found us. As you grow closer to Him, He is a loving Father who wants the best for you. This life we are living is sometimes tough. It isn’t easy. There is a way however, to redirect your thinking and response to it. The answers lie within the written word of God.

This book takes you on a journey in knowing God and knowing your enemy. Through the Word of God, you will see how and when to fight. It will encourage you to continue fighting in prayer, to speak the spoken word, and to repent. Persist in your pursuit. If you truly are a disciple of Christ, you too are a warrior as He is. His tactics are not as we would imagine—but just imagine winning all the battles and the war.

Giants could be a number of things. List yours and deal with them together with Jesus Christ. You can because you have hope in Him. If you are tired and weary and your hope is lost, don’t be discouraged. He can renew your strength. Surrender to Him and step into a higher calling in Him in overcoming giants.

    CHAPTER 2

    Why They Intimidate

And do not [for a moment] be frightened or intimidated in anything by your opponents and adversaries, for such [constancy and fearlessness] will be a clear sign (proof and seal) to them of [their impending] destruction, but [a sure token and evidence] of your deliverance and salvation, and that from God. (Philippians 1:28 AMP)

The translation of the New King James Version expresses this as and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. The word terrified in the Greek is pturo, which means to be frightened, terrified, or alarmed. I would say that if you are intimidated, you surely aren’t at peace but are feeling uneasy or scared. The apostle Paul tells us that we are not to be frightened or intimidated by our adversaries. Paul suffered much persecution for his faith and service to Christ. Many disciples faced the same persecution through many centuries. We too face persecution. It can come toward us in the form of words, physical abuse, rejection, intimidation, and even martyrdom. This intimidation can be brought on by force, through leadership influence, or threats.

    Satan’s Bullying Tactics

When you were a kid, were you picked on by a bully? Seems there are thousands of us who have had bullies in our lives, no matter our age. Many teens have lost their lives from bullying, especially through social media. Let me share some statistics with you.¹

    • Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to the CDC. For every suicide among young people, there are at least a thousand suicide attempts. More than 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it.

    • Victims of bullying are two to nine times more likely to consider suicide, according to studies by Yale University.

    • A study in Great Britain found that at least half of suicides among young people are related to bullying. Girls ages ten to fourteen may be at even higher risk for suicide.

    • According to an ABC News report, nearly 30 percent of students are either bullies or victims of bullying, and 160,000 kids stay home from school every day because of fear of bullying.

Folks, this folks has to stop. Satan cannot have our kids. It’s staggering that one person or group of people can overwhelm another to the point where they are succumb to the will of their intimidators. The crushed self-esteem of the victim of bullying
