About this ebook

The Road to Your Deliverance and Restoration is a book that helps Christians and non-Christians identify the source of a curse and other spiritual bondages and to use the proper way to break the curse through the light of the word of God.

Many people go through spiritual and physical difficulties without understanding the reason. They go from one church to another and one pastor to another, seeking help without receiving one. Lack of knowledge is one of our biggest enemies, and the Bible says, "My people perish for lack of knowledge."

The book of Proverbs 26: 2 says, ‘So a curse without cause shall not alight." To break a curse, you must find the cause; and if you cannot get to the root cause of a problem, you will never solve that problem. It is very difficult for a doctor to treat a patient if he or she cannot find the root cause of the illness.

Almost all of the problems that we go through in life come from the following eleven sources:

Generational curse coming from generational sins of parents and grandparents

God Himself

Others and yourself

Goods acquired in a fraudulent way

Names

Rebellion against authorities and leaders

Contact with Occultism in its various forms

Sexual sins in their various forms

Emotional wounds, bitterness, and refusal to forgive

Fear in all its forms

The pursuit of the world and its values

The purpose of this book is to show how to use biblical truths to uncover the true cause of a curse and spiritual bondage in our own lives and the lives of others to help them find emotional healing and spiritual freedom. Thus, the book explains the causes of a curse and spiritual bondage and offers biblical solutions to how to break them.

To Alice Victoria, my wife and my greatest supporter in my life and ministry. In tough times and in good times, your words and encouragement have helped me in good and bad times. Thank you for supporting me and not giving up on me. I love you much.

To my children—Michaela, Gabrielle, Isaiah, and Timothy—I love you all so much for being there for me. You all are the reason I am still standing in ministry even when things are not easy sometimes.

Finally, to my mother, Elise, and father, Sylvain Mbuyi, who perhaps helped chart my course to where I am and who I am today. I include all the brothers and sisters and the International Tree of Life Church family. Thank you all for all of your support, and I love you all.

    Introduction: How Long, O Lord?

    How Long, O Lord?

Many Christians or non-Christians often say the following:

    "I will never have children."

    "I will never succeed."

    "I will never be healed."

    "I will never get married."

"I will never be set free."

    "My life will never change."

    "My situation will never change."

It is a lie that contradicts the work Jesus Christ accomplished at the cross where He said, "It is finished…" (John 19:30).

Look again at the passage. It is remarkable in how it repeats one singular idea—completion, fulfillment, finishing. Completed/finished/accomplished in verses 28 and 30 is the related verb teleō ("to complete an activity or process, bring to an end, finish, and complete something").

What was finished? What was the mission that was now finished? Why did Jesus come? Let us look at how Jesus defined His mission. He said in the book of Luke 4:18–19:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

However, each of these seems like a means or aspect of the ultimate purpose to reconnect us to the Father and save us from our sins.

The church is the only divine institution that has the power to preach the Gospel, heal the brokenhearted, set the captives free, open the eyes of the blinds, set at liberty those who are bruised, and proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

The church is like a hospital where you find different specialties and gifts. Just like a hospital, you have cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and surgeons. Ephesians 4:11 said, "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;" all these for the good of the church. Some pastors are specialized in spiritual warfare and deliverance while some are not; and many who are not claim that when you are born again you cannot live under a curse. Paul spoke about deliverance and demons in Ephesians 6. The Bible said in the book of Isaiah 53:5, "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

This does not mean that as Christians, we cannot get sick, but it means when we get sick we can claim the healing that Jesus obtained for us at the cross of Calvary through His blood. Some people had diabetes, high blood pressure, or cancer before they were born again; and after salvation, they still have the same sickness in their bodies. Some, after being born again, are still under the influence of evil spirits like witchcraft and others.

There are many Christians who are born again and come to church but are still under bondage. They cannot sleep at night; they are always under spiritual attacks in their dreams. Nothing seems to move in a good direction in their lives. They feel like they are inside a box or living what someone else lived in their family.

This book will help you understand what is happening in your life and give you the different steps to follow to be set free and be able to help others understand what is happening in their lives. The Bible said in the book of John 8:32, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Our biggest enemy is not Satan because he has been defeated at the cross, but our biggest enemy is ignorance of certain spiritual truths. One thing Satan will do is try to cast doubt in you so he can rule and control your life. Satan tried to question the identity of Jesus as a Son of God in the book of Matthew 4:1–11.

After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. If you are the Son of God, he said, throw yourself down.

We need to remember that the Bible calls Satan the father of all lies in the book of John 8:44.

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Satan will try to convince many people that when they receive Christ as their Lord and Savior, they are free from curses or a born-again Christian cannot be tormented by evil spirits so he can maintain them in bondage. I have seen many lives changed and transformed through the ministry of deliverance. Able women conceived after several miscarriages because of certain spiritual covenants in their families that prevented them from having children.

A curse can become like a roadblock to prevent what the Lord is trying to do in someone’s life. You can receive dreams, visions, prophecies, and revelations; and they can remain on hold for years until the curse is broken in the name of Jesus Christ. Some people received dreams, visions, revelations, and prophecies from God but left the earth without seeing the fulfillment of these promises.

There is a parable of Lazarus and the rich man in the book of Luke 16:19–22.

There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.

Lazarus was a child of God but was living in poverty, and the rich man was not a child of God and was living a wealthy life. They both died on the same day and took two different directions. Many children died and never fulfilled their destiny or lived the life that God has planned for them on earth. You can know God and die poor not because it was the will of God but because of your ignorance.

My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because they have rejected knowledge… (Hosea 4:6)

God has a wonderful plan for your life. You were created for a purpose and the plan of God is not for us to suffer on earth and make it to heaven when we die, but God wants us to be successful on earth as well to reflect His glory and to be a blessing for the kingdom. The Bible said in the book of Jeremiah 29:11, "God said: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’"

As Christians, we need to understand that even though our focus and the final destination is paradise, God has placed us here on earth to be blessed and to become a source of blessing for others. God created man to have dominion on the earth. We do understand that God has prepared a destiny for every mankind, but in every destiny, it takes good decisions and going through the process to be able to fulfill your destiny.

The Bible said in the book of Psalm 115: 16, "The heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind." God has given us the earth to have dominion and to have dominion we need to remove anything spiritually that can be an obstacle to our destiny.

    Why Is Deliverance So Important?

The release of the cross must have its effect in the field of the spirit, the body, and the heart, having a spiritual and physical impact on man.

Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth! and he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, Loose him, and let him go. (John 11:43–44)

The text illustrates perfectly the state of the man to the new birth: He left the tomb of death, and he lives. But he must act, breathe, and walk.

Lazarus coming out of the tomb had

bound hands. The hands make it possible for someone to act, exert, or work. However, the bound hands can only force a man to failure, incapacity, inactivity, passivity, and lead him to dryness and sterility. After the new birth, you still are going through the same things—failure.

bound feet. The bands which still intertwined its feet prevented him from walking in the new faith through Jesus Christ. This obstacle was real, forcing him to remain on one spot, see the same things, and living the same experiments of the new life without other testimonies.

wrapped face. Not being able to see, Lazarus remained in the blindness although having life. Hecan’t perceive the things of the Spirit. Lazarus’s thought was darkened and his vision was limited to the bands on his eyes.

Loose him, and let him go: Every man and woman after salvation—meaning new birth—needs to go through deliverance to break the chains to remove clothes wrapping our faces, our hands, and feet so we can serve God freely.

The book of Luke 1:73–75 said, "The oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before in all our days."

It is difficult to serve God and move forward with our Christian lives if we still have a lot of bondages in our lives. It was very important for Saul, who soon became Paul, to be set free after meeting Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus (Acts 9:1–22). Saul was a murder, someone who had Christians blood on his hands, and he needed
