This book is with humility dedicated to the Holy Ghost, who is the power behind every successful ministration of healing and deliverances that I have been involved. I am forever grateful for the company of the Holy Spirit in my daily work in the ministry.

I also dedicate this book to all those candidates who responded to the calls of salvation through my ministration and to them that encountered miracles of healing, deliverances, and marriage reconciliation and the prayer team that works with me daily. To God be the Glory.

    FOREWORD

WE ARE PRESENTLY IN A war for souls. Paul writes in Ephesians 6:12–13,For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Dr. Obi O. Edward skillfully teaches and trains his readers to utilize our strongest weapon—prayer. As Dr. Edward’s former senior pastor and friend, I can say that he is not just writing a book on prayer; his life is a constant act of prayer. Through all his struggles, great and small, he has been guided by communication with his Heavenly Father.

Please note that the strategies and teachings presented here have been proven in daily application. Thank God for a family who has trusted Jesus and pulled down strongholds in His name.

Reader, enjoy the journey in winning that battle before you!

    INTRODUCTION

THERE IS A BATTLE THAT is hanging before the promises, and we need to fight that war to regain what has been promised to us. Since the city of Jericho was walled and fenced all around, it has been given to us as an inheritance. The enemies are guiding and protecting what has been given to us.

So there is war because we have no other alternative but to take the war battle to the enemy’s stronghold. Also, because the Lord our God, whose promises we are reclaiming, is the head of every principalities, the maker, and the creator of all things

Isaiah 54:16 says, See it is I who created the blacksmith, who fans the coal into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work, and it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc.

Now be empowered to launch a counterattack to reclaim what belongs to you without fear.

Set out aggressive war strategies and go for it. You must not leave anything behind. Please recover all that was promised to you.

Everything the devil has stolen from you or your inheritance according to the promises, which the enemy is seating upon, you are assured of victory. Isaiah 54:17 says, No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and this is their vindication from me, declares the Lord.

    Chapter 1

    OVERCOMING CHALLENGES BY PRAYER WARFARE

EACH ONE OF US MUST face one kind of challenge or more. There are situations we will all encounter in life, which we shall have no control. These situations are unexpected, and they can never be prevented as long as we live on earth.

Many people today are still trying to recover and overcome certain challenges they face through broken marriages; delays in conceiving (barrenness); death of family member; losing jobs, dream homes, and cars; collapse of business, and health issues. There are so many whatever categories your own may have fallen into. Be informed that these are the challenges of life. The point is not to pretend to be happy when we face pain but to have a positive outlook (James 1:2).

As a result of the above mentioned list of what people are going through, I have encountered through counseling, spanning many years of being in counseling and praying ministry, hundreds and thousands of families and individuals who are unable to face and overcome the challenges they encountered. They fall through difficult times and attacks that are associated to them.

Even though troubles come with differences, they still bring pain, crises, and limitations. Be informed that all these issues are caused by one spirit— satanic attack in human bodies.

Since it is natural to pass through all kinds of afflictions and crises in life, it is then encouraging and necessary for one to have a strong position toward overcoming challenges in life. The Word of God has become a solid foundation to stand spiritually as you face each day and whatever that comes out through the day. Have a strong mentality and psychological platform and be spiritually strong to be victorious every day of your life. Let your platform and stronghold be the name of the Lord.

Proverb 18:10 says, The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe. If your foundation is found in God, then you will overcome your daily and emotional challenges and win the battle.

The scripture verse I love to meditate in the face of afflictions is Psalm 34:19, Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

We often wish we could escape troubles; the pain of grief, loss, sorrow, and failures; or even the small daily frustrations that constantly wear us down. God promises to be near to those who have a broken heart. To be our source of power, courage, and wisdom and to be able to help through our problems, sometimes He chooses to deliver us from those problems when trouble strikes. Don’t get frustrated with God. Instead, admit that you need God’s help, and thank Him for being there by your side.

But first, have your foundation laid and established firmly in God. Then you will be victorious after. Your time of victory shall come. Resist and overcome because your time must come. Time of freedom must come for you. You only need to stand firm in the Lord. James 1:2 encourages us to count it all joy because of what trials and temptations can produce in our lives. He continues to say that we should turn our hardship into a time of learning. Tough time does not last forever. It has a time when it will expire, but it teaches us to learn patience and perseverance and steadfastness. As you go through your own pain, just have hope that the Lord must come. The Word of God did not say if you face trial, but when you face them. The writer of the book of James assumes that we will all have trials and temptations, and there is also a possibility to profit from them. When they have finished their cause on you, you must have learned your lessons from what you have gone through. Praise God that your time of liberation is coming your way. Note that our time is in the hand of the Almighty God. There is a need to recognize God and the power of His grace in our lives during our time of sorrow and hardship.

There are a few things the Word of God expected you to learn and the effect of positive changes the situation has brought to your life. These are the basic principles that will usher in the power and the time of total liberation from the Lord.

Consider that the world today is in a culture that is filled with moral depravity and sin-inducing pressures. Apostle Paul in the Word of God to the Corinthians gave a strong encouragement about trials and temptations, which are the source of the challenges we face today. Consider the following: (1) wrong desires and temptations happen to everyone, so don’t feel that you’ve been singled out; (2) others have resisted temptation and so can you; and (3) any temptation can be resisted because God will help you resist it.

Help from God in Times of Temptations and Trials

God helps you resist temptations by helping you recognize those people and situations that give you trouble. God helps you run from anything you know that is wrong. God helps you choose to do only what is right. God helps you to know that you should pray for His help always. God helps you seek friends who love God and offer help when you are tempted. We are not running from tempting situations, but examining your life always and maintaining your salvation will be your first steps when tempted.

When the fullness of the time had come, God sent Jesus to earth to die for our sins (Gal. 4:4). For centuries, the Jews had been wondering when their Messiah would come, but God’s timing was perfect. We may sometimes wonder if God will ever respond to our prayers. But we must never doubt Him or give up hope. At the right time, He will respond. Are you waiting for God’s timing? Trust His judgment, and trust that He has your best interest in mind and that God never fails.

Winning the battle of challenges and spiritual attacks before you needs the two basic words, which help you build up winning strategies. They are the foundation of your success.

The two words described are faith and confidence. These two qualities need a secure beginning and ending point with you. The beginning point of faith is believing in God’s character that He is who He says He is, and the end point is believing in God’s promises that He will do what He says. We must believe that God will fulfill His promises even though we don’t see those promises materializing yet. We have to demonstrate time-tested faith. This is the beginning of our victorious battle.

Therefore, do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. You will have a need of endurance so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise and be victorious over any kind of attacks and challenges.

It’s easy to get discouraged, thinking that God has forgotten us, but God is never unjust or late. He never forgets or overlooks our hard work for Him. Presently, you may not be receiving rewards and acclaims, but God knows your effort of love and ministry. Let God’s love for you and His intimate knowledge of your service for Him bolster you as you face your challenges, disappointments, and rejections here on earth (Gen. 12:7, 13:14–16, 15:4–5, 17:16, 21:1–3).

Abraham waited patiently. It was twenty-five years from the time God had promised him a son, Isaac. Our trials and temptations are often so intense they seem to last for an eternity, but both the Bible and the testimony of mature Christians encourage us to wait for God to act in His timing, even when our needs seem too great to wait any longer.

God’s promises are unchanging and trustworthy because God is unchanging and trustworthy (immutable) when He promised Abraham a son. God took an oath in His own name. The oath was as good as God’s name, and God’s name was as good as His divine nature.

Even though the enemies have been in control of what belongs to you and robbed you of your happiness, God has plans for your restoration. You will win that battle before you because God is with you.

David applied an aggressive warfare strategies against Goliath—the giant and the enemy of the Israelites. In the spiritual battles, you must, first of all, dominate and overcome the strategies of your enemies. Overcome the intimidations and fears they inflect on you. From there, you are taking over, then you strike your enemies and win the battle befoe you.

    Chapter 2

A GUIDE TO A VICTORIOUS PRAYER WARFARE

IN FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL BATTLES of any kind or trying to overcome challenges of health, limitations, addictions, or job crises; business failures or marriage troubles, etc. through prayer warfare, there are certain rules and guides that needed to be in place before you could achieve your expected victory.

You can win all the battles of spiritual attacks wedged against you and your family if only you will abide and follow the spiritual principle of God and have it laid down as your foundation and your stronghold. In this chapter, we shall consider few Godly principles as a guide for you to win that battle against you.

There is a need for you to fight with authority when you are already standing on a solid foundation. In Psalm 85:13, the Bible says, Righteousness will go before him, and shall make His footsteps our pathway.

In warfare battle, you must remember that this is spiritual war and you need God in fighting this battle. It is advisable to start during your preparation by examining yourself daily and see if you possess the spiritual qualities to fight the spiritual battle.

Lord Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind. Let me see your vengeance on them, for to you I have committed my cause.

    —Jeremiah 20:12

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 13:5, Examine yourselves as to whether you are still in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you are disqualified(NKJV). This guide is very necessary before you go into any kind of spiritual battle. This is confirming that you must live a life of blamelessness and maintain holiness because the Lord who fights for you is holy. Apostle Paul encouraged the church in Corinthians to examine and test themselves to see if they really were Christians. Just as we get physical checkups, he urges us to give ourselves a spiritual checkup always. As we do that, there is a need for us to see the growing awareness of Christ’s presence and power in our lives. This will determine if we are true Christians who can command the power and authority in any spiritual battle or merely imposters who claimed to be what they are not. This is the reason why so many people could not win the spiritual battle they are fighting.

If we are not taking active steps to grow closer to God, then we are drawing further away from Him and cannot win any spiritual battle wedged by the enemies. This phrase means that we are responsible to use well what we have. When people reject Jesus through their noncommitment to spiritual principle of God,
