About this ebook

A Pronouncing Dictionary of American English(即俗稱之KK音標)為主要依據。

改為[i]與[u],如busy ['b0z0]改為['b0zi],tissue ['t0N?]改為['t0Nu],period ['p0r0Dd]改為['p0riDd],usual ['juI?Dl]改為['juIuDl]。

    2. 音節音[9]、[%]改為[Dl]與[Dn],如little ['l0t9]改為['l0tDl],hidden ['h0d%]改為['h0dDn]。

    3.  [or]改為[Cr],如door [dor]改為[dCr],score [skor]改為[skCr]。

    4.  [hw]改為[w],如why[hwa0]改為[wa0],wheat[hwit]改為[wit]。

    5. 齒齦音([t]、[d]、[n]、[l]、[s]、[z])之後的[ju]改為[u],如tube [tjub]改為[tub],dew [dju]改為[du],new [nju]改為[nu],lewd [ljud]改為[lud],sue [sju]改為[su],Zeus [zjus]改為[zus]。

    1. Webster’s Third New International Dictionary

    2. The Random House Dictionary of the English Language, Second Edition, Unabridged

    3. The New American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Revised Taiwan Edition

    4. The Compact Edition of the Oxford English Dictionary, Complete Text Reproduced Micrographically

    5. The Encyclopedia Americana, International Edition, 1978

    6. Collins Cobuild English-Chinese Language Dictionary, 2000

The Original Roget’s Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases
