Chapter 1 The Night Club, Bristol
Randolph:
Good food at that restaurant, I must go again.
Harry:
Your nightclub is heaving with revellers.
Randolph:
It’s around 12.30. So a little later than we anticipated, you can go on soon and soften them up for the girls
Harry:
Yes they've really mellowed after that dinner, fine food and wine sets the stage itself, we've just got to go on and do it now to finish the evening off, as if it were a smoke and a chat in a bar but this is songs and music on stage, some chat too.
Randolph:
Oh yes I somehow think they got slightly spoilt being well connected, if I have a chance to go there again it will not be as opulent .
Harry:
A nice office you have here
Randolph:
For late nights, a small suite adjoining, nice to take a lady up after a long night, book cases roll along to reveal it
Harry:
Nice touch, literary works hiding your den, palatial, girls will approve of the ensuite bathroom
Randolph:
Always top priority, women love their bathrooms
Harry:
Your CCTV in the office is good
Randolph:
We’ve got 30 cameras around the place ,
Harry:
You need to know whats happening in case of a spot of bother. The airborne type of missiles at the stage if we're not liked maybe. I’ve seen all this happen .
Randolph:
There’s a net the crew drops down If that event occurs, clever cause the bottles roll into containers at the bottom.
Harry:
It’s part of the fun, if you don’t like the act you can try and annihilate them. Saves you collecting the bottles and comforting for the act on stage .
Randolph:
Yep the DJ is waving at the camera so you gonna start, time to leave the comfortable office
Harry:
Yep, sure thing
Randolph:
Follow the crew thats coming along
Harry:
So you’re the Captain I take it
Randolph:
You got it, that’s how we operate here, a tight ship weathers the storms. I’ve got one down your neck of the woods
Harry:
Yep me too. I suspect yours may be a large boat
Randolph:
Oh yes, 80 foot, a motorboat down in Falmouth.
Harry:
Small world mine is a little more like a tender to yours.
Randolph:
I knew I recognised you from somewhere, Pendennis, right.
Harry:
You got it and yours is a palatial motorboat with a large launch on the top, if I’m thinking of the correct one
Randolph:
Yep, here the boys and the Dj is waving frantically, good luck
Harry:
A storm is about to hit this lot
Randolph:
Go for it, no Nuns or Reverends in tonight so you can put the fear of god into this lot
Harry: An Alexis Sayle routine tonight
Randolph:
Who? Before my time, I’ll look him up later.
Harry goes down to the stage with Randolph's crew. Harry walks onto to the stage DJ introduces
Harry (mike):
You lot drunk enough yet I can’t smell the waft of alcohol yet up here, or you sophisticated and whacked up on drugs, I'm feeling kinda of high up here , thats the adrenaline with you lot here on mass.
Audience heckles jeers and shouts.
Harry (mike):
Well you're listening, I’m going to a rap version of a song that I did the other week, now then I do not know rap so I could do with a hand up here and we can make this song real blue, add some alcohol and fire into it, it was written for children so need something drastic doing, give it a Bristol touch.
Rappers come up on stage from the audience.
Harry:
Okay here’s the words, guys.
Harry hands printouts to the words to his song ‘Plan For the Planet’ Rappers read , song starts.
RAPPERS:
We know what's happening man, Mr Blue Man, stay cool, be cool and be blue , cause we read on This is as song for our planet, we've f ck d it real well, we want to go blue with Captain Blue , we wanna our descendants not to suffer, it's not right what were doing, not doing enough to save us from hell, we got too much gas from cars and planes, too many power stations not enough renewables. Methane and co2 , the greenhouse gasses are going to shrivel us up, no food and floods ain’t no good, every biting on our apple , too many bites no more resources and the apple is finished, cause were down to the core, politician, car man, airline carriers take at yourselves and Change real quick or you’ll be gone With us all in a pile of dust with The cars and planes left behind.
Remnants of our civilisation that caused our devastation, get out and walk no hurry at all, we going to make the days just last longer with no rides, forget our luxuries forget clean clothes every day we don't need the razzle and dazzle to be smart and happy, hey everybody slow down and listen now cause when we finished our apple its last one on the tree , our tree of life is gone, so take heed and lets do it, whats already done is done, it's never to late to have a go, slow down in the world and take a big breath then pause and think, we can avoid a big black hole.
On top there’s Cool Blue Productions on your pieces of paper so we calls you Mr Blue, so we can do another?
Harry:
Sure, saves me playing, you’ve your own one. I’ve not got another with me.
Rappers: Sure we got a few, but we do one more, not long, not as good as that last one though
Rappers do another 3 minutes number and the girls , JJ, JemJ, Lily and Tina appear at the side of the stage. Rappers finish and leave the stage
Harry (mike):
Here they are FIZZ from the US and two of their compatriots to help them along, round of applause please .
CROWD: Yo hoo, 90210, Californication, We love Beverly Hill Girls. They rock .
JJ (mike):
Good evening , we're new to over here , well my Sister and our friends are, most of you are the right age to know me. So we're doing some covers, 4 top American hits followed by 5 new songs from who your rappers named Mr Blue .
JemJ (mike): Yep Suzi Quattro devil may ride, love it, I can count it in
JJ :
Sure thing, you're cool enough
JemJ:
Totally mind blown with all these people, a one, a two, a one two three.......
Band plays Three covers are done, then the girls go on to play their now original numbers , the audience are dumbstruck and attentive. Randolph comes to the side of the stage.
Randolph:
Going well, they're the same age as the crowd so thats working well and these two girls JemJ and JJ are natural at working the crowd, cute, sexy and vulnerable all wrapped up in one.
Harry:
Yes, they’re liking the new songs, that was a Steve Carrel line
Randolph:
It was , these songs of yours are just perfect for them, spot on, they're on the JJ's website yet
Harry:
No
Randolph:
The house DJ will be taking a recording so I’ll give you that to download for the site of the girls. Pretty and talented the keyboard girls, they're going to be knockouts when there older and lost there girlishness
Harry:
I expect so, they haven’t go much to worry about .
Randolph: I suppose not, getting those rappers up onstage was a piece of genius by the way, that what’s professional entertainments about
Harry:
They’ve finished
Randolph:
Maybe not, JJ is heading over here
JJ:
Will you come on and do the travelling song, train song with us
Harry:
You got the words
JJ:
Yep and we know the basic chords
Randolph:
Go for it, here’s the 12 string.
Harry:
Okay jamming in front of a rather large audience who I thought might have been getting thirsty.
Randolph:
Oh no , they're going nowhere while these beauties are on the stage .
Harry:
Okay lets do this, you two buster
Randolph:
Maybe
JJ (mike):
You saw him at the beginning, Mr Blue to you , we're doing a new song which we’ve called the travelling train, it's really fresh, so we know the chords and it's a first time for us .
Harry (mike):
Yeah well it's only the third time for me , so I’ll take you in , I’ll stand wide for you girls to see me so you can follow , a one a two a one two .........uh maybe not
Randolph:
I couldn’t resist, I’m plugging up to give you a hand, I’ve done a load of jamming
JJ ( mike):
Okay if you don’t know who this guy is, he’s the proprietor of the club
Harry (mike):
Okay everybody looks ready, or as ready as we’re going to be, again a one a one a two three ......
Song ensues Harry and Randolph play together , keyboard accompanies Fizz , JJ JemJ sing along not playing next to the guitars. Randolph finishes with a guitar solo
Randolph:
You sure don't write short ones
JemJ:
At least we know the chorus
Randolph:
Well that’s my little guitar solo ended so finish off with chorus
Mikes fade back up on Randolph's finish
JemJ & JJ:
Have another go, have another blast
Gonna be slow, no fast lane here
My thoughts like a train
Soon to stop, but no final destination
My efforts wasted, my hopes straying
Well faded now, to far, too long ago
From time to time a new backcloth
New play new stage the show carries on
The show carries on, the show carries on
Song finishes, lights come up on the audience as they applaud, beer throwing starts amongst the audience.
Randolph:
Yep its beer soaking night Thursday, good for barrel promotion and the cleaners love it for overtime
Lily:
We're well over dressed for this happening.
JemJ:
I’ve got a carrier with my jeans and t-shirt in when Randolph mentioned this earlier.
Lily:
Best your bra is off or it’ll glue itself to you.
JemJ:
I’ll slip this off in the corner and change
Randolph:
I’ll put a member of the crew with her so you can relax Harry
Tina:
Looks like mayhem and lots of hair washing in the morning
JemJ:
I love a bit of a riot, you go up to the office, nothing to worry about
Randolph:
Crews good too, you can see her fun times on the cameras .
Harry:
Let’s retreat and wait .
JemJ:
Won’t be long, just gotta do this
The three girls and Harry go up to the office, Randolph accompanies JemJ to the dance floor accompanied by crew, then goes to the house bar.
Harry:
That went okay, you had them in the palm of your hand, you're acting talents along with the singing flowed throughout your performance.
JJ:
You inspire confidence and my sister was up for the occasion,
Harry:
It went well. the rappers were good
Lily:
Yes it got crowd on a harmonious level with local talent performing
Tina:
Yep, I liked that rap version of the song, I take you’d written the version in rap before
Harry:
Yep I had an idea so I did it with a rough version, the rappers picked it up well and smoothed it off. The House DJ has recorded it all.
JJ:
That’s great for the website.
Lily:
May we can pull off some of the CCTV footage for our dads.
Tina: It's a comprehensive set-up Randolph has here. I wonder if dad has a secret den in his office
Lily:
Our great grandmamas would have found it, they've a nose for finding things.
Harry:
Maybe they had secret dens as well.
Tina:
Always possible, sticking with the same man forever takes some discipline, and they were often apart in those days
Harry:
Well room for imagination for you're never going you find out
Tina:
I know and nowadays secrets are virtually impossible with technology, there's JemJ on the webcam
JJ:
Oh yes she’s up for some beer chucking, she’s never drunk it.
Harry:
They’ll be slaughtered by four this lot I’m seeing, students go for it after their first life of a restricted home environment, out of the cave and into the jungle.
Lily:
This place is a mind opener and beer is very popular in the UK.
Chapter 2. The hotel, next day
A large double room bedroomed apartment and lounge with interconnecting doors.
JJ: What’s the time Harry?
Harry on the sofa
Harry:
It’s around one in the afternoon we didn’t get back to five.
JJ:
Far to Birmingham?
Harry:
Around 2 hours so we can arrive at 9 at this next one, after the rush hour and Charles will be there the next day to take over for the rest of your tour, he’s a good pianist so can accompany you onstage replacing Lily and Tina
JJ:
I’m going to get dressed, are you getting up?
Harry:
This pull out in front the TV is excellent and selection of films is awesome on these cable channels, we’re good till at least Sx or Seven this evening, spending time queueing in traffic is not for me
JJ: I've checked the others, they're dead to the world needing their eight hours and more at their age. I’ll shower at the next place so I'm fresh for the night. I see you got the 12 string with you.
Harry:
Yes, it’s beneficial to have one around when a song turns up.
JJ:
Maybe we could go through the song we closed with last night, the travelling train one
Harry:
Needs a good title, I think It’ll never get one though
JJ:
Yep I’m going to throw some clothes so I can sit down
Harry looks up from TV at JJ
Harry:
Ah yes, a very elegant looking long T-shirt making out for enticingly sexy appearance
JJ:
You think so, all cotton so a good feel fresh feeling without underwear
Harry:
You look relaxed.
JJ:
I’m going to slip some underwear on now as I'm not showering this evening, then I’ll sit next you and go through the song that transpired through annals of your life
Harry:
Yep take your time I've got 15 minutes left on this film, gets confusing for one’s head with a film when there is an actress next to you, surreal
JJ: Ex actress, you like some food
Harry:
Oh yes. always, men are always hungry
JJ:
Through my short years of woman hood I am learning this fact. I see you shortly I'm going to clean up my face. Fresh make-up time.
Harry:
Got to look the part
JJ:
Photo time when in public places for the press so yes, keep standards up. Cornwall was so cool to have a break from that routine .
Fifteen minutes later door buzzer sounds Harry gets up to open it tray is rolled by porter in with news papers he leaves, Harry quickly looks at papers and pours himself a coffee. From the next room
JJ:
Is that some coffee and croissants
Harry:
There are some of those for sure, but looks like a mini banquet. Housekeeping must think you're all too thin.
JJ:
I'll be there in a sec, once a girl starts in a bathroom the world is left behind and our goddess instincts take over.
Harry:
Yeah well you made the front page of the Bristol Post and fifth page of the Mirror, thats the hot page for that paper your clothes are normally off to be on it and you have centre pages of the Mail with photographs of you from nine tears years old till now, they must have been writing this all night, and a whole page in the Express
JJ:
Oooh, I’m coming out
Harry: Fame sticks, one thing different about the Brit's, they love comebacks and underdogs
JJ: Wow yes, they wouldn’t have been paid much attention in the States, but we don’t have clubs like Randolph's, there’s a centre spread in the Post of photographs of us, good ones of Lily and Tina
Harry:
Photographers don’t miss much with a long focal lens
JJ:
Sure don’t, ooh JemJ looks good in the Mirror soaked in beer down in the audience she’ll be chuffed, hot Californian girls rock Bristol assisted by Mr Blue and Rocking Randolph
Harry:
That’ll make Randolph's year
JJ:
Jayney Jason, and we all know of her, re-launches her career with her sister and friends with some great new songs from Mr Blue, the audience were silenced by her beauty and natural charisma on the stage and she put over some delightful songs with elegance and style, she still has all her talent and has gone to the next level of entertainment.
Harry:
Thats good, we can come back again here, it's not too far, a good place to get Magic Apple Tree up and going.
JJ:
Awesome with seven girls on stage
Harry:
A complete field day for the press, you'll be photographed may thousand of times
JJ:
There’s Hello Mag too with our Beverly Hills girls on stage
Harry:
Yours exploit's and dark days are already well documented by the worlds press, time for a surprise.
JJ:
Yes too many wild parties
Harry:
I’m going to hit the brunch trolley, ah some champagne after that beer extravaganza with JemJ, hit that and add some orange juice to it, you too.
JJ:
No, too early, save a drink till after the next performance for me, I must stay sharp and bright eyed, no rolling shrunk drunk eyes, it's a good looking bottle.
Harry:
Yes these new cameras miss nothing, tastes good as well, you're going to try some of the food
JJ:
I’ll stick to croissants and jam, I’ll wake the others.
JJ goes to the rooms to wake up the girls then returns to the settee which now has the pull out back in its place. Harry is sitting there with 12 string they go through the traveling song for a while then JemJ enters the room.
JemJ :
I was listening, so many styles for that song, oh trolley of food, thats cool.
Harry:
Hot as well, the warmer on the trolley is plugged in so hit sausages bacon and the not so fluffy eggs .
JemJ:
When are we leaving?
JJ:
Around seven, Sis, check out the news papers.
JemJ:
Ooh were in them, wow, I think that’s more on account of you and Mr Blue here
Harry:
Yes I think I may have been renamed, I'll become the Smurf man next in the papers
JJ:
Could do, we'll have a variety of names for you soon.
JemJ:
This has the makings of a good tour, won’t be anywhere near as good without you .
Harry:
We’ll be up at Inverness, you’re off to a good start and finish on a high with all of us up there
JJ:
Can I have your Tablet for a minute to check my Emails. I've forgotten all about those, normally its the first thing I do in the day.
JemJ:
I wonder what the other 5 thousand in that nightclub do next day, cause we were 5am getting back here
Harry:
Not at lot, well I couldn’t for I lost my super human powers after 25 years old
JJ:
Yep e-mails from all the clubs they’ve sold out now on our performance nights. Press can be good
JemJ:
Ooh more beer soaking as well I hope.
Harry:
Pass that tablet back and I’ll email Randolph to see if he knows anybody to run off stills and embroider some T-Shirts for you with Fizz and your own initials, you can sign those as well.
JemJ:
Try & get some long ones so we can wear them as skirts, no ironing required
JJ:
In a high grade cotton weave for us
Harry:
Ooh Randolph is on messenger, I pass on that one normally, he’s really happy, he didn’t let on before that he had children, I’m asking him and he saying he can manage some stills and maybe some T-shirts for around 5 O’clock so he’ll drop them off and can you sign some for his daughters
JJ:
How many girls
Harry:
Four, they're seven to fifteen
JemJ:
Ooh, lots of mayhem
JJ:
For sure, he must have had crew out with cameras taking photos last night for to get the stills so quick
Harry:
He’s saying now lots of T-shirts for Birmingham and he’s coming along with his two elder daughters, we're starting late again which is good .
JemJ:
Of course it's Friday, so no school tomorrow .
Harry:
He’ll take the 12 string and his guitar along with him he says .
JJ:
We'd better keep on with this traveling train song, make it our finale in the routine
JemJ:
Oooh yes, gonna take me a time to remember all the words though, but lets find a good melody for us two to do, cause your gone after Birmingham
JJ:
Find a printer and do some copies for onstage
JemJ:
On smaller thicker sheets so I can stick them on top of the guitar neck
Harry:
I'll yet you some clips so they stay on.
JJ:
I’m okay with lines of course as I’ve been doing them since six years old.
Further practice of the song whilst eating brunch, after 10 minutes Lily and Tina wake come in also take a plate of food and return to their room for showers. Practice continues. At has 5 O’clock door knocking sounds . Randolph enters with two younger daughters seven and nine years old.
JemJ:
Thanks for a great night and these two are your daughters
Randolph:
Yep the younger ones I have four. They've just finished school and want your autographs on these pictures, here’s two boxes of stills I had run off.
Harry:
That was quick
Randolph:
There’s a professional printing centre here, the crew went down and took over half a dozen machines
JJ:
Oh these are good , that’s the two of us together, so a marker .
Randolph:
Of course .
JJ:
This is for….?
First Daughter:
Me, I'm Annabel
JJ:
Okay, there you are JemJ, your first autograph on a still and you’re…?
Second daughter:
I’m Bethany, I’ve never met a film star before
JJ:
Well fame sure comes back in an instant with the great British Press, love them, there you go JemJ, some stills to sign, it’s starting to happen again, my yellow brick road looks to be re-surfacing.
Bethany:
Mummy says can you sign some T-shirts so she can raffle them for charity prizes.
Harry:
The others are how old who are coming.
Randolph:
Thirteen and fifteen going on twenty one of course, two crew are coming along to escort on the dance floor
Harry: Your wife doesn’t mind,
Randolph:
Oh no, she got the ear ache, they're knowing it's a Friday so they worked her down this morning so they’re now out shopping with mum for clothes for tonight .
Harry:
I take you get the Mirror at home
Randolph:
Oh yes and the Post, I've never made the papers before. So I’m top gossip with the wife to her friends for once.
JJ:
Just a little fame brings back the flame .
Randolph:
Oh yes, much superior to a flashy sports car or a weekend in Paris shopping .
Bethany:
Makes our dad top dog with us too.
Annabel:
Great at school now as we’ve met you.
Lily and Tina enter
Lily:
Hi Randolph, oh, daughters,
Randolph:
Yep, new fans too.
Bethany:
Pleased to meet you, so exciting for us, our sisters are coming up tonight we're too young for nightclubs, we can’t even go in daddies.
Lily: Absolutely correct, it's twenty-one in the states.
Randolph:
Nor have the other two been in the nightclub yet, so it's a real big thing as you can guess. Okay we are off, I’ll take the guitars as you're cramped in your car
JJ:
Is it on parade for us down the front?
Randolph:
Yep, there’s some photographers hanging around, they took ones of me so you're going to get reels of them taken.
Lily:
Time to get into our Beverly Hill’s style
Tina:
These are national papers too, thank goodness our mothers aren’t here, they'd be sending for the hairdressers.
Randolph:
Oh the Mail and Express won’t be able to get enough of you four.
Randolph AND DAUGHTERS LEAVE and the GIRLS GET READY AND PACK , Harry returns to the CABLE TV. THEN THE PORTER COMES FOR THE BAGGAGE AND THEY DOWN TO THE HOTEL FOYER.
Chapter 3 The hotel lobby
JJ:
There they are, the photographers.
Tina:
Do what do we do, ignore them as in LA, but over there they’re just taking photographs of everybody going in an out of restaurants and theatres, but this is different of course
Harry:
Milk it, do some posing and stand in a group for them and they’ll love you for that, British Press are fond of young new talent and this comes with JJ as an addition.
JJ:
Yep good idea, we’ll do as you say Harry, do we look good.
Harry: To me perfect, let them get some fashion shots cause you have the latest gear on, they like that.
JemJ:
Oooh should have worn a shorter skirt with these lovely tights.
Photographers do there shots while the girls pose and the porter and Harry pack the car outside, then they all get in and set off .
JJ:
There were pleasant, liked your clothes girls, impresses people the clothes you wear.
Harry: Especially the Mail and Express,
JemJ:
Oh yes, that was fun, handbag off, coat off, in the car with the door open so my legs we’re on extra view, yes, they're great outfits your mums buy.
Lily:
They excel in buying top fashion, especially stuff for us cause they don’t wear top fashion any more, too young for their image and not glamorous enough for them.
Tina:
You looked good in the boots they picked for us .
JemJ:
Love your boots and they love me .
Harry:
Be interesting who turns up tonight, it's late again, days are turned into nights doing this, thats why I never toured, I liked my daylight hours.
Tina:
You did lights
Harry:
I sure did and some sound, preferred lights, at the start of my life in the real world.Yeah, it's not normal to embark off on a new career at my age which seems to be happening at the moment, back stage to on the stage. Oscar Wilde managed that
JJ:
Lost chances maybe in the past but our gain
Harry:
Oh yes, you do the real work though, let me sit on a beach or boat and write in comfort in beautiful surroundings.
They set off to Birmingham
JemJ:
It’s glum around here.
Harry:
Not known for its beauty, past Manchester you have the Lake District and when you’re getting nearer Manchester there's Wales on the left, which is good.
JJ:
We're just doing Manchester after Birmingham on the way over to the North East. Cardiff offered us a free spot as in open mike so I turned them down and not even free digs or travel. I’m saying that for they’ve now sent me a text offering 5k and a suite at the Hilton
Harry:
You’re going to Scotland too, that has some wow factor as you most likely heard in The States from the Scottish ancestors whose folk originally vacated their country as it had become possessed by overly demanding English lairds I believe.
JJ:
Not so much on my side, the West, lots of different races in the States as it was the last untapped space on the planet.
Harry:
Where we’re going has multiple ethnic groups, we are in England but the populace are from far and wide.
JemJ:
Beer chucking I hope .
Harry:
Friday night revellers, excitable and exuberant in their own environment of their nightclubs.
JJ:
Clubs are a social venue a place to be seen, heard and show off.
Harry:
Those are posh clubs, not this one tonight its dance, drink and mates
JemJ:
Venues, I get it, yes we have them, not like here though, especially last night. These two are now asleep back here, I’m too excited.
JJ:
Hotel again?
Harry:
Tina booked it, another Hilton top notch suite, all the trimmings and Randolph's opposite with his daughters.
JJ:
I didn’t see that, Randolph with daughters.
Harry:
You’ve not seen dads exposed before, yeah he’s pretty much a genuine type of guy just likes some Hors d’oeuvres occasionally.
JemJ:
We girls have our illusions, they don’t often fit the person
JJ:
His desserts must be interesting .
JemJ:
Afternoon delights I think too.
JJ:
This place tonight is more intimate only 3k
Harry:
Bristol was huge, I’ve not actually been in a bigger club in the UK. Munich has some big ones and the Ibiza ones are enormous, up to 18k capacity .
JJ:
You got 3 G on your tablet I saw before.
Harry:
It’s in the glove compartment if you want to use it.
JJ:
Good, thanks. You all right JemJ
JemJ:
Yep, gonna play on an app on the phone
Car journey continues arrives at the nightclub in Birmingham at six o’clock . Hilton car is again outside waiting at the nightclub.
Chapter 4 Birmingham
Harry:
Well, they’ve got the hang of this at the hotel, a car is waiting at the club and a driver for mine.
JemJ:
Not a place to go out shopping unless you’re desperate
Harry stops in front of the club and goes over to the Hilton’s car
Harry:
Hi we're the act here. We’ll get the stuff we want out and you can take my car up to the hotel,
Hilton Driver:
Yes sir
Harry:
Here’s the bag for house keeping, the ironing .
Hilton Driver:
I’ll make sure they deal with it
JJ:
You pass me the keyboards through the window JemJ
Chauffeur:
Here, I’ll give hand.
Harry:
Here’s the bags of gear for the stage.
JJ:
You’ve got the bag for ironing.
Driver:
Yes Miss, the rest or the remaining luggage from the car will be taken up to your rooms
The rest of the girls get out and driver takes Harry's car off to the hotel.
Everybody goes in the nightclub carrying gear via the front entrance chauffeur assisting .
Chapter 5 A Birmingham nightclub
Harry:
You've been here before?
Chauffeur :
I never have.
Harry enters the nightclub
Harry:
Hi , we're the act for the night.
Box office girl:
I’ll get someone, ah he's already here.
Proprietor:
I’m Terence the owner I’ll take you down, the DJ is in the booth to patch you up after plugging up your instruments on stage, to do your sound.
Harry:
Yeah, we won’t be long.
Terence:
Here’s your security passes though I think the door guys will recognise you, one way in, ten ways out all alarmed with comprehensive CCTV coverage
Harry:
So you normally sell out.
Terence:
Fridays there's a thousand house members for this night the rest is door normally, not with you lot for its already sold out and we could have sold it out three times over, easily
Harry:
The Mirror.
Terence:
A beer soaked Californian girl with no bra throwing beer with the caption ‘Following in Sister’s footsteps’, tends to capture attention. Also the internet, you’re all over it, you tube, facebook, twitter, if you're hot and good its instant fame nowadays, you need our rappers?
Harry:
Could be good to open up with.
Terence:
That was well popular on the internet, they're calling it The Plan, I’ll get a studio down to do a proper recording of it live with the crowd, should be magic, a lot of rappers around here, so maybe 20 onstage.
JemJ:
Beer chucking?
Terence:
Not on Fridays but we could make an exception, but girls dress up on Fridays so we would have to organised for you, stage it with a group of clients. I’m sure the Mirror would willingly pay big bucks for the pair of you throwing beer over each other braless
JJ:
I must check my site for downloads, I dropped the rap on to it this morning.
Harry:
There’s the musical version too to get down.
Terence:
I’ll get a band as well if you need assistance for the stage. No shortage of musicians around here, there's an old gym around the back they often use for practice.
Harry:
Handy
Terence:
We store our stuff in their as well but there’s room enough to experiment on laying down a track if needed, there’s a fold back system to use of ours stored in there.
JemJ:
There’s loads of beer as well.
Terence:
No beer in gym.
Harry:
We’ll go and plug up.
Terence:
I’ve got some calling to do
Harry:
We know what to do .
Terence:
Oh the DJ nickname is Dolby after the sound guy, Thomas Dolby, his first name is Thomas.
JJ:
Let’s get the sound functioning, how about Magic Apple Tree for the The Plan
, Harry, get that one on my site
Harry: Could do, that’s for another day. Hi Terence, just get the rappers down to go through the Plan and get that one real smooth plus there’s a new piece of rap.
Terence:
Yep I’ll give them a call
They get organised on stage with the instruments
JJ:
Cool, we're plugged up and laptops are on can we get a line back down from the DJ .
DJ:
Hi I’m Dolby, I'm hearing you, yep I’ve got one going down for playing sound on stage, patches into the amps .
Terence:
There’s not a lot he hasn’t got, thats for dance competitions onstage fold-back from the booth.
Harry:
That works here, Bristol did a grannies night with ballroom dancing, real ones that is not the over forties?
Terence:
The special dance nights work a treat, our official grab a granny night is on a Monday if you’re passing again, we’re thinking of an over the hill night for the over fifties.
Harry:
That’s something to check out here in Birmingham on another visit.
They connect the patch to the DJ booth
JJ:
Sounds appears to be all working .
Dolby:
Good up here, you have specific sound card or only Usb
JJ:
Usb?
Dolby:
I’ll bring a cable down for that, better patch than the stereo socket, there’s some software on the Laptops for that and I'll put your laptops and mikes and guitars in my booth save straying hands from wondering people.
JJ:
We wondered about that last night.
Dolby:
Best to be safe with it in my booth for tonight, and I think the crew there would have locked yours up at Bristol and put them out before you went on.
Harry:
We're done then.
Lily:
Keyboards are good, hotel time.
JJ:
Shower time.
Terence:
You’re off. I’ll Call you when the rappers turn up, or do you want to stay, they'll be here in 30 minutes they often do stuff in the gym.
Chauffeur:
I’m assigned to you all night so I'll just pop back after taking the girls if you wish.
Harry:
Yeah, that's better than onstage before you open.
Terence: Sure thing but you got till at least till 11, maybe 11.30 if that's okay for we'll shift another round of pre show drinks with everybody
Chapter 6 At The Birmingham Hotel, The Girls in Their Room
JemJ:
Ooh, TV’s bigger
JJ:
Everything is, just checked the bathroom. How are you two?
Lily:
Oh, we're going to hit the bathroom and get ready. We have a good sized table in this main room, shall we chill, watch some cable and get a meal sent up.
JJ:
I’m good for that, save getting dressed for diner and we can get changed for the stage.
Lily:
Exactly what I was thinking, hopefully the embroidered shirts will arrive with Randolph before we go on tonight .
JemJ:
You certainly do put a touch a class to all this, embroidered and not printed’
Lily:
We make the machines and our distribution depot for the UK happened to be in Bristol so daddy immediately got one sent and set up at Randolph’s club this afternoon
Tina:
We’re also well over dressed for our age over here in the clubs, we do things differently in the US and dress up way too smart for everything, but we don’t go clubbing yet in the States of course.
JemJ:
Still need to look good, you're Beverly Hill girls after all, well, heiresses.
JJ:
Yeah, they expect something special so don’t disappoint and the clubbers may be dressing up tonight as it's Friday.
Tina:
I’ll phone down and see what food they’ll send up
JJ:
Oh yes we had loads of that trolley before in Bristol so sandwiches and yogurt will do for me, or a smoothie
JJ:
I’ll go for that plus some Hors d’oeuvres or canopies, I always got those on set in a studio,
Tina:
The mini bars have loads in for drinks. I’ll order a bottle of red, for our Harry, the blue man which this Daily Mirror referred to him as, I know most of the good vintages of course. When Clarissa gets here, she’s a real Champagne girl, her great grandmother is known as the Champagne queen in Beverley Hills
Lily:
What do you think he’ll do with the Rappers fro this evening?
JJ:
We’ll wait and see
Chapter 7 The Birmingham Nightclub Rappers have arrived
Rapper:
Yeah we’ll sign this as your song at the bottom that it's your words so we won’t do anything with it.
Harry:
There’s nothing much in this for you tonight except what beers Terence gives you
Terence:
They’re going nowhere and this a free bit of exposure for their talents
Rapper:
No, its fine, beers are good, lets do this, looks good,
The rappers do the lines rehearse the last nights rap and the new rap, then some of their own numbers as Harry looks on.
Chapter 8 Later, back at the hotel room
JJ:
How did it go?
Harry:
They’re rappers so have a different level and view on life so you adjust. They got along with the words.
JemJ:
A starter to kick the show off, capturing the audience to focus on the stage .
Harry:
Yes, their lifestyle makes for rather a dead end street in life so reluctant to do much other than rap.
JJ:
You’re versatile, especially now you've come up with rap, are they any good?
Harry:
Not bad, they have had plenty of practice at it, my rap got a little longer, around 10 more lines, there’s a rap to the train song now I’ve added to tonights repertoire and I added some lines to their own rap about cars, it's Birmingham which is synonymous for cars here as your Detroit is with you , some car shanties would innovative in this are.
JemJ:
You’ve lost us there .
Harry:
Well you have sea shanties, so why not some car shanties and rap them .
Lily:
So you're not touching the song, Plan for The Planet, just the rap number.
JemJ:
I’ve got some real funky guitar for that if we ever do it.
Harry:
I expect you have, lends itself to wild music and drums. I see a bottle of red on the table.
Tina:
There’s food coming as we're not dining tonight for the rooms are a lot bigger here, there’s a huge cinema sized TV on the wall
Harry:
Good, food to the room, let me slug some red down after those rappers, I’m not really on their wavelength, their rap is good though
Tina:
It’s all yours, none of us do red, we are going to try beer later after the performance on JemJ's instance, English cask beer.
Harry:
First beer I ever had tasted pretty awful, so don’t expect too much
Chapter 9 The Birmingham Nightclub
JemJ:
Busy here, loads of people outside.
Chauffeur:
All of you just stay in the car, I’ll see who can come out to us. I’ll phone first,
The chauffeur phones and receives instructions
JJ:
We're good
Chauffeur:
They’re coming out, there’s around 1500 milling around waiting for you to turn up, so I’ll drive around the block and go to the bottom exit and we’ll be let in
JemJ:
Exciting.
Chauffeur:
It’s a ruse, the doorman come out to attract attention that you are coming in the front and we slip you in down the side.
Harry:
Cool I’ll get out now and walk straight in, there’s no interest in me. See you shortly.
JJ:
Oh I see, he’s seen Randolph and those must be his girls, I wonder why he didn’t go to the hotel.
Tina:
Yeah, he’s gone straight over to him.
Chauffeur:
There’s my cue on the phone to take you around and here comes all the doorman out to the front. We’re off.
Tina:
Yep there's the door open at the end with the proprietor outside .
Chauffeur:
Here we are, you get in there quick.
Terence:
You girls good, hectic here for once, there’s a chill room at the side of the stage.
JJ:
I’m not used to the rock & roll music industry .
Terence:
You’re not one of our normal attractions either, a USA sister duet with a couple support players who are heiresses are attracting a lot of curiosity especially as the you’re an Ex film starlet and also an Ex Hollywood teen princess which we now realise has a good voice putting over new songs, not covers. The new rap number is also attracting attention from last night
JemJ:
Great songs to do .
Terence:
We're knowing this, you and your Sister do them well, captivated people , Mr Blue wrote them, your Harry apparently.
JemJ:
Oh yes, he’s good with songs for us
Terence
Here’s the room, theatrical known as a green room, we call it the chill room and two doorman to go with it as we now classify you as precious goods. I’m going to reset the alarm on that exit. Where is The Blue Man?
JemJ:
Oh he got out the front, he saw Randolph with his daughters.
Terence:
Really, Randolph’s here, I better go to the front to get see him, we're old buddies and your Blue Man of course
Chapter 10 At the front of the nightclub
Harry:
Hi there, he’s with me and here’s my pass from Terence and there his two crew and daughters.
Randolph:
Also the support band hence the guitars.
Doorman:
I’ll just radio, yep, you’re expected, yes you can come in too of course, long time no see Mr Wright, I see the girls have grown.
Randolph’s Daughters:
We’re trying to look old but maybe not for you .
Doorman:
I’ve been here 10 years and I know your daddy from way back, in you go.
Harry:
Let’s go the bar, its heaving in here, this lot are dressed up for tonight
Randolph:
I wonder who he is besides a doorman, he must have worked for me in Bristol.
Harry:
I think we're rather conspicuous here with two overly dressed teenage girls and a couple of your heavies carrying guitars resembling a back up band.
Randolph:
Who cares, lets get a pint
Harry:
Yep, going to slip a pint down before starting, people are now leaving to get a good position at the front
Barman:
Drinks gents
Randolph:
Four beers and.........
Randolph’s daughters:
Can we have bitter lemon and orange juice mixed
Barman:
Coming straight up.
Harry:
Long time since I heard that combination.
Randolph:
It’s a favourite at their grandmothers when they go visiting .
Harry:
T shirts?
Randolph’s Daughters:
We have some in this carrier and loads in the car .
Harry:
Oh right, you got xxxl in there. I’ll put one on
Randolph’s Daughters:
Yep here you go Harry one right at the top for you, dad said you would want to put one on, mum got him a new shirt to wear so he cant .
Harry:
Great shirt Randolph, almost gold in colour, yes deep gold brick colour and a deep blue satin tie .
Randolph’s Daughters:
Here you go, they’re good ones.
Harry:
Excellent, I'll just go to the gents slip it on and really give the game away.
Harry slips off to the Gents and slips on T-shirt with Fizz on it in deep glittery blue thread and returns
Randolph:
That worked, how to empty a bar in fifteen seconds, put a T-shirt on, means they're here, obvious a roady stroke band looking person
Harry:
Used to be. I think we’d better follow them as I’m kicking off, the beer is good here but duty calls for the three thousand plus that have turned up.
Randolph:
Hello Terence we're just moving on up.
Terence:
Good to see you again, It must be a couple of years and with some of your girls .
Randolph’s daughters:
We’re very excited.
Terence:
Yes we're getting that way too. Let’s all go, this lot are really tame tonight so no maniac hecklers I hope .
Randolph:
They were good last night considering how drunk some were .
They leave to the club auditorium
Harry:
We’re already almost half way down the club, they’re letting us through easily, you give me the 12 string mister big man please. Give me the electric too.
Randolph’s crew:
There you go Harry
Terence:
Yes and there you go on up onstage. We’ll go around to the other side and watch
Randolph:
I’ll come on at the end like last night.
Harry goes on to stage carrying both guitars, audience looks on taking no apparent notice. He plugs up and switches on mikes.
Harry:
Good evening
Audience boos and heckles:
We want the girls.
Harry:
They're here, do want some rappers first, not sure they're here
Rappers:
We're here ,
As they walk across the stage from the other side of the stage.
Harry (mike):
Do you want some rap, I did this one last night at Bristol they liked it but it was half price beer night so most were pissed.
Audience more jeers and shouts of get on with it,
Harry (mike):
Okay, you got a new song in rap as well as last nights smoothed off tonight by some of your Birmingham rappers here.
Audience cheers.
Harry (mike):
First one is plan for the planet, we are not doing the song version till we have the new band set up and rocking, so I play this in with a few chords and the guys can take over.
Rap version of plan for the planet from last night ensues.
Audience listens intently and applauds. The girls appear at the side of the stage looking across.
Harry:
Okay you seem to get right down into that one, this one as I pass the words to the guys here is a favourite of JJ's, she sung it well in a practice this afternoon, this is the rap of traveling train, done today.
Girls wave from the side of the stage and audience breaks into cheers as they see them.
Harry (mike): You lot good
Audience:
Aye, do it man
Rappers (mike):
We good........ Harry lets go.
Harry:
Okay , one , and two ,and a one two three
The rappers start.
Going through the night, the window rattles as the train rushes on, feeling kind of speedy as we sway through the night, not feeling good on this track , we're still on the rails, not sure whose , we going up the track god knows where , we're just going to disappear in the black of the night , the train speeds on the window rattles, dark outside could be the jungle , could be the city what’s the difference we can’t be seen and nobody wants to see us. Right track wrong tack who gives a damn , nothing much there when we get there, just fade away into crowds that fade into the sound and surrounding streets in the northern city of unhappy souls with little good thoughts or hope in their life, go back south blasts our thoughts and touch to the rattling glass to feel our journey as we get so far away, soon to fade in a city of matchstick men scurrying around in everyday life lost in the backdrop , fallen sorrows and lost expectations are related and reflected in the ever changing images of each emerging day, fading in as daylight breaks the night . But now all is black , in the black of the night and a new backcloth of sorts will appear out of the dark, time for new thoughts for next days parade, however frail or jolly to get us back again to the dark of the night so we can disappear on our journey to a final destination of dreams and aspirations, go back go back calls out to the mind again maybe those are her thoughts swaying with the train. How do you know what’s the right thing to do, everybody’s telling us what to do, so we don’t know what to do, do or don’t , decision time ain’t good, cause for sure, half of the time, someone’s wrong.
Rappers finish. Crowd applaud. Girls walk on stage waving. Rappers wave at the crowd and leave .
Harry (mike):
I’ll leave you to Fizz now
JJ. (mike):
Hi everybody, that was very good from our Mr Blue as Bristol named him or Harry to us. That was really clever, you’ll hear the song Travelling Train at the end with our Harry, Mr Blue back on.
JemJ (mike):
Hi I’m JemJ , my sister you just heard and our friends or neighbours in the states from Beverly Hills are here with us, Tina and Lily on keyboards
JJ. (mike):
My Sisters doing well only third night out on stage and she’s stepping in to help with the introductions. She loves beer chucking, a new thing last night .
JemJ (mike):
Yep sure fun, and sticky.
JJ.(mike):
Okay lets go, Devil may Cry Suzie quattro, a one, a two, a one two three,
The four girls do 5 covers and 3 new songs written by Harry,
Then Harry and Randolph come on for the last number the travelling train, which JemJ practised earlier in the hotel.
Randolph:
She’s starting to take over the songs now, getting her stamp and style on them, there liking it this Train Song again
Harry:
Good, gets us out of assisting with the vocals hopefully
Randolph:
Still getting my little guitar solo in before the last chorus .
Harry:
She knows that, cause here they are coming over here for the end, go for it.
Randolph does his solo, girls sing last chorus with Harry and Randolph, whilst Randolph daughters are allowed on stage to film dad playing with their cell phones.
Harry: Think you earned a whole year dad’s points tonight from these two.
Randolph: Oh yes I forget about that angle, angels for a year though I think not, but my ratings are on a definite up at home
JJ:
I thinks that’s it for here, we went down well.
JemJ:
Yep lets go, it's after well after midnight, Tina and Lily are the same we could all do with a few extra hours sleep after 5 am this morning or now yesterday
Tina:
Yeah we’ll get the gear ready to go, we’ll packed up in five minutes.
Randolph’s Daughters:
We’ll give you a hand carrying, that was really super, loads of people here, totally packed.
Harry:
Your dad’s place is almost twice size, last night was awesome.
Everybody packs up, load both cars Randolph's and the Hotels at the back then drive to hotel.
Chapter 11 The hotel
Harry:
Hotels, home for the night, you see why I never wished to go touring.
Lily:
Totally, a week of this and it would really start to suck and we're in the top suites and looking around there’s not a lot to the place comparable to US ones, comfortable but not sumptuous.
JemJ:
We got 12 or so more days and the jobs done.
Harry:
I’ve got the recording of the night from Terence on a stick, you can pop it on the website JJ and see what happens.
JJ:
I’m dead almost, I didn’t realise how stressful this could be, bed beckons it's 2am, I need at least 8 hours. I'll pop it on in the morning
Randolph:
Mine are already fast asleep, look prod them and nothing happens, if I take the bigger one can you take the smaller one .
Chauffeur:
Sir I’ll take one.
Harry:
Cool, can the gear stay in the car.
Chauffeur:
Oh yes the car is going into the hotel garage now, am I taking them to Manchester?
Harry:
There you go JemJ cosseted already. No, there’s somebody coming down.
Chauffeur:
We're at their disposal, any problem and we will be wherever in a flash.
JJ:
A couple of good nights and I'm propelled back to stardom and old friends, love it
Randolph:
It’s this Fame thing, can’t beat it, my wife has just sent a text, I’m on you tube doing my solo here, that was quick.
Harry:
I take it she hardly ever texts, especially at 2 in the morning.
Randolph:
Oh no, bar this morning about these two here, so twice in 24 hours, normally never. Let's go in.
Chapter 12 Midday at the hotel
Harry Lily and Tina have departed back to Cornwall and Randolph to Bristol.
JemJ:
Ooh alone, already missing them.
JJ:
I know 6 days and so much has happened, I’ve updated the website, we have loads saying hi, people I haven’t heard of in up to ten years.
JemJ:
Agents?
JJ:
Strangely no, most likely not wishing to hear my rhetorical comments about them
JemJ:
Well, you're not needing them, a clean break for you.
JJ:
Lucky break, very lucky, here’s a text from this guy Harry knows, James , be with you in 20 minutes, that’s good.
JemJ:
Going to be funny tonight without them.
JJ:
Smaller places to do, 1500 capacity for the next three nights, but there’s a possible addition in London that’s large, Harry mentioned it, they could fly from Newquay to London .
JemJ:
See how the two of us get along, we were rather spoilt before. I hope there’s beer in Manchester.
JJ:
Yes I think so, the young seem to like beer, and we're not used to 18 year old’s out in the clubs, I’m not at least, you’re just 21 so a really younger audience than expected
JemJ:
They sure like getting wild here.
They get there things together and go down to the hotel lobby, the performing gear has been left at reception.
JJ:
Just checking it’s all here.
JemJ:
I’d prefer if it wasn’t, they’d would have to come back. What’s this guy like?
JJ:
Very tall, that’s all I know.
JemJ:
That’s means he’ll have a large car
JJ:
Most likely.
JemJ:
A few photographers are around outside
JJ:
Good to be popular, the Sunday papers maybe interesting, another brush of the hair I think, get my flick back from my face organised for the camera shots
JemJ:
Yep, look the business, ooh I think that long pink car is ours
JJ:
Yep you love pink too, it's got Fizz plastered all over it so it ours .
JemJ:
Somebody’s
