About this ebook

Niall
I am the lead singer for one of music's most popular rock bands. We just found out that we are up for several awards for our latest album. We also get to headline our own tour. My new house just finished construction. I should be happy with my life. I have watched two of my band brothers find their fated mate. To say I am envious of what they have is an understatement. Thoughts of spending the next several hundred years alone sets my teeth on edge.

Calliopy
Being the lead singer for an all-female rock group is not an easy job. Tensions start to run even higher when we get booked to be the opening act for Perpetual Fantasy on their upcoming tour. Oh, did I mention we are also up for two music awards? One of which we are head-to-head against our headliner. I have heard those guys can be nice as can be, but also the biggest alpha-holes in town. This is what we have dreamed of and worked so hard for. Why do I feel like this is going to end our music careers before they even get started?

Not appropriate for those under 18, contains sexual situations and language. Can be read as a standalone but would be better enjoyed if read in order.

    Chapter 1

    Niall

It’s Grammy night.  We have been waiting months for this.  The band members, along with Sofia, Harlyn, and Fedryck are in the limousine, waiting for our turn on the red carpet.  I don’t regret us writing ‘Phoebe’s Song’ but it was never meant to be released.  Being our only ballad, it has given us a broader audience and our sales exploded.  We are up for five awards tonight, and will be performing.

I am glad that we had a little bit of a hiatus to decompress after the last tour.  We recorded our third album as soon as the tour was over.  Wicked Lady, our upcoming tour mates, were busy trying to finish their follow-up album.  While they are a rock band, their sound is a little softer than ours is.  They also only have five members to our six.  Even having rehearsals for tonight, the bands have yet to meet.

I can tell we are getting closer to the building and the crowd as the volume is steadily increasing.  Both Sofia and Harlyn are dressed to the nines.  Sofia is in a strapless dress, in black and a light brownish color that is tight until her knees. From there is has lace, to the floor with black flowers all over it.  When she moves it sparkles.  Harlyn has a similar strapless top to her dress, with a full skirt.  The top layer of her dress is a black lace with sparkles and some flowers that match the top.  They both look very nice.  When one of the hair and makeup people that showed up turned out to be a guy Tanner and Zayn turned into instant assholes.  I guess I can’t blame them. The two of them sat in the room the entire time the girls were getting made up.

It is finally our turn to walk the red carpet.  The door to the limo opens, Uncle Fed getting out first.  He is followed by Austin, Stone, and Lorenzo.  Zayn gets out next, helping Harlyn.  Tanner steps out, helping Sofia, and I bring up the rear.  The noise is deafening.  The girls stay with Uncle Fed as the band goes to sign autographs and take pictures.  I can feel my phone vibrating in my pocket.  As we continue to make our way down the red carpet, toward the theater entrance, I surreptitiously pull my phone out.

Maddie:  You guys all look great.  Would it have killed you to wear tuxedos?

Me:  Look around, no one is in a full tuxedo. We are rock stars, not actors.

Each of us split into pairs, for media interviews.  We get asked the same questions over and over, none of them coming up with anything original.  We all join up again when we get into the lobby of the theater.  Uncle Fed and the girls are standing at a high-top table, with several drinks in front of them.  As soon as we reach them, they start handing out glasses.

As more bands enter, we say hello and shake hands.  The crowd is even louder, right now, than they were for us.

    Spotted Leopard must be here.

I think you are right Lorenzo.

We continue to mingle with other artists, making small talk about tours, records, and general industry items.  I catch movement out of the corner of my eye and I see the guys from Spotted Leopard walk through the door.  They spot us and start making their way over.

Gentlemen…Ladies, you are looking ravishing this evening.

Finien quit flirting. Zayn growls at the man, while pulling Harlyn into his side.

The lights dim and get brighter several times.  That is our cue to start making our way inside. We all toss down the rest of our drinks and head toward the ushers.  They verify who we are and lead us down toward the front, right in front of the stage.  Spotted Leopard is in the first row.  Perpetual Fantasy is in the second row.  Wicked Lady will be seated behind us.  They are the opening performance tonight.  It will be nice to be able to watch them perform from an audience perspective. Perpetual Fantasy doesn’t play until almost the very end of the show.

The theater lights dim.  Some actor is the host for tonight.  They have some house music play in the background as he walks out to center stage.  He goes through his monologue, telling some bad jokes about a bunch of the nominees.  I see a camera facing toward us, so I paste on a phony smile.  After what seems like forever, I hear him introduce Wicked Lady.  I sit up in my seat a little straighter, as the music starts.  Each of the girls are dressed in next to nothing, from what I can tell around their instruments.  After a couple of beats the lead singer struts onto the stage.  My jaw almost comes unhinged before I snap it shut and grind my teeth, muttering under my breath.

    Motherfucker!

I get a sharp elbow to the ribs, on both sides.  I guess I wasn’t quiet enough.  Finien and Kennedy both shoot me a look over their shoulders.  Of course, Finien has to take it a step further, wearing a cocky smirk on his face.

    Troubles mate??

    Precisely.

    Huh?

    That’s my mate!

I can see the members of Spotted Leopard trying to hold in their laughter.  Several of them have shoulders shaking.  Uncle Fed clears his throat to get our attention.  They still haven’t found a road manager for Spotted Leopard, but Fed is ours.  I continue to stare daggers at the woman on stage.

    Chapter 2

    Calliopy

We got to the theater early, to avoid the crowds.  I wanted one last rehearsal before anyone showed up.  I am nervous.  This is our first award show.  Not only are we nominated, but we are also performing, opening the show to boot.  We each have our gowns to change into after our performance.  Our song is a burlesque style.  As such, we are
