DJ Vadim The Soundcatcher
DJ Vad is a man who likes to get about. In fact, his Twitter location is currently set to “Everywhere”. But, when he traverses the globe he’s not picking up postcards and wicker donkeys as mementos. He’s bringing back the MCs, vocalists and musicians he finds along the way.
“I meet people from all over,” says the prolific producer. ”The amazing thing with making music is the touring. Most of the people that I’ve ever worked with I’ve met on the road – especially when it comes to this project.”
The roster of talent he formed around him for this, his sixth album, The Soundcatcher, has bases everywhere from Milwaukee to Manchester, giving it an international flavour, matched in his beatmaking, which takes on a broader palette of global sounds than ever before.
“When I started I was just a guy in a bedroom, sampling,” he says. “And with time I opened myself up to a lot more musical influences. Earlier stuff was just straight up chopping soul records, with the classic hip-hop inspirations and vinyl crates.
