About this ebook

Imagined Partner – Or Not contains short stories of women who enjoy an intimate experience - with or without a partner who isn’t physically there. These women could be young or old, poor or middle class, pretty or plain, a coworker, a relative, or a stranger in a car. Their experience may be sparked by a memory, their imagination, or . . . is it something else? Could any of these be your story?

A peek inside:

. . . she takes a break to slowly drink some more while she eats a snack and tries to cool down some outside in the shade. She happens to see her reflection in a tinted window and chuckles at the absurdity that some guy could think she is sexually attractive with her dirt and sweat streaked hair and face and with her pants and shirt almost dripping with sweat. She’s surprised her mind actually considers that and her thoughts go off onto a tangent of wondering what kind of guy might not mind seeing her look like she does. She tells herself, “Yeah, right, like that will ever happen.”

She’s even more surprised when her mind suggests, “You’re right, what do you need a guy for?”

As she turns back to her reflection, she tells herself, “Well, it’s kind of hard to have sex without a guy and don’t tell me I can look for a woman because they may express some pity towards me, but none of the women I’ve met have much interest in getting to know me as a person.”

Her mind tells her, “Why bother with either? You’ve given yourself pleasure before, but how long has it been?”

She sighs then answers, “Too long. But it’s not easy to get in the mood after a long day at a lousy job and then being reminded of how alone I am on the weekends.”

“I understand. Why don’t you step back into the house where no one will bother you then you can start to think about how good it would feel to experience some pleasure.”

Even as she walks into the house, she asks herself, “While I look like this?”

“Are you going to let society dictate how you have to look in order to enjoy some pleasure? Yeah, there are some factors which seem to be hard wired into people to get them to more easily respond in a sexually interested manner. However, a lot more of what society proclaims as preliminaries to a sexual encounter such as getting dressed up and going out to be wined and dined and danced off your feet aren’t requirements if you don’t let them be. People have been having sexual encounters long before there were evening gowns, restaurants, and dance halls. I won’t claim all of those sexual encounters were pleasurable, but then you’ve heard of enough situations where the sexual encounter wasn’t all that pleasurable even after the ‘socially approved’ preliminaries have been accomplished.”

“That’s true.” She pauses then says, “But it would be nice to be treated special some time. Even to pretend as though I was somebody’s precious princess.”

Her mind reminds her, “And what happens the day after when you have to return to reality? If you let someone else’s actions towards you dictate how you feel, you’re letting them control you and I know you don’t want that.”

“Isn’t there some middle ground?”

“I’m sure there is, but until you can find another person who truly cares about you and wants to support and encourage you without controlling you and who you can trust enough to have a relationship with so you don’t feel as though you have to control them, then you need to look inside of yourself to feel special.”

Now it’s her turn to remind her mind, “That’s easier said than done.”

“I’m well aware of that, but you are special. Do you know anybody who is just like you?”

“No.”

Her mind interrupts her before she can say more, “Then that makes you unique and if you’re unique, that means you’re special, even if nobody else can recognize it. A lot of now famous creative people died in obscurity and it was only years later before they were recognized by other people as being someone s

    Wendy’s Story

If that manager comes back one more time and wants to change his mind again about what the program is supposed to do, she’s going to break her keyboard over his head. It’s already been a dozen changes this week and the majority of the changes he wants would be more appropriate to incorporate into the report generator instead of into the base program itself. But her boss keeps telling her to give the manager what he wants because he has a higher title than her boss does. She has to wonder if she accidently ended up in the military where rank is everything instead of being in a business which is supposed to focus on efficiency and planning and doing something right the first time. It’s just another hour and she can escape the madness, at least for a couple of days.

When the hour is up, she shuts her computer down, gathers up her things, and leaves her cubicle. She’s tempted to leave by a different door, but as an experiment, she walks right past that manager who either doesn’t notice her or recognize her. When he looks into her cubicle, he’s surprised no one is there then he looks around and he still doesn’t see her which only confirms her impression that he doesn’t see her as a person, but simply as a tool and one which he obviously doesn’t know how to use properly. Well, that’s nothing new as most people do their best not to notice her except when they want her to do something for them.

A few people do recognize the value of what she can do for them and they seem to sincerely thank her, but they won’t recognize her as a person to interact socially with. After a lifetime of being rejected, she probably wouldn’t believe a person was sincere if they did try to engage her in even the lightest social interaction. And if they tried to be sincere, it’s unlikely that whatever social involvement they suggested would be of interest to her.

She shakes her head in almost disbelief as she again realizes that the attitudes of other people haven’t changed, just the words they use have been softened or are simply not stated. The comments she endured in high school about having to put a bag over her entire body instead of just over her head before a guy would want to rape her or that they ought to just leave her for a dog were quite painful, but, in a way, they were more honest than the guys who walk right past her now as though she doesn’t exist. It’s interesting that many of the females don’t treat her any better, yet she’s certainly no threat to them in their attempts to attract a male.

She doesn’t have to wait long for the bus to arrive and a few minutes later, she gets off at her stop and as she walks the block to her small apartment, she wonders what it would be like to be in a relationship with someone who might actually care about her as a person. Rather than making her feel more depressed as such a thought usually does, she chuckles at the absurdity of something like that ever happening to her. She rewarms the leftovers from one of her simple meals and as she eats it, she’s somewhat surprised that her thoughts or imagination actually keep coming back to the idea of what it might be like to be in an affectionate relationship. After her meal dishes are cleaned up, she sits on her chair in front of the television.

Instead of reaching for the remote control, she decides to experiment and see where her imagination might take her so she sits back, somewhat relaxes, closes her eyes, and looks forward to having a good laugh at the absurdity of her imagination trying to come up with something positive considering her past lack of experiences. At the same time, a small part of her hopes she doesn’t end up wanting to puke her guts out in the process. She waits for awhile and is about to give up on her experiment when she starts to feel a little tingle of interest or anticipation. Since she has no experiences, at least positive ones, to base any expectations on, she’s not sure she would recognize an applicable feeling or be able to describe it even if she did recognize it.

After a while, she guesses that what she feels would be similar to seeing a good friend in the distance before her friend sees her. Then it’s as though the good friend sees her, smiles, waves, and hurries towards her as she feels something like interest or anticipation or a little excitement as though she responds to her friend and adds her own momentum to close the distance and they snugly hug. She’s astounded at how real the hug feels and resists the temptation to open her eyes and break the spell or hallucination or whatever she’s experiencing because she doesn’t remember when she ever had such a warm caring hug. The hug goes on much longer than she would have even allowed herself to hug someone in public, but it’s such a wonderful hug she doesn’t want to let go.

They barely separate from the hug and her friend gives her such a warm smile, she feels like she wants to melt, yet at the same time she feels like she wants to respond to the smile with a kiss which almost shocks her out of her fantasy. The spell isn’t broken, but she does step back to analyze it a little and is astounded to realize that in spite of the extreme detail her imagination is providing her while she seems to actually feel another person and their hug, her imagination is surprising fuzzy about the identity of her friend to where she can’t even decide whether they’re supposed to be male or female. Although she’s never made friends with anyone of either gender, she’s surprised that based on her upbringing, her imagination can suggest that the gender of her caring friend doesn’t matter as long as they sincerely care about her.

Once that surprising revelation is out in the open, she’s surprised again to recognize the front door of her apartment in her imagination as she steps in with her friend as though they’ve done it many times before. They make sure the door is closed and locked, turn towards each other, warmly smile, and softly kiss. Even as a part of her mind is astounded at the idea, much less the action, another part of her mind eagerly participates. As one kiss becomes several while she and her friend hold each other as tightly as they can, she feels as though she gives her rational mind a vacation and sinks into her imagination as fully as she can.

As the kisses become more intense, she’s not sure whether it’s a need or a want or called something else, but it seems right for her friend and her to start taking each other’s clothes off. As each article of clothing either falls down or is tossed aside, more skin is available to touch and she’s surprised at how nice it feels to be caressed and to caress someone else’s bare skin. A brief coherent thought tries to remind herself that it’s all in her imagination, but it feels too nice to worry about that. After many more kisses and caresses are thoroughly enjoyed, she briefly panics at feeling her pants being unfastened, but she quickly calms down as she reminds herself that this is her trusted friend who is touching her and not some stranger who is trying to take advantage of her, even if it is an imaginary friend.

Her eyes pop open in surprise then she quickly closes them so reality won’t dispel the wonderful feeling of her friend kissing her down her chest and briefly kisses each of her breasts then continues to kiss her down her body as she feels her pants being lowered down her legs along with her panty! She’s guided to step back out of the last of the clothes she was wearing then she’s guided back to sit in her chair and in her mind’s eye, she sees her friend kneel down in front of her and lean over to start kissing her thighs . . . and she can feel the kisses!! Without a clue of what to expect, she can feel herself become more excited and is surprised to feel herself slouch in her chair and spread her legs wider to make it easier for her friend’s kisses to move up the insides of her legs.

Then the kisses arrive at her pubic area and even in her imagination, her eyes can’t stay open to see what’s being done to her to cause such wonderful feelings to pour into her. Slowly, the pleasure (and that’s an inadequate word to describe what she’s feeling) begins to dissipate a little then she feels the kisses moving upwards across her waist. As the kisses move further up her body, she’s almost shocked to become aware that her breasts feel like they want to be touched more. She’s still trying to even consider the idea when the kisses are there and her breasts seem to revel in the enjoyment of being touched. A moment later, she’s nearly shocked again at realizing that she’s deeply moaning in response to the feelings which seem to overflow her.

As the kisses resume their movement up her body, she feels a little disappointed that the kisses didn’t stay on her breasts or even better, go back down to her pubic area. Then she notices that what feels like caressing hands are nearing her pubic area which quickly builds her anticipation for more enjoyment. Even as
