Into Outer Space: Again?
()
About this ebook
Ancient documents are discovered and when they are translated, the scholars are astounded that the documents record an apparent previous attempt by humans to colonize a planet in another solar system. They prepare a report which explains what happened to those earlier colonizers and forward it to the appropriate authorities and wonder what the consequences of a future attempt might be.
A peek inside:
The following is a compilation of official reports and personal logs which have recently been translated. Please note that there are substantial differences of opinions on the part of those scholars who might claim any acquaintance with the ancient language and some of them are positive that the following compilation is simply a modern fantasy with no correlation to what the documents in the original language could possibly mean. Those of us who worked on this compilation are too aware that the reports and logs which are available are not always complete (indeed, some are little more than fragments) and that some extrapolation on the part of the compilers was necessary in order to make the following understandable without significantly altering (we hope) the meaning. With those caveats in place, the following is presented for your review and consideration.

The Translated Compilation Begins
Background
After decades of disappointment as the far-ranging probes sent back reports of no success in finding a planet which met the programmed criteria of a planet where humans might be able to live, the information from one probe seemed to have some possibilities. The scientists eagerly reviewed the incoming information and when someone decided that an appropriate level of positive information was received, they sent the long awaited confirmation up the chain of command. Of course, those who were in power at the time were rather skeptical that anything positive could be received after so many years and since they’re used to instantaneous communication, they simply could not
