About this ebook

Having grown up in the church, and then as a seminary student, I have been bothered by the differences between what I read in the Scriptures and what the Churches teach and practice. As hard as I tried I couldn't reconcile the two. Studying God's word alone shows me clearly that the Church has drifted off it's Scriptural foundation and has itself firmly anchored in human and church traditions. When you read this book you will see how those that are following the churches teachings are not any more ready for Judgment Day than the Church of Laodicea.
God will harshly judge the church, for most of Christianity is not at all ready for Judgment Day - though they think they are.
This book will take you our of your comfort zone, but it will prepare you for Jesus' Second Coming and Judgment Day.

    THE PREFACE

It is my understanding that the Bible is God’s word, and its authority supersedes all other authority, including religious instruction, doctrines, creeds, traditions, and teachings.  Therefore all ‘truth seekers’ must be willing to honestly compare what their church teaches to what the Bible alone teaches.  If you are not willing to do that, perhaps this book is not for you.  If you are willing, be prepared to be surprised and amazed.

We all grow up believing what we were taught as children is the absolute truth, but if we keep studying the Holy Scriptures, sometimes we learn that it is not, and if that is the case, you must be willing to set aside what’s in conflict with the Holy Scriptures.

Although some people will be offended by what they read in this book, please note that it is not my intentions of offend anyone.  But I know that religion can be a personal thing for many people, and, I have no doubt that what I have to say will go against most people’s personal beliefs.  And I’m sorry if what I say offends you, my only intent is to share what I have learned in decades of Bible study so that others may be snatched from the jaws of eternal death.

    THE INTRODUCTION

Over the centuries the original Christian faith changed, and the Christian faith we practice is no longer the same faith that Jesus taught and practiced and was passed on to the apostolic church. The faith has mutated and changed by the injection of human inventions, human traditions, human decrees and doctrines.

Jesus was a Bible believing Jew and we must understand him and his teachings in that context.  Jesus referred to the Scriptures as the Word of God and would not tolerate any Jewish tradition or oral law that leavened the pure word. Yet today the teachings of the churches have strayed far from what Jesus taught and preached.  In some cases the orthodox or commonly accepted Christian faith, doctrines and creeds negates God’s word and in other cases it changes God’s word.

Through this series of books, I will share with you truths that have been set aside, often in favor of church creeds, doctrines and traditions.

In this book I will examine the Scriptures to see if the church is ready for the Second Coming of Jesus, or perhaps more important to us individually, are we ourselves ready?  We mostly believe that we are ready, but is that understanding based on the church’s doctrines and teachings, or does our understanding square with the Scriptures?  This is an issue we can’t afford to get wrong.  I will draw on many scriptures from the New and Old Testaments.  By the time you are done with this book, the answer to that question will be obvious.

I pray that God will be your Teacher and your Guide as you study the material in this book.  I pray that you will not just informed, but that you and your relationship with God will be transformed by what you read.

    Blessings as you study.

    JESUS’ SECOND COMING?

SOON COMING OF JESUS? NO, NO PLEASE WAIT

I hear it in the churches, through their singing, through their preaching, in their prayers, and their conversations, that they are so anxious for Jesus to return. I read on the Internet that there are 1,445 songs about Jesus’ return.  With great hope they call the soon event 'the soon return of Jesus'.  They pray for it and work towards making it happen sooner.  The Church looks to find ways to make it happen sooner, such as through evangelism, and eagerly anticipate apocalyptic events. They are searching the scriptures and the newspapers for events which are evidence, or signs of Jesus’ second coming. The churches' true goal and purpose could be defined as to prepare its people for Jesus’ soon coming, his return, an event they anticipate with great joy.  And, indeed, signs of his return are pointed out by teachers and preachers as they look for signs in the sun, moon and stars, the rebirth of Israel, and other national and international events.  I’m not questioning those signs – some are real and I agree that his return is not far away.

Why are Christians so anxious for Jesus to return? Why do they anticipate the event with great joy and excitement?  It’s because they know that when he comes again he will punish the wicked and justice was executed on behalf of the persecuted righteous, and they, being righteous, will receive their rewards – everlasting life in paradise.

At Jesus’ return the righteous will receive their rewards including the gift of eternal life and they will be ushered into an everlasting kingdom where Jesus will rule them as king and there will be no more tears, sorrow, pain or death. The lion will lay down with the lamb, and there will no more wars. The God’s Kingdom will be paradise.  What a glorious event we have to look forward to.  So who doesn’t want that, sign me up.  But, unfortunately, ‘many’ will be found not fit for God’s kingdom will receive everlasting destruction. (As the Bible puts it, the ‘many’ on the Broad easy way).

The Second coming is not a New Testament invention, it has its roots in the Old Testament. It is defined in the Old Testament and the Day of the LORD.  In the Old Testament we find the ‘Day of the LORD’ with several different names, e.g., Day of YAHOVEH, Day of Terror and Distress, a Day of Destruction and Desolation, a Day of Darkness and Gloom, a Day of Clouds and Thick Darkness, a Day of Trumpet and Battle Cry, a Day of Wrath, the Day of Visitation, Fearful Day, Judgment Day, the Great and Terrible Day of YAHOVEH, the Time of Jacob’s Trouble, Time of Restoration and this day is also the day of the Second coming of Jesus.  When Yahoveh God comes in the clouds, Jesus will also be coming at the right hand of Yahoveh to judge the living and dead.  Mark 14:62, "And Jesus said, I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.

Revelation 22:12, "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work."
