    Why is Breakfast So Important?

    Whenever I could, I always slept until noon. This lasted throughout my childhood, teen years, and all through college. I had no interest in breakfast. Absolutely none at all. I wanted to sleep! In fact, I avoided eating breakfast. Whenever my mother made breakfast I would lie and tell her that it made me throw up on the way to school.

    In many ways, I didn't know what I was missing!

    Now that I'm all grown up and (hopefully) wiser, I LOVE BREAKFAST.

    Let me repeat that…OMG, I LOVE BREAKFAST!!

    While eating today's breakfast, I'm already thinking about tomorrow's breakfast.

    Nutritionists and health experts consider breakfast to be the most important meal of the day - especially for kids. Why? To perform your best, especially as a kid, you need to eat a good breakfast every day.

    Growing bodies and developing brains need regular refueling often. That's what food is: Fuel for your body and mind.

    The biggest benefits of eating a healthy, wholesome breakfast:

    It increases your ability to remember things. Multiple studies done on short-term memory tests found that those who had eaten breakfast consistently performed better than those who skipped breakfast

    You have more energy - Just like gas is fuel for a car, food is fuel for your body. Food is your body's main energy source. The longer you go without eating, the more your body starts to slow and shut down.

    You can concentrate better - When you haven't had any food for many hours (say the time between you go to bed and when you go to lunch), your brain does an interesting thing: It starts focusing on storing the energy it has left. This is when you start to lose your ability to concentrate.
