My baseball cap was on backwards and my thick jacket buttoned up to the throat, I was bent over Shadow’s hoof and working the stone out of his hoof, when a male voice behind me said: Hurry up and fetch your boss, we are here for the lesson and I am in a hurry!

I ignored the arrogant male and continued using the hoof pick.

I am speaking to you! He reached for my shoulder and Shadow went to bite him.

The beast nearly bit me! he shrieked, jumping backwards.

I let go of the foreleg and straightened, still facing the horse. There are no lessons scheduled for an hour. I said.

I sent an SMS to say we need to come an hour earlier and so here we are. He added. I have an important meeting to get to, so hurry and call your boss to come and give the lesson, boy.

I don’t have a boss and I do not jump to adjust my schedule for arrogant arseholes who cannot be bothered to find out if it is convenient to change their appointments and just assume that the world of minions has to jump when he speaks! I whipped off my baseball cap and shook out my long auburn tresses and turned with a smirk on my face.

He actually looked taken aback!  I apologise, we seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot, he said, I am Steve and this is Megan who has a lesson booked with you. Could you take her earlier and for a double lesson please? We will of course, pay for the double lesson.

Unfortunately, I am busy now and cannot give an extra lesson. I replied.

Busy doing what? Faffing around with horse’s feet? Surely that can wait until later? he said.

Firstly, they are not feet, they are hooves and no, they cannot wait until later as I have a full day and will not have time later, so you will have to get on your way and bring the little darling back at her appointed time. I turned away and he reached for my arm.  Shadow bared his teeth again and Steve jumped back.

That monster is dangerous! He spluttered.

No, he is just protective of me and will attack anyone who wants to hurt me! I patted Shadow’s neck and said: Good boy!

He stepped back and pulled his cell from his pocket and dialled.  "Patricia, postpone my meetings half an hour please.  Yes, I know they are on their way, but I have a situation I need to take
